M.M. Eboch is a pen name for Chris Eboch, used for Jesse Owens: Young Record Breaker and Milton Hershey: Young Chocolatier, both inspirational biographies that are part of Simon & Schuster's Childhood of Famous Americans series.

Ms. Eboch also has books published under her real name, Chris Eboch. Her Haunted series includes The Ghost on the Stairs and The Phantom Pilot. Haunted follows a brother and sister who travel with a ghost hunter TV show and try to help the ghosts. The series, for ages 8-12, features The Ghost on the Stairs, The Riverboat Phantom and The Knight in the Shadows.

Chris is also the author of The Well of Sacrifice, an exciting middle grade Mayan drama, used in schools.

I read this book so I could give a book talk on it to the elementary students where I work. I was a little surprised that this is from the Childhood of Famous Americans series since only half the book took place in Milton Hershey's childhood. Which is a good thing in my eyes since the second half showed his perseverance to succeed. As an adult, I enjoyed reading it but I am wondering if elementary students, for whom the book is intended, will get bogged down in the failure after failure part. It gives a good lesson to persevere but I think it might be tedious for young readers to plow through. I'll have to wait and see what young students think of the book.

Asher read this and declared it his favorite book, so naturally, I had to read it too! I’ve always wanted to visit Hershey, Pennsylvania. Hopefully I can someday and now I know a little more about it’s creator. I would have given this 5 stars, but was disappointed only one paragraph was spent on the Hershey Bar. I guess I need to read an adult version of the story. :)

I would say this is best for older children. Milton Hersey’s sister’s death from scarlet fever could be too much for younger readers. We stopped reading at that point.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It was more entertaining than I anticipated. I had no idea that Hershey first made a name fir himself with caramels.

1) No awards received.

2) Appropriate for grades 2nd through 6th.

3) The book is a story about the famous Milton Hershey and how he found his way to success by creating the famous Hershey Chocolate Brand. The story goes through Milton Hershey's journey as a child with several struggles including him having to drop out of school in 4th grade to help with the financial struggles at home. He started out working in an ice cream parlor to being the founder of a major chocolate company. But it was not just that simple.

4) The story is enjoyable to read and learn from. Children will be able to relate to this story from their own personal experience because a major will know the Hershey brand.

5) In class uses:
- Attempt to make chocolate as a class.
- We will be able to learn about different ingredients.
- For the higher grade levels, have each student pick a favorite chef whether their is a personal experience or one they see on the cooking channel. Have the children do a project and present the class. This would resemble an "All About Me" project where the students will be their chef and will present the class what his/her favorite dish is, the common ingredients the chef uses, who influenced the chef to become a chef. Research should be down during school time and will be gathered together as a class and extra help from librarian.

Milton Hearshy was a famouse American. He was a choclatetar when he was younge. His father was a choclaterary, so he decided for Milton to be one to.

Milton raised money by helping his father in his Reasterant. Milton just didn't want his money at all. So, he beried it in a garden. His parents didn't know that Milton did that. When Milton grew a little older, his father put him in a choclate factory schoo. At the first day of the choclate school, there was kids like him working hard. His teacher took him and said, "can you make choclate?" "A little" said Milton. But the his teach said "I want you to make choclate". This was test.

But, Milton didn't know that was a test. After a while, Milton made choclate. The teacher said "you have failed". Now go home said the teacher.

Milton was glad that he failed because he didn't want to the school at all. When Milton grew up, he became a choclatary. One day Milton gave free samples. He gave one to a chocletary. He loved the free sample a lote. He knew it was caremel. Milton put a sure smile on his face. Milton was a great chocletary.

The book Milton Hershey: Young Chocolatier is about Milton Hershey's life. It talks about his journey through the life when he was poor, to how he got rich with his family. He started out in Lancaster with his first store and traveled to many different places trying to make people happy. This story is told at a narrator's prospective. The main characters are Milton, Henry (his father), Fanny (his mom), and Mattie (his aunt). The main character is of course, Milton Hershey.

I personally like this book because it told me about how the Hershey chocolates became famous. I enjoyed reading this because it also told me how hard it is to start a business. I think that this writing is effective because no matter how many times Milton failed, he kept on trying. That is important because that is how the business actually started. The strengths of this book are that it shows how to never give up. If this book was part of a series I might read it because I liked this book, but I don't love reading biographies. I would recommend this book to a classmate because it is really interesting to see how Hershey chocolates started.

I enjoyed reading this book. i thought it was really fun learning about Milton Hershey. The story had good facts but it was also enjoyable to read. I liked how the author planned out his life and made it seem like these characters were alive today. It was cool how Milton came from a poor familiy but succeeded in the end. I overall reccomend this book if you enjoy nonfiction that is fun to read.

I REALLY like this book. I mean I REALLY like this book. I loved watching this man's life unfold. It wasn't easy and he had many setbacks, but he just kept on trying and trying and trying to do better. It was so inspiring to me (and fun to see him pursue his passion).
