Christmas Shenanigans #1

Mingle All the Way

Rate this book
Jade O’lette
The plan was simple.
Work hard and reduce expenses, until I paid off all my debt.
So easy.
Until I crashed into my neighbor’s car.
Yes, the hot guy I referred to as Mr. December.
Oddly, he was super sweet and even offered to fix my car.
Then I learned he had a small favor to ask of me.
All I had to do was pretend to be his fake date to one-up his nemesis cousin.
That should be easy, right?
Evan Gabbert
Sure, I was way too old to be living at my parents’ home, but I had my reasons.
It’s not like I had to explain it to anyone.
Until I was forced to have Christmas dinner with my not-so-nice cousin who recently got engaged.
There was no way I was going to show up to dinner without a date.
Problem: I didn’t know any available females.
I got so lucky when one crashed into my car.
Solution: She instantly became part of my plan.
It was perfect, until my heart started to race at Mach 200 speeds whenever she was near me.
Was fake dating supposed to have this much . . . chemistry?

Find out what happens when this fake dating couple team up for revenge.
Mingle All the Way is a fake date, sweet romantic comedy with a HEA.

A funny book With love,,,, a good read

This book had many funny parts throughout the story. The girl jade seems to have trouble after trouble after trouble. Evan is such a nerd, and an insecure at that. The ups and downs and the different trials went through will make you laugh. I hope you enjoyed as much as I did

For a book that wasn't on my radar until recently, it was pretty decent for a quick holiday read. Might jump into the next book for more holiday shenanigans.

Omg this Rom Com Christmas novella was so much fun from start to finish. The meet cute was hysterical and sweet, and I love a good fake dating trope! And this was so good! The characters were so well done, the storyline moves at a perfect pace, and there were so many funny scenes! There is a character you’ll love to hate…. Maybe two…. And if you’ve read the Coffee Loft books, you’ll notice a bunch of Easter Eggs! This will put a huge smile on your face, but beware of robots…… they are not always your friend!!

I received an ARC of this story.

If you want a fun holiday romance that will make you laugh while rooting for the lovable characters to find their connection, then this RomCom is for you.

My heart fell for the hero who lives in his parents’ house for all the right reasons. He’s loyal while being insecure with himself. He’s the kind of man you hope will find a woman who sees his true worth.

Evan is swoon-worthy in not a normal swoon-worthy kind of way. Will Jade see the real deal?

This book is part of the Christmas Shenanigans series and is a light hearted short story of two unlucky neighbours falling in love. Evan Gabbert lives in his parent’s home, helping them make ends meet, whilst Jade O’lette has moved into a studio apartment in the building next door, in an effort to reduce her expenses and save a bit of money, whilst still working hard at such a low paying job. Jade had unexpectedly lost her teaching job and had to use all her savings and her credits cards to live on until her rental agreement was over. The cheap apartment was all she could manage and finally getting a job as a barista, finding she got more tips if she dressed up for the Christmas period, in fancy dress. Her first night in her new abode, she thought she had a ghost making a weird noise, only to find it was an overgrown tree branch from next door, thoroughly embarrassing herself looking out the window and spotting a hot man next door, whilst she had put on some weird stuff to protect herself from the ghost or an intruder! Evan had given up on corporate America right when he also found out his engagement exploded as he found out she had been cheating on him. His rent money helped his father work less hours and begin to save for retirement whilst allowing him to work on his own nerdy projects and help others with their computer issues as his main job.

When Jade is running late one morning for her shift at the coffee shop, she finds her old car stuck in ice, and as she tries to pull out the alleyway between the houses, her tyres spin and she ends up reversing right into someone else’s car! She has done more damage to her old car, than the one she crashed into, and finds the hot neighbour is the owner and isn’t as worried as her. Evan offers to drive her to work, so she won’t be any later for her shift, and even offers to call a friend of his for the parts to fix her car, all without calling the police after she admits she has no insurance! Since Evan’s mother had just been mentioning that his hated cousin Rob was coming over for a Christmas dinner that weekend, he suddenly blurts out he has a girlfriend and will bring her over, not wanting his cousin to one up him yet again. Having Jade owing him, he asks if she would pretend to be his girlfriend and she soon becomes part of his plan to beat his spoilt cousin for once. It should have been easy, but they find they have lots of easy conversations and she takes to her role like an expert, with an easy manner, that makes it all seem so real and suddenly, he wishes it was. Rob however, has his doubts and so they end up on a joint date, which Rob manages to twist around completely, leaving them apart and Evan not knowing why! Lots of chemistry and a clean read with lots of Christmas family fun. Shocking to see how Rob acts and how he treats Evan and even the woman he is supposed to be marrying. A fun situation with one of his mother’s cheesecakes and a new opportunity for a job and a future together. I look forward to reading more of these light reads with a great touch of romance, which makes them fun to read.

