It's astonishing how novel and exciting this story still feels seven hundred years later. The structure and the detail are really striking, if a little eccentric to modern tastes. The facing-page translation is the way to go, you get both the original language and the meaning. Plus this edition includes two other Gawain stories which are rarely anthologized.

As far as mid 1300’s texts go this was pretty good. Did think it was kinda fruity that Lord Bertilak made Gawain promise to give him everything he received that day and then made his wife try and seduce Gawain so that when Lord Bertilak went to receive his gifts Gawain was forced to kiss him “most lovingly”
like okaaaay Bertilak
