There's nothing like a book for younger readers (in this case, Young Adults) for concise information! I learned things I hadn't known (but then, I'm not a huge history/politics buff, so I imagine a lot of folks already know everything that's here). This book, by Britannica Educational Publishing includes great illustrations, a glossary, a bibliography, a suggested reading list and an index.