I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Who says you cannot read a Christmas book in July? When Jade in Mingle All the Way by J.P. Sterling crashes against her neigbor’s car, he is not angry at all. Evan helps her repair her car and in return he asks her to be his fake date. Well, we all know that fake dating will not be fake for long.

From the moment I started reading this book I loved it. Jade is a lovely character, she does not take herself very seriously and that is so refreshing. She is very funny. Evan is a bit of a inventor and a nerd, but a handsome one (!) and he has had a bad experience: his fiance was stolen by his cousin. As she and his cousin are visiting he needs help and that’s where Jade comes in. Evan and Jade have such a great chemistry: both are so right for each other, because they are thinking the same way. And both have the same kind of humor, and that made that some scenes made me laugh out loud.
In this book there are lots of hilarious situations, for example the creature from the blue lagoon and robot Greta. You have to read this book to know what I mean.

I knew Mingle All the Way would be a humorous book, because J.P. Sterling is known for that. I have read some of her novels and I enjoyed them all. As in all her other books the writing in Mingle All the Way is flowing and thanks to the dual POV (one of my favorite writing styles) we learn more about Evan and Jade. Both are great and normal characters you come to love and you root for them.

Mingle All the Way is a sweet and cute Christmas themed novel, with a flowing writing style, great characters, a good romantic and humorous story-line, a book I enjoyed reading. If you’re in for this, than check this book out (and all other J.P. Sterling’s novels as well).

laugh out loud, fun, quick and clean (perfect kind of book)

I don’t know what makes a perfect book for you but when a books elicits a legit “laugh out loud” from you it jumps way up there for me. And I literally did laugh, out loud! twice. No, 3 times reading this story.
Fun (can we talk about “somewhere there is a calendar missing its Mr December”. And the complete massacre of a cheesecake-but worth every second!
Quick- I read this one in hours. OK, so that doesn’t always make for a “perfect book” BUT great pacing, no redundant self monologue, no prolonged miscommunication troupe…it is perfect when an author knows when to bring the story to an end. This book was almost just the right length. -The absolute only thing I did not like about the story was the sudden ending. I felt the heroine needed to ask a few more questions before jumping to the HEA. Nothing prolonged but some explanation; definitely more than she got on paper.
And finally but not least: clean! G rated fun like this is hard to find. SO HARD TO FIND!! There wasn’t a swear word or any mental “bodice ripping”. Their attraction was undeniable. There is kissing (perfect- I didn’t need any more details). And the story was engaging and involved “not stupid” H/h.
A perfect read for me. My first from this author but certainly not the last! AKA: this is just the beginning of a very good thing. So excited!

There’s something to be said about trying to maintain your personal joy in the holiday season when everything in your life is basically a dumpster fire!

Okay, that sounds a bit dramatic, but Jade has awful luck!  Between losing a shoe (having to resort to sandals in the snow), having a fender bender in your driveway, and barely financially scraping by!  Poor girl needs a leg up or something!  Despite all these less than stellar things, Evan rides to her rescue!

Evan overlooks Jade’s misfortune and lend a hand!  He finds her a new fender, drives her to/from work for a small favor in return… she must agree to be his “girlfriend” for a family dinner that his grandmother, “perfect” cousin and ex are going to attend!  Jade decides she has nothing to lose and that’s when the crazy fun antics begin!  While I’m not one usually for cheesecake, this novella proves that cheesecake is life!

J.P. Sterling has become a new go-to writer for me and this novella didn’t disappoint!  Also mentions of costumes gave me some much-needed hearty belly laughs!  I feel like this story is like that friendly elf that hands you the candy cane after you have waited forever to talk to Santa when you are a kid!

This is a sweet, funny fake relationship romance between two people who have given up on love and relationships. Jade’s life has been going downhill both personally and professionally, but some recent changes have her hoping that life is looking up for her. An accident leads her to meet Evan, her very handsome and rather nerdy neighbour. He ends up consoling her after she backs into his car and offers to fix her car. Evan even takes Jade to work and eventually ends up asking her to be his fake date for a family event. He lied to his mother about having a girlfriend and now his nemesis, his cousin, is coming for dinner and bringing his fiancée, who happens to be Evan’s ex-fiancée. Jade is happy to help Evan out after everything he has done for her. Neither expects fake dating to feel so real or to find someone who really sees them, not the person that they are for the rest of the world. Their story includes a malicious and manipulative cousin, cheesecake shenanigans, and some Christmas magic.

