Cheryl Byrd was born on 9 June 1947 in Clarksville, Tennessee, USA, daughter of Nancy, a sales manager, and Smith Henry Byrd, a military officer. As an army brat, she has lived in Tennessee, Texas, Georgia, Kentucky, the Mississippi Gulf Coast, southern California, Great Britain, and Germany. Growing up, she changed schools ten times in twelve years. She has been an Anglophile since she discovered the Dr. Dolittle books at about the age of seven. After enduring serious frustration when she could not learn to talk to the animals, she stuck to reading and devoured the Mary Poppins series, the Borrowers, and anything else English she could find, enjoying, as she grew, many British writers including the wonderful Jane Austen and even the Bard himself. And somewhere along the way, the writing bug bit, as well.

On 2 June 1967, she married Q. J. Wasden, a sales manager. They had two children: Quinton John and Michelle Nicole, and divorced in September 1979. On 20 June 1982, she married Charles O. Zach Jr., the president of a die casting company, who died on 1990. She obtained a BA (1968) and MA (1977) in English Literature at Austin Peay State University. She worked as high school English teacher in Harrison County, MS, 1970-71; as freelance journalist, 1976-77; high school English teacher in Dyersburg, TN, 1978-82; before stopping to write full time.

As Cheryl Zach, she wrote Young Adult and romance novels, she also used the pseudonym of Jennifer Cole. So after publishing over thirty books in various genres, she was thrilled to write books. But, she loves history, most of all English history, and most wanted to write historical adventure set in the English Regency period–Jane Austen’s era. The first books as Nicole Byrd were written with her daughter Michelle Nicole Wasden Place. When Michelle became too busy with a growing family to do more than function as the world’s best critique partner, the later books were written on her own. The books in the Sinclair Family Saga have been a delight to write, and the characters have become as familiar and beloved as old friends.

Her book Benny and the No-Good Teacher was a nominee for the South Carolina Children’s Book Award and her book, The Class Trip was an International Reading Association/Children’s Book Award. Zach is the first young adult writer to be inducted into the Romance Writers of America’s Hall of Fame. She was also the first recipient of Young Adult Network’s Silver Diary Award. Her historical novel, Hearts Divided, won the 1996 Virginia Romance Writer’s Holt Medallion in the Young Adult category. Her articles have appeared in The Writer magazine, Children's Writer, and the Writer's Handbook. She is the current chairperson of the SCBWI Regional Advisors.

I have mixed feelings about this book ... Generally I like this kind of story but this was a bit too much (or too less). But more I think about it more agrivated I'm becoming and less stars I'm giving ... grrrrr

Ok, hero comes home and finds out that his beloved fiancee is already married (and has a child). Poor guy ... not. He is in a pickle - he has to marry and produce an offspring as soon as possible because some guys are coming after him to put him in a jail (the ''big horrible'' secret) and he might soon die. So he marries the younger sister - she offers herself, actually, because she loved him forever and hopes he will eventually love her back blah-blah-blah. Ahhhh ...

So when evil man wants to arrest Robert, he and Katryn embark on a quest to save his good name.

But you just know that when na ex-fiancee whants to help to clear his name too there will be some tense and hero-is-stupid moments. And he is.

I mean, he and his wife has some lovely-dovely moments and all, but when golden Eleanor comes on the scene he completely forgets who his wife is. And this is sooooo frustrating!!!!! Because all they to is gaze lovingly and yearningly on each other. And they don't speak at all to each other! I mean ... They are both pretty one-dimensional characters, actually.

Then they finally kiss. And realise they've changed and aren't right for each other. And Katryn sees them. And both of them are "Nothing happened." Yeh, right. Stupid liars. And heroine tells him she wants to leave him. And he has a revelation about loving his wife. And then they clean his name.

And this happens exactly this fast an there is no build-up or ... anything. Just I-was-stupid-I-love-you-and-not-your-sister. No real grovelling, nothing. And he wants to laugh when Katryn and stupid sister fight over him. And he compares them to chickens. Is that supposed to bi funnny? I think not! It's degrading to heroine (the ex is chicken, I'll give him that) and totally inappropriate ... And his response just made me sooooooooo mad. I all I could think was "Girl, just go ..."

And I looooooove love epilogue (I mean, what kind of book doesn't have an epilogue??) but this one left me down.

Too light read which strives to be more, but failing.

Did anyone notice that the summary on here is for the wrong book?

Anyway, I hate this premise and I hate this book. That being said, I read it in one day so that counts for something.. Stupid Hero in love with heroine's big sister and while he's married to heroine he is still in love with the gosh darn golden sister... While I was reading this book I felt like I was being cheated on... Not exactly what I hope for when I pick up a suppose to be steamy romance novel. I love this author though and will not give up on her other books.

Love this story! Though I do wish Katryn had smacked Eleanor and informed Eleanor's husband about what his trampy wife was up to... LOL =P

Typical, but still enjoyable. It is in the predictability that i loose my self, which is exactly want i want from a book. It is a nice easy read.
