***This story has been reedited to fix plot and other errors.

When I stole from the titan prince, I didn't expect him to steal me.

In a world ruled by titans, I never imagined I'd cross paths with their prince - or that he'd claim me as his fated mate.

Centuries after the titans destroyed our world, they rule over humanity with an iron fist. When my friend is taken as payment for my crime, I volunteer to take his place. I expect to be enslaved or worse. What I don't expect is for Thorsten, the titan prince, to spring a trap to capture me and claim me as his mate.

His silver eyes devour me as his hands explore every inch of my body. With one touch he ignites a furious longing inside me. But how can I desire the son of the creatures driving humanity into extinction?

Torn between my duty to my friends and my traitorous attraction to Thorsten, I must find a way to escape before he destroys what little humanity I have left.

Can I steal my freedom without losing my heart? Or will I forsake all to be with the sinister prince who claims to love me?

***This story is a dark romance with Mpreg at the end along with an HEA.

Look at that cover, so pretty. While I really liked the idea of this book, the actual execution was lacking for me. The romance and story felt choppy and forced. There were lots of time jumps that felt abrupt. The actual relationship between our two main characters was really missing. I still have unanswered questions. Certain parts of the plot are disjointed, and in all honesty, I really didn't love any of the characters main cast include.

Beautiful cover art

The first thing that grabbed my attention was the cover art. And I know it's not a good thing to judge a book by the cover but I sure did and regretted it. I finished it just to see how it ends, though that bit of information was considered triggering enough that it had front row seats in the blurb. Yes, continue giving away plot surprises.

Considering this was listed as a dark MM I was eager to delve into this story. It started out strong unfortunely the dark became grey. There was so much wasted potential in Thorsten's and Kal's character. This could have easily been two books or more to really flesh them out. The plot had a lot of moving pieces that would have made this story so much more richer if only it was executed better.

I'm not sure if future books are in the pipeline or maybe heavy revision of this one would be great. The pace was rushed, when it should have been fast it was slow and vice versa. Thorsten and Kal lacked chemistry. The emotional bond felt instantaneous, insta-love ish.

I created no bonds with the characters, very lackluster for me. Props for plot, originality and the cover art.

eh

The plot is interesting though not well told. There are also a ton of grammar mistakes. I couldn’t take the constant contradictions either, and ended up skipping through a lot of this to see what happened at the end. An example of one issue I had a problem with is the MC’S first encounter. You’ll know what I mean when you get to the end of the chapter, it’s hilariously bad. I kinda wonder if this author had an “AI” write it, since I’ve heard computers can do such things these days. This story was an eyesore.

I have mixed feels on this book in so many ways, there was a lot of potential in areas and then I kept falling apart. The writing did grip ne though and had me hanging on, hoping it would develop more and yet sadly it never quite reached that for me.

Kal and Thorston are both interesting characters, but I didn't really see their romance outside of the insta bond and lust between them. Don't really spend much time truly trying to get to know one another and understand their differences.

There were timeskips and suddenly they were admitting their love to each other, I just sadly didn't see that develop which was disappointing. If anything there was more chemistry in the unrequited love from Jaxon towards Kal.

Still I did find the world building fascinating and the concept with the magic, runes & portals between worlds. Also some great action scenes and the diving was beautifully written, the setting truly comes to life.

All of the little details truly stand out in the way thralls and servants are seen, the brutal moments with the collars and death. Along with Titans viewing humans as dwarfs - considering them a lesser species and like animals for their enjoyment.

This story definitely has a bunch of dark vibes to the tale, which was done incredibly well and I loved seeing the villain's get what they deserved. Kal's burn scars and eye, the contact lens.

However the Titans come across unlikable for the majority and Thorsten was no exception, he had a few sweet scenes with Kal but for a lot of the story he was just a dick in every way.

Overall I just don't know, it was an entertaining read that's for sure and it had me hooked but not perhaps for the right reasons. Still it ends happy for now with Kal and Thorsten in a new location, where Titans and humans live together equally. So hopeful vibes and hint to their future, with the epilogue ✨

like everyone else, i read this because of the cover. tragic lol i couldn't make heads or tails of anything that happened. it was disjointed at best and the dialogue stuttered along nonsensically. someone else said they wondered if this was written by an AI and i'm inclined to believe so because it wasn't at all well-written and there was no substance to any of the characters. the romance was disappointing to say the least. i would love to reread this by a talented author tbh because again, like everyone else said, the premise was refreshing. had the execution not been lacking, i think i would have really enjoyed it. there was no real chemistry between the MCs and every plot point was clipped and awkward to read through. i'm giving 2 stars for the ambitious storyline but nothing else.