“‘I wish the bad stuff stops happening to me so I can get ahead of the bad stuff that has already happened.’” This was a very cute and and funny Christmas fake dating romance. It’s a novella, so it’s a quick read. I enjoyed it. Faced with the impending visit of the one-upping cousin who stole his fiancée, Evan claimed to have a girlfriend. Just when he needed a Christmas miracle, one appeared in the form of Jade, a new neighbour who crashed into his car. As the two pretended to be dating they got into plenty of shenanigans and feelings developed. The characters were fun and the romance was sweet and cute. It was endearing. Just two people trying to figure out life and stumbling their way along…eventually stumbling headlong into each other. “‘Lately, I have been in survival mode, dodging one curve ball after the next.’” This story has loose ties to a few other books by the author but it reads as a standalone. This is closed door romance with no harsh language.

Jade doesn't have much luck, everything she tries somehow always ends up going wrong. Now she'd found a new apartment, new job and hopefully by next year all her debts will finally be paid off. That is until she hits the car parked in front of her in the alleyway. Evan was back home living with his parents after his split from his ex fiancée trying to live an easier life. But life doesn't always go how you want and now his cousin Rob was visiting. He'd always felt insignificant when Rob was around, he had a way of belittling Evan and now he done one better he only got engaged. Evan needed a girlfriend and he only had a day to find one. This is a lovely story that shows sometimes what you think you want and what you really want isn't always the same thing. This is a hilarious book that totally jeeps you turning page after page cos you just don't want to put it down.

This was the perfect Christmas in July book. Jade and Evan were so much fun. They had me laughing out loud so much through out this book. Jade has the worst luck and Evan needs to make his cousin jealous so they decided to fake date. But of course sparks will start to fly. These characters were well written and absolutely adorable. Evan gives you plenty of swoon worthy moments that you will just love. This book brings us the start of The Coffee Loft Series. I loved when I got to read some of that in this book considering that is one of my favorite series and got me to fall in love with JP Sterling's books. I can't recommend this book enough. It's a quick read that will make you happy and leave you with feeling good.

Thank you JP Sterling and BookSprout for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest opinion.

I am such a sucker for a sweet love story! This one had it all! It was laugh out loud funny, had a little bit of mayhem, and a little bit of Christmas magic! After several months of bad breaks and bad luck, Jade was desperately in need of a new beginning! Maybe her new rental would be the trick? After a series of misfortune, she meets the incredibly handsome man next door, Evan. Evan has had his own share of disappointments, and in order to forge a new path, had moved back home with his parents. All sorts of hilarity, hijinks and heart string tugging ensues in this well-done holiday story. For any girl who has fallen for the "boy next door," this story is for you!

MINGLE ALL THE WAY
⭐⭐⭐ 3/5

Just your average holiday romance. It's cute, it's fun. But nothing new to me tho. I like the characters, Jade and Evan, but I am not a total obsessed about their pair up. If I am being honest, I'd probably will remember this book for making me crave on cheese cake. Yeah, this book made me crave for a fucking cake at the wrong time.

It's a decent short read and so I'm giving it a 3 stars. Should I continue with my Christmas themed reads? Or should I pick up a different themed book?

Fast Read!

If you want a sweet fast Christmas read, this will fit the bill. The couple fake dates to make Evan’s ex fiancee and cousin jealous or ‘win’ in some weird completion that doesn’t really make sense. Evan and Jade discover they actually like each other. The epilogues are a sweet wrap up. It’s low angst and completely clean except for a few kisses. Perfect if you want a nice. short novella to read. It fine, but it’s kind of forgettable.

Meet Jade who has trouble after trouble after trouble who is just trying to work hard and pay down some debt. Till she meets Evan, her neighbor after crashing his car.

I really enjoyed watching Jade and Evan’s relationship develop and unfold, it was funny and sweet.

While reading this story, there some sneak peeks at some of J.P. Sterling’s other books…Coffee Loft.

This was a cute, short read, with kisses only and an HEA. I would recommend if you are looking for a cute holiday read.

Evan and Jade

Evan and Jade are both a bit down on their luck when they have an adorable meet-cute... She accidentally runs her car into his car in their shared "driveway." Evan is a wonderfully cute clutz who Jade immediately gives the moniker "Mr. December." I love when a hot guy is a clutz! It only serves to make the guy that much more adorable! The best part is that from the very beginning, Jade GETS him. The Mr. Bricklebaum and Izzy costumes added the perfect touch!
