Cannibalism: The act or practice of humans eating the flesh of other human beings. It is also called anthropophagy. A person who practices cannibalism is called a cannibal.
The reasons for CANNIBALISM include the following:
A sanction by a cultural norm. Necessity in extreme situations of famine. Mental illness-self canniblism is a form of self-injury usually as a result of a major mental illness. Insanity or social deviancy.
Digesting The Human Condition, takes the reader into the slow boiling stew of humans eating humans. Some out of necessity, some out of insanity and others... out of gore-tastic fun. For the horror fans who think they have read everything, comes the Masters Of Taboo Series.

Stephen has done a little bit of everything in his life. A little school, a little college, a little death metal, a lot of comic books and a whole lot of violence. Now... let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's build up the momentum for you. He owned a comic book store by the name of Hooked on Comics for several years before the industry imploded. Luckily, he got out when the getting was good. Then he became a world famous video pirate for 7 years and turned it into a world-class underground video store in Ybor City FL by the name of Video Mayhem. The next logical step was to get into the movie business. That's when Unearthed Films was born back in 2001.

With his savvy looks and reputation. Stephen took Unearthed Films into uncharted territory and became the most extreme DVD label in the US and can even be said, of the world. With releases like THE GUINEA PIG SERIES, AFTERMATH, SLAUGHTERED VOMIT DOLLS and producing such gore-tastic delights like PHILOSOPHY OF A KNIFE and SLOW TORTURE PUKE CHAMBER. Unearthed Films has been heralded as the hardest film company this side of Hell.

During all of that time, Stephen wrote screenplays and rewrites for independent companies while working hard on his memoir, HELLUCINATION.

Stephens fan base and connections in the horror industry and comic book world, have been shocked by his bold display and attitude for his newest novel. No one was ready for the president of Unearthed Films to step into the limelight and tell everyone he has met God, danced with the Devil and has been to Hell.

Neither did they know that, at one time... Stephens psychedelic conquest of this reality and into the next, would rival Hunter S Thompson and Ken Kesey's drug intake.

Stephen came back from the other side of this reality with fresh and invigorating tales that go beyond simple horror, psychology and theology. Even though HELLUCINATION took him ten years to write, his new novel is the 3rd of the way done and I have read it, in screenplay format and I have to say. It’s unlike anything I have ever read and I am really looking forward to the novel form. But yet… I read Hellucination and it made me question everything about me and scare the living Hell into me. I wasn’t expecting this from him, just as you won’t.

Steve asked me to write his biography because he's not into selling himself. I'm David Hood and I've known Steve for about ten years now. I'm his graphic designer and website developer. I have to tell you, when you’re with him and he tells you what happened to him. It gives you shivers because there is no hesitancy, no doubt what he went through. I saw him at an author panel at a convention last week and one of the moderators asked Stephen what his book was about.

The room was filled with over 50 people and he began telling them the truth of Hellucination, meeting God, being manipulated by the Devil, having drinks with self-proclaimed Antichrists and then being sent to Hell after his meeting with God and the room fell silent. And, when he was done... it stayed silent for over a minute until one of the others authors said... "Listen to the silence in this room. I have never heard it this quite, not even in church for this long."

Everyone laughed to make themselves at ease. I know it's on video because somebody was videotaping it. I'm going to have to find it because it’s very spooky. (Steve, I hope you keep this part in. It was so cool to watch you shock so many people in a room to dead silence. )
So that’s Stephen in a nutshell.

With that said, she began to dismember the rest of the body. She pulled the bone saw across his throat and pulled deeply, on the back cut. She began to laugh but stifled her tears as the inches of flesh cut through each stroke. When the saw hit the bone and began to curl to the left or to the right. She lost her humanity in that instant. As she thrust down, into the last ligament and bone, it curved to the left. Making a popping sound she will forever hear for the rest of her life.

Wonderfully, gory and quite the rollercoaster ride. Each story is totally unique and tasty!

I can't write too much, since I'm the publisher of the book and one of the writers. Lets just say that some of these new writers I found for this book will soon become household names in the industry.

Enjoy the horror and blood soaked atrocities!