I really tried to power through this book but there were so many grammatical errors that it was hard to overlook after a point. I know the author stated they had re-edited this but I think it needs more work. The plot and story are there but the execution needs work. The incorrect word usage and choppy sentences just pulled me out of the story. I think this is the authors first work and I hope they keep at it.

Terrible World Building

In theory this could have been a very good story but it suffered because the world building was very poor. On top of that, the couple went from enemies to lovers with no explanation. There was no sense of them falling in love or overcoming their issues and biases. They just went from a dynamic of disdain and mistrust, to the next chapter being a month later and somehow tender emotions developed. This is after all romance and romance should be just as much a tangible thing within these pages, as were the banal political machinations that came across as very contrived.

Interesting Concept

The premise behind this book immediately made me want to read it, sadly though it didn't live up to those expectations completely. It was still an overall enjoyable read though. The two main characters were not all that engaging to me. The story felt rushed but also drawn out in places which was strange. The romance was fine.

It was a fun quick read. It got quite dark but not that much. I don’t really like how the maid girl was killed off and how the protag’s relationship with the other servants never got better afterwards. Would have loved a found family situation with them. And how the male lead’s image change felt abrupt. One moment they were hating each other and he was a bad person then the next they’re madly inlove with each other. Could just be me but it felt too abrupt. I dont want ‘fated mates’ to be used as an excuse for this sudden change too.

The ending also felt too rushed. Too many things happening and the pacing felt off in the end.

Still, it was a fun little quick read. I wasn’t wowed by it. It was just an okay book all in all :)

This book was weirdly all over the place, but the main characters remained the center focus of it. The plot twists definitely kept the story going, too. It didn't end on a cliffhanger, per se, but the ending was amusing and fitted the story completely.

I adore this cover art. It would have been a 5. If not for the grammar. Who am I to be a stickler for spelling.

I'm getting a vibe thats a mix of Sex Pistols the manga, and fantasy ...

Can't say it's really fantasy. Cause what can be said when half of your world is destroyed by beings from another world.. calling your world a place inhibited by dwarves. Proceed to use you as servants and play things.

I swear this story reads like an American Slave Narrative from the Antebellum South. Just saying!

Interesting

Alien invasion gone wrong? I liked the concept of tall humanoid aliens being called Titans and them referring to the humans as dwarves. Somewhat post-apocalyptic in essence with destruction of the world and how they are now surviving with the aliens as the rulers of Earth. Some parts were well written, others were more sketched out, but overall I did enjoy the story enough to move on to book two.

KU, alien/human, fated mates, mpreg at end

I usually try not to be too critical of something as subjective as taste in books, but that gorgeous cover art - which I certainly hope isn't AI-generated, but one can never be too sure with these things - wasn't given any justice by the contents of the book. (I know, I know. Don't judge a book by its cover. But a beautiful cover does wonders for drumming up interest, right?) For one, I wasn't impressed with the story itself. For another, I thought that the appearances of the characters on the cover art sort of misrepresented how they were actually described in the book. Based on the cover (both versions of it), I thought it would be a romance between a big human and an even bigger titan. But in the book, Kal, our human main character, describes himself as petite. And I believe Thorsten would be around eight feet tall.

But that's the least of my concerns.

Better editing and proofreading of the grammatical mistakes - such as random tense changes, wrong subject-verb agreement, misplaced or missing commas, incomplete statements, and the like - might've netted this book another star. But, as it is, whatever vague enjoyment I might've gotten out of it was promptly squashed by how juvenile the writing sometimes felt.

Most egregious of all was that I just eventually got irritated with the characters. Initially I did find Kal and Thorsten to be interesting enough to warrant further reading, but then their relationship development went from animosity to "maybe this is love" in the span of a few pages. The significant side characters ended up being either traitors (not that anyone reading this book will be surprised by whoever ends up being a traitor) or those pushy "I can fix you" types. Random characters would be introduced and given names only to be unceremoniously killed off either in the next chapter or even in the next paragraph. It was only until I hit the 90% mark when I finally found characters I liked. As much as I could like them, anyway, given their minimal presence. The only other character I vaguely liked from start to finish was Kal's father, but that was probably because he only appeared for very few scenes too.

How was I supposed to feel invested in the story if every single person, including the main characters, annoyed me? I understand the book's setting is more of a future dystopia and this is billed as a dark romance, but I honestly don't think that means every single character has to be a distrustful, backstabbing asshole.

