Wow! What a great self-help book for all of us who have moderate to severe "gut" problems. I will never follow all of the advice (not yet, anyway, because my pain is not that severe) but this is a book I will keep on my shelf forever. There is great advice and I have followed some of it already, e.g., sit quietly and identify my pain and wait with it, acknowledge it and learn from it. I can live through it and I can do other things such as identify the foods or drink that brings pain - now or later.
If you are doubled over with pain, get to these doctors in Minnesota. If your gut pain is just bothersome, buy the book and read it. Then follow some of the guidelines.
This book has helped me already and will help me in the future.
Thanks, guys. I received a review copy from Goodreads.

Less anti-fat than the other books I've read on this, but still there (story about weight loss using Weight Watchers as an achievement that was highlighted as a patient's strength, ob*sity listed as a physical stressor up there with dehydration and insomnia, food journals helping people lose weight because they were too embarrassed to write down "terrible" foods)

Generally the best of the three that I've read on this topic, and I'm looking forward to some updates at some point from someone who is pointedly health-at-every-size.

This book is a nice tool that I utilize in my practice. Patients have reported improvements from following the CORE exercises outlined in this book and I appreciate the whole body approach that Dr. Plotnikoff put together.

This book presents IBS from the whole perspective. I am suffering from IBS. In a few "dark" moments, I came to the point of "letting go" and "observe" the pain. The point when you realize that resisting or fighting will only makes it worst. And then slowly and intuitively, remembering all the philosophies about mind&body i learn from martial arts, I start to listen to my body.

Reading this book on my flight back home was full of aha moments: some of the things I found out intuitively and some others are new and I wish I had known that before. It also makes me reflect on my past. IBS has been a close part of my family, I even dare to say that it may have shaped one of my parent directly and the rest of us indirectly. If only they would have known about this book sooner.... And how misleading all the doctors that we have asked for help so far are.

The thing I enjoyed most about this book is it's holistic approach. I think the way we look at a problem and the course of action we take in resolving the issue lays at the very core of the solution. If we view it in a negative way and dwell upon it, the chance of riding yourself of it is less because you are basking in negative energy that continues to infect the mind, body and spirit. Thank you for brining a positive approach that will lead to healing through the words in this book. I have gifted this book to my neighbor who suffers from IBS. We are enthuasatic to try a new and natural form of healing.

Great book! Finally a book that combines holistic healing in all aspects of life (Physical, emotional, spiritual, mental etc...) I learned a few things I didn't know, and will definitely give them a try. If you are a newbie to stomach issues, or even someone who has had a chronic digestive problem for years, this book is worth the read! Thank You Dr. Plotnikoff for sharing your wisdom with all of us.

This book was not what I thought it was going to be. But, what it delivered was some great info about healing yourself by taking care of your mind, body and soul. Many great practical details that will help relieve the stress that adds to digestive issues. Highly recommend.