The first volume of "Masters of Taboo" is a welcome sight to this greying horror fan's eyes. Parking the fact that my "Plastic Bacon" appears as the first story in this twisted anthology, I'm genuinely overjoyed to see the horror anthology making a return. Rather than re-hash classic tales from familiar writers, the "Masters of Taboo: Cannibalism" introduces a whole smorgasbord of new underground authors to the world. While some may be familiar to genre fans, there are writers (including myself) appearing for the first time in print.

Kicking the proceedings off is Stephen ("Hellucination") Biro's disturbing Forward, written with his alter-ego Sutter Cane. This short jolt to the system sets the mood for the horrors to come.

After my tale, Michael S. Simmons' "Dive" takes us on a truly nightmarish and original trip to sea. This is a tasty segment from his novel "Ghosts of the Gulf". I swear I could taste salt water reading this....

"Preppers" by Hart D. Fisher is a short and sweet stream of consciousness; a quick hit of insanity that's very satisfying.

Brent Lorentson's "Sophia and the Amazon Queen" takes the traditional jungle-themed Cannibalism story and then rips it into pieces, throwing the reader into an unexpected story of terror. Thoroughly entertaining fare!

The brilliantly titled "Magnum P.I. and the Automated Butt-Cutter" by Brian Harris is one of my favourites. It's surreal, insane and bloody hilarious. It takes a lot to make me genuinely belly-laugh but this story had me in stitches. Sick and wrong.

"Fallen Angels" by M J Hyman is a welcome change of pace, taking the reader into a dark, crime-ridden world where charity comes with a price.

Andrew Allan's excellent "Corpse Intolerant" explores the unpleasant aftermath of cannibal dining. Not recommend reading on a full stomach!

"Zombie Christ" by Armand Rosamilia is a frightening insight into cannibalistic madness.

"S.K.I.N." written by Anthony Sant'Anselmo takes us back into the jungle and a twisting tale of revenge.

Bryan Jackson's "Abortion Atonement" throws the reader head-first into bloody shenanigans. No punches are pulled in this disturbing installment.

"Bath Salts: For Human Consumption" by Jack Donnelly is a very dark tale of the unexpected which brings the volume right up-to-speed with this year's shock news headlines.

Destiny West's "Chubby Chasers" is an ingenious twist on the cannibalism theme. Adult, explicit and shocking, this is stand-out stuff!

Finally, Stephen Biro's "The Diary" ends on a darkly disturbing note, the perfect end to this collection.

This is a recommended read. There's such variety on the cannibalism theme that every story is unique and entertaining. Every reader will have their own favourites - there are tales to appeal to all tastes (no pun intended).

Enjoy!

This is the first in a series of anthologies titled Masters of Taboo.
This first release - Cannibalism, Digesting The Human Condition is a no holds barred collection of short stories from writers from all over the world. No two stories are alike, each is unique, stomach churning exploration of cannibalism.
As a writer included on this wickedly gory ride, I was truly impressed by my fellow writers within the anthology. Each author offers their own insight into what cannibalism means to them.

Even though I contributed a story to this book, of course I had to check out what my "neighbors" between these covers wrote as well. The stories run from hard core gore and mayhem to incredibly subtle and disturbing turns. But almost all of the stories were well thought out and unlike anything I've seen offered in reading for quite a few years. Maybe that's not so bad. Although, think on this...Since all these authors who came up with these types of tales are just regular folks from normal places, who exactly does live next door to me?
Well, I know my "neighbors" now, in this volume at least, and I'm buying extra deadbolts.

Stephen Biro has amassed himself an arsenal of talent that I am honored to share these pages with. From slow-burns to over-the-top, outrageous gore; these stories will gnaw at the reader's imagination like the very cannibals that inhabit this book. Keep an eye out (ideally, intact and in your own socket) for future 'Masters of Taboo' Volumes...

Oh, and by the way, "it's Supper Time!"

I enjoyed this book. Its degrading and perverse and filled with edible goodness.
The stories were pretty decent. A few errors here and there but I would read from these authors again,

Mixed bag of stories. Some I found really good and unique and a few I found disappointing and not to the same standard as the best ones.

An anthology of Cannibal stories. Wide range of writing styles. I hope to see more books released from Unearthed Films.