Furthermore, I just was confused by the worldbuilding and how anachronistic and contradictory it felt. The world gets flooded due to an accident that happens at the same time as the arrival of the titans. But somehow enough historical materials survive that, centuries after this event, you've got a character who is able to reference Roman baths. This same character knows what a town car is, but chapters later will say something like, "I heard this car used to be called an SUV before." You find out early on that the Internet somehow survives the cataclysm that basically fractured humanity and altered civilization; at the same time, however, our main characters can't use the Internet on their tablets to find out the existence of a more peaceful settlement years ago?

It's really such a shame because this could've been good. Between the gorgeous cover and an interesting premise, the book had potential. There was a scene towards the end of the book where a character explains the existence of titans as somehow tying into Norse mythology and that very much intrigued me, but that's about all that we get about titans themselves. (Though I suppose more explanations will be given in the sequel?) But given how short the book was, there can only be so much development that you can fit into it. So many things were glossed over or passed through very quickly, and the multiple timeskips didn't help either.

But then again, I'm actually grateful that this was on the shorter side. It didn't feel like a waste of time because I only spent two days reading, and I read through most of the book during the slow hours at work anyway. Maybe, just maybe, I am actually masochistic enough to read the second book in this series - which supposedly ties up the loose ends from this one - at some point in the future.

Maybe six months from now, I will. I'm certainly in no rush.

I have to give this three stars...

Unfortunately, I have to give this 3 stars instead of the 4 or 4 1/2 stars this book could have gotten. There was world building. There was a plot. There were twists. There were all kind of little things going on that would have made this just a good fantasy romance read.
We go in along the book, and then we got to like 80% or so. Then all of a sudden, we hit the climax, hit the crescendo I'm ready to read on and find out what's going on, how we're gonna wrap it up. What's gonna be the resolution? Maybe there will be a cliff hanger because were at 80% and the book is not over. We still gotta do x y z.

What followed was the most rushed, choppy, and disappointing third act of a book I've ever read. It was lazy. It was disappointing. it was like. Did someone give the author a character limit?? And they had to fit all the ideas in the last 12% of the look. It just skipped over scenes that you would want to see after going on this journey. I felt robbed. I did like this book a lot. The term "worm" was a little bit questionable, but I went past it. I just don't understand the abruptness at the end. So I have to knock the rating down for that

I think that the novel Ai No Kusabi inspired the plot, so if it's a nordic version of the story with a HEA, the writer did good because the bad quality is the same.
It's was a nightmare to finish.

A 3 🌟 book .
The writing and how the story moves is quite wattpad coded , just in case it's something you are not into .
Ok , so have a kind of a dystopian situation , where some centuries ago , some titans came from another world or dimension through a portal and something went wrong , a explosion happened and most of the world was submerged by a flood . The remaining humans tried to fight against the titans but failed . And now we are in New York but it's name has been changed and it divided in several levels , from rich to poor . The titans stay in a castle and are the rulers . And humans stay a bit further away from the castle in those levels , from richer to poorer .

We have Thorsten , a titan royal prince , basically the most powerful guy , not physically ( he's rather weak , gets ill easily) , just because of the position he's in . He came here looking for his fated mate , but hasn't found his mate yet and wants to find the rune to go back to his world .
Then we have Kal , a human , poor and diver . His father is really sick , so to get him his medical treatment , he comes to this place, ( old ) new york ,from where he lived earlier , cause his friend jaxon needed a diver to get a thing that's very valuable (the rune ).
Now while negotiating the price , things go south and jaxon and another guy Jo are captured , while Kal runs back to his house.
Now when the titan prince knows about this , and sees his hologram photo , he feels the fated bond . So , the titan decides to lure Kal in a trap . When they meet ( in not such a good place or situation) , Kal can feel the pull of the bond too , although he doesn't know what it is . And the story goes from there .
But cause we have a titan and human pairing with a fated mate trope , I think you guys can guess what's in store for you , so yeah beware .

Okay , sooo the the story is good and wierd at the same time . Like while I am reading it , I find it wierd , but then when put the book down and think about what has happened tell that point , like summarize it , it sounds good and also make sense .
The imagery in my head is really pretty , so I like that .
I think it's just miscommunication between our main characters , like they don't talk much and they are also both stuck in situations they don't really want to be in , they have a mate bond , but not much affection or trust apart from it , at least Kal doesn't and Thorsten just doesn't know how to express his feelings and doesn't talk much .

So yeah, while the I think the story , the idea behind it and implications are quite good , which is what interested me when I read its synopsis and even the first few chapters , but the execution is just not it for me . It's just a bit wierd .

But overall , it was fine , a bit meh , but not bad .

