Mike Warren, author of the Private Affair Series, brings you Just Make Him Beautiful. Nothing ever came easy for Cameron Jenkins. Growing up on the mean city streets, he knew was different from most boys his age after having to deal with the abuse from his step-father, and then from his secret, unlikely boyfriend. One catastrophic incident after another leads Cameron down a road that most people can t even imagine. Unfortunately, the murder of his older brother takes a toll on him. Soon, Cameron and his mentally ill mother develop a plan to revenge all those who had abused him as well as payback the man who killed his brother. With the motto A life for a life, in mind, Cameron is torn between finding love and peace, while settling the score.
I was not expecting the story we got. From the first chapter I was excited because I liked the attraction between Ms. Camira and Mike and I wanted to read more about how Sean's story played out. Didn't get that. I thought we'd get a story about a fabulous drag queen. Didn't get that either.
What we do get is Cameron's backstory from childhood. My first surprise was the incest in the plot. Okay. The story did keep me engaged throughout but I was majorly disappointed with the ending.
Some of the characters' personality changes were so drastic. I wanted to know how Keith went from being a school teacher to a big time drug pin. I was sorely disappointed when Cameron's mother called him a faggot
Cameron at times was too stupid to live. Four years does not make you unrecognizable to those who knew you from the past. The plot twists weren't as scandalous because I've come to realize that this author loves "Jerry Springer drama."
Overall, I did enjoy the story.
P.S. Just because you are black and poor does not necessarily mean you have to speak improper English. What is up with all the "is you gay?" shit? Also I don't think the anus is self-lubricating. According to the author, if you're a power bottom you self-lubricate? WTF????
I've really enjoyed this entire series. Complicated doesn't even begin to describe it though. I hope there are more to come because as much as I enjoy angst I really need a HEA at the end of it all. I want Cameron and Sean to have that even if it's with other people.
This was good! Funny as hell and good. The ending blew me tho. U thought he woulda killed everybody who fuked over him on some revenge shit. But it was still a good book.
