After the rain a rainbow follows, begging the question, What is at the end? A young girl sets out to answer this and along the way invites Rabbit, Bird, Turtle, and Horse to join her. The group is anxiously awaiting the rainbows end, when suddenly, the arc is gone. While the group does not find the end of the rainbow, they realize that they have found something even wonderful new friends!
Overall, the picture book “The End of the Rainbow” by Liza Donnelly was a good book, and in my opinion, a quality book. I loved the plot, even though it is a shorter book, the underlying meaning was powerful and can help teach kids a good lesson. It can be used as an example in the classroom for teaching kindness. You can use the book to show that students can invite other peers and classmates to play/do something with them and they can end up being friends! Overall, a good quality book with great pictures.
A girl and her cat set off to see what is at the end of a rainbow and are joined along the way be a menagerie of animals, each dreaming of something different as the treasure. The rainbow disappears, but since new friends were made no one is sad. This is a picture book sized easy reader from the “I like to Read” series. The simple text should be friendly for new readers but still presents an engaging story. The simple water color illustrations are colorful and match the text. Add this one to your rainbow themed storytimes.
Look! It's a rainbow! A young girl and her cat follow it, each with a mental picture of what wonder might be found at its end. Other animals are invited along in their journey, each with its own wish. When the rainbow disappears they realize that they did end up with something wonderful--friends! This is a very uncomplicated book with bright friendly illustrations. Part of the "I Like to Read" series, it would be a good choice for beginning readers.
I love the simplicity of this story... a great spin on the old adage "the journey is the destination." Fun illustrations, and a great message of friendship and the joys of gathering an odd bunch on a quest.
A fabulous story about inclusions and making friends. Follow a little girl who tries to find the end of the rainbow and along the way makes some amazing new friends! Another great book for classroom application. I plan to use this book for my rain lesson!!! 5 stars
I loved that diverse friends were on a mission together in this beginning to read picture book. The illustrations are colorful and fun, for pre-school- grade 2. Could be used with a lesson on rain and rainbows.
The story is adorable. I love the friendships. HOWEVER, when I picked it up I thought it was a parenting book about death! Not a great title!! Who reviewed this at Holiday House?