Unique storyline and world building with a lot of potential. The flow and pace seemed sort of choppy, skimming over some of the background story at times. First chapter covered a lot about where/when they were (future NYC), how the Titans got there and what happen to the world when they arrived, which seemed to be summed up in a few sentences, while flashing forward to what was happening in the present day (>100-150 years post-Titan arrival). Obviously, this is nothing new in story’s like this, but it just seemed faster than most of the fantasy books I’ve read. I wouldn’t have mind reading a bit more of how the humans of NYC (and the World) got to be in the situation the readers find themselves with what seems like not a lot of Titans in NYC. I believe the Titans came through only ONE portal, but somehow have taken charge of Earth. Although we have yet to find out the amount of damage the rest of the Earth incurred at the time of the Titan’s arrival. Much of old NYC is underwater. The city is now set up in vertical layers with Titans on top. Maybe we’ll learn more in book 2.

The author also speeds over some of the build-up to the main characters’ romance and falling in love. It was insta-fated mates for sure, but forbidden between species. Don’t get me wrong…it was still entertaining, there was just something missing that could have made this book something more. I think it was missing some of the angst or internal emotions of the main characters, which tend to get readers more emotionally invested and hoping for a happy ending.

I would definitely recommend this book because of the uniqueness of the story and the world the author created. I’d give the first book of the series 3.5 stars and hope for more depth in book 2!

It's The Titan's Bride meets Dave the Diver.

Blurb says it's dark. It's like, mid toned at worst.

There are some non con elements, but if you've read anything in the omegaverse you blink and you'll miss these. The darkest part is the tired x-men style racism. "Different body bad" - that type of thing.

I'm not saying the book itself is bad, it's interesting. But doesn't quite scratch that titan itch, you know?

A lot of stuff that should be interesting happens off screen and there's a lot of time skips. A lot of substance is lacking, I feel, for a book that's so heavy in the political intrigue and that has sparse 2 paragraph intimacy scenes. It kinda fails to be both a political book and a smutty MM book while trying hard to be both. In the end I'm a little disappointed.

Think of it like eating a jelly/jam doughnut with the filling scooped out. The doughnut itself is delicious, but there's a lot missing on the inside.

Wouldn’t recommend. If you’re into the second MC (Thorsten or whatever the fck his name was) treating his fated mate like a toy or a plaything then maybe this would be for you.

Starting off his mindset is all wrong. Why would you think that it’s okay to enslave your mate and then collar them with a poisonous device because they try to escape? Honestly I can never understand paranormal stories that offer second MC abusers that the MC is suppose to end up with. It doesn’t sound appealing at all.

Sure this may have a happy ending and so sex but it’s not worth it if the mindset of one of the characters is that the other is lesser than them and ultimately they can do whatever they want to them.

Also the sex scenes aren’t very hot or very good. They are mediocre best. They are vague and short and overall not what I was expecting.

I really wish that in the futures authors would be up front about their stories instead of guiding us in on the hope of a happily ever after when in fact they don’t mention that the MC is going to be abused by their so-called lover or seen as the weaker person and controlled by them. It is not healthy or okay to portray an abusive and toxic relationship. Stockholm syndrome is real in this.

This book had so much promise! The premise was intriguing, but it was just not well executed at all. There were so many problems with this book, from the writing style to the plot itself. They went from enemies to lovers with literally no explanation, and there was no chemistry between the main characters. The dialogue between characters didn't always make sense. This honestly seemed like it was written by AI because the storyline was just so disjointed. Also, the first sex scene was just underwhelming and completely unrealistic. Please tell me how a male virgin would be able to take a "member" the "size of his own forearm" with almost no prep and the only lube was a bar of soap?! I cannot extend my disbelief in reality that far. Even in a fantasy book. Also, I understand that this is a size difference kink, but it was too creepy when the Titan MC kept saying that the human MC was the size of his species "preteens" and the human MC kept saying he felt like a small child while they're having sex. Just felt too much like it was toeing a dangerous line there. So I gave the book 2 stars for the storyline and premise, but it really really was a disappointing read.

Quite good story, I loved reading it.
The two main characters are quite cute together even though a lot of things happend around them.

All the assination attempts where quite ridiculous and everyone around them died. If you don't look too hard at it, the plot twist at the end was kinda "shocking" even if a little predictable with the introduction of the character at the start of the book.

What I missed was more relationship building - sometimes weeks on end got skipped and after they where closer than before. Why? There where some explanations missing of the society, what happend and how it related. Most of those came at the very end of the book. Overall you didn't really "feel" the love between those two characters which bugged me.

