This book is so important because it tells the story of someone who “failed”. Even though Chris McCandless didn’t make it out of his journey alive, he still went through with it because he recognized the importance of his journey. He went out and did it anyways knowing the dangers of it.
We as a society are easy to criticize those who fail or at least those who do not succeed stereotypically. McCandless still found success because he found a sense of peace being out in the wild, even though it lead to his death.

It was interesting to learn about Chris McCandles journey, thinking, and personality. This book was just difficult to get through. Had a lot of added information that was not needed. It would have been better as an article not a book. I would not recommend.

A young man walks away from society. A haunting story of freedom! I recommend.