Overall it felt rushed and rough around the edges, but very promising. I'm looking forwar to book 2 and finding out how the titans homeworld is. I expect lots of murder, dead bodies and missunderstood situations. We'll see.

Even though the book was reedited, some mistakes remained, but not many.
Like "too" and "two".

The cover art is what got me to read this book but the other reviews made me second guess it. I agree with a lot of them the some parts feel rushed while others drag on. The story about the ruin and the portal I thought was well done. The love story and world building was another story. I felt we didn’t get enough of what goes on in the castle other then how they play with their “pets”. It just didn’t really make you care or understand what was happening there. The love story was 50/50 to me. What we got see I loved however I feel we missed out a lot of growth in that first month time jump. That would have been the perfect point to see them actually fall in love. I am giving this 4 stars instead of 3 because despite when the plot is rushed the book does keep you entertained and interested in most of it and I could still see myself reading it again and am excited to read the next book.

This was really good. Imagine my surprise when I came to Goodreads to rate it and the majority of the ratings were DNFs and 1stars. Really had me shook like uhhh, did we read different books?

This was honestly better than I anticipated because I’ve had it on my tbr for so long and just kept pushing it aside but decided it was time to read it today and I don’t regret picking it up. Not only was the story nice, it was also really funny, especially everyone Thorsten called Kal ‘dwarve.’ 😹😹

I saw majority complaining about the world building. The building was simple but also made a sense given the premise of the story. I love Kal and Thorsten’s relationship and how it development. There wasn’t some intense romance or pining but you could see how deeply Thorsten cared for Kal, through his actions.

I loved this and I’m reading the book 2 as we speak.🥰

DNF. This is just so bad; so rough and crass.

It says above that the story's been re-edited.
As a matter of fact it's extremely difficult to believe it to be edited ever at all even once in the first place. If the author paid anything to anyone they were clearly ripped off, but their writing apparently sucks at such level that they clearly lack the capability to even understand such lack of editing and its importance - which of course is after all a meaningless point if and when an author's own writing is so bad and so unedited by themselves at first. You can't have all your own work done by mere editors, after all. If you can't write better, you can't assess the editing either. Any ordinary reader should spot how awfully done the writing is and the author apparently can't see it.

The premise sounded good and the start of the story seemed oddly better done than the rest by about halfway the story like meant to lure in sample readers. After the couple met it all detoriorated to an unbelievable mess. Unbelievably bad. There's nothing "romantic" nor sexy nor entralling nor charming to it by halfway. The blond titan doesn't remind of the ethereal fairy-elflike creature on the cover at all. More like something off the tv-series The Vikings.

Just no. Not recommended at all: what a really painful trainwreck .

Potential

This book had some real potential but honestly the way it was written was poorly. the could have described things in better detail with less plotholes and although it was 32 chapters it was certainly too fast as it felt rushed and i couldn't get attached to any of the characters. It says its a dark romance but the "darkness" of it is very mild to what im used to, which i believe is due to the lack of detail and characters being poorly thought out.
but overall this was not the worst thing ive ever read and i will be reading the sequel to this one since ive come this far.

Too many errors. The language and description seemed childish. There was also not enough details and things just seemed to happen so it appeared very rushed, choppy or that it had holes. I had to go back and re read things to try and understand but they weren’t clearly explained till after in the novel when it should have been clearly described in the first couple chapters. The character was very immature and just not developed. They barely or did not have any personality. The way they were presented was also displeasing.

I liked it. The world building looked really interesting at the start with this dark apocalyptic scenario and all the city with levels and everything, but it was very poorly developed and it got lost midway through.
Still, the story is enjoyable and a Very light read. I don't see much dark themes except maybe a couple of chapters. I like the action and the overall theme. It's light, predictable but not boring. I skipped most of the smut scenes as it's too painful to imagine it being good in any way.

I love Thorsten, even in his darkness which just seemed to be natural for his kind. Karl however was a firecracker. This gave me the basic fated mate love vibe. The only difference is usually the human doesn’t feel it as intensely as the other. They just instantly clicked even though they definitely went through some phases where I just knew they weren’t gonna make it. The storyline itself was interesting and easy to follow, with a few curve balls thrown in. Some easy to spot and others a complete surprise. Overall a fun read.

what the ??

This book was so drawn out way more than it was needed to be and sometimes the dialogue didn’t make any sense or the sentences weren’t complete or words were missing. There were huge plot holes, and the description doesn’t tell you anything about the actual book which is really frustrating and I can’t even really say that this is a happy ending that they have because they’ve been exiled and shunned and all of that for no reason.
