I really liked this book. This is a fantasy why choose that ends with a pretty rough cliffhanger, so now I'm itching for book 2. Some spoilers below.

The story is really good, and I liked the world. Most of the characters are likable, although, I feel like there is so much focus on the world-building and plot, that we did not get as much out of the characters as we would like. Kaia is OK - she's your average FMC in a fantasy book. She has ~no power~ (sure, Jan), has tragically lost family members, and has trained in secret every day of her life. I was a little confused by her because in the first 3 chapters, she seems to have been preparing her whole life for this type of interrogation and torture, and then for the rest of the book, she's like I have no idea what's going on and she wants to trust all of the bad guys. The book started with it really seeming like she knew what was going to happen with her father and had a plan, and then that was disproved pretty quickly.

The guys are great. This book is definitely more focused on Griffin and E.Z. rather than Ash and Aiden (side note, I HATE the nickname "E.Z."; there were too many damn periods in this book lol). For the last 20% of the book, E.Z. is the only guy in the book, which I was a little bored by, but he's funny and sweet. I like E.Z., but I did want to know what the other guys were up to. I like Griffin, Aiden, and Ash, and I hope we get more of them in the next book. I loved Ash and Kaia's back and forth, although, I think Kaia was really cruel to him for the first half of the book. He literally saved her life and abandoned his dying brother for her, and she's a complete cold-hearted bitch to him.

My only big issue with this book is that there was soooo much talk about the plot and the world-building. I got bored, and I needed more character interaction and romance. There was also so much useless inner monologue. All of the chapters had soo many pages of inner monologue that I started skimming it to just get to the next point in the story. Even worse is when there'd be like 5 paragraphs of inner monologue in the middle of a conversation. It made it difficult to follow the dialogue. For example, there are 3 paragraphs about Kaia's favorite flower. We were also told approximately 834 times that magic is disappearing from the land and no one knows the cause. Anyways, obviously I'm hoping for a bit more romance in the next book because, for a fantasy reverse harem romance, there was very little romance in this with anyone besides a little with E.Z. at the end.

I'd also like a little more explanation about this bond. Do all of the guys know they will bond with Kaia because Ash seems to know, E.Z. has already bonded with her, Griffin seemed to release the shield on her Earth magic when they pecked, and Aiden is her "keeper."

Anyways, this was a good fantasy why choose. I'll probably read the next book, but I need less world-building/inner monologue and more chemistry/romance, as well as character interaction and development. Not much happens in this book (there's a fair amount of set-up and information dumping), so I'm hopeful the next book is more exciting.

I want to write a proper review for this book because I took my time to finish it even if I wanted to DNF this at 40%.

I went into this book blind because I saw it highly recommended in one social media reading group I am in.

I generally enjoy books with a strong and smart MC, and this book has the exact opposite.

Our Damsel in distress starts off on a strong note. She persevered prolonged torture using sheer strong will. Perfect! And then one of the many potential love interests appears, mysterious and with some history? Nice!

I was really hoping to like this book, but I have never seen such a pathetic FMC in a long time. It’s shocking.

Everything went downhill as soon as Ash tried to whisk her away to safety. She, in Ash’s words “chose to talk rather than walk”. This ultimately leads to Liam’s death — she knows it, Ash knows it, we all know it. And yet, she chose to blame Ash, why???

I am a sucker for reverse harem/why chose stories but I struggle to swallow the guys’ attraction to Kaia because there is nothing attractive about her at all. She makes questionable choices, has cringe pick-up lines, and is just constantly horny. River would have been a better FMC.

I could understand why Ash or Liam might have had feelings for Kaia since they are all childhood friends, but as for the other guys, I have no clue. Was it just insta-lust? What a shame.

The narration (in Kaia’s perspective) kept switching between the names Elijah and Ash. What is up with that?

The choice of interjections also distracted me from what I believe are more important things in the story. For example, as they were running out of the castle and encounters each new guy one at a time, Kaia’s inner thoughts cannot, for the love of God, focus on the task at hand. They were running for their lives and she’s here retelling their biographies. I feel like these descriptions would have been better placed elsewhere in the story.

Ash’s attitude shifts are also weird. The transition is never smooth, and I always feel I am being jostled around. His personality and Griff’s are too close to each other that they blend in. Aiden is too blank. Only Ezra has a solid personality.

The banters made me cringe. I got second hand embarrassment as she interrogated Aiden about some rumors instead of asking what in the world is actually happening?

The world building was also sloppy. We are thrown terms such as Keeper and Claiming, and although we can sort of infer what these means, it was never explicitly explained. Like does it even have any weight aside from maybe a legal binding? 🤷‍♀️

I was left scratching my head a handful of times because even the characters are confused in what they believe in. One moment, Griff says he does not think Eryck attempted to kill the king, but on the very next page, he says otherwise. It’s hard to suspend disbelief if the foundations that could have held it is weak.

And then when political agendas came into view, it felt as if I was forced to sit down in classroom that I did not enrol in. It felt like a propaganda instead of a relatable cause.

And then we got to the concept of “bonding”, and bondeds get to talk telepathically (sounds familiar?), which was haphazardly thrown in the last few chapters.

The book was unfortunately not proofread properly as well. There is a part where it says “releasing” when they meant “realizing”. At one point Kaia was called “Kia”. And her mom’s name is sometimes “Arianne” and other times “Arianna”. For reference, the version I read was the Kindle edition.

I understand that this is the author’s first book, and I do not doubt that she will be able to write great stories in the future. There is so much potential in this story, but was just not executed properly. I believe the book could have used a bit more work.

I loved this book. Could not put it down. I feel like this book went by too quickly and I am needing the rest ASAP. I love the characters and how each one had their own pull to them. I really like how things just run so smoothly writing wise that there aren’t parts of confusion or lack of interest from a readers POV. I love the banter and the potential that comes with it. Like I’m still checking if I accidentally skip to the end because I feel not ready not know what comes next until next year. Bella Leah Michaels 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I had the privilege of receiving this arc from the author! I was also honored to work on the map and character art for this book.

Bella Leigh put so much work and love into her story, and I knew from our talks about the artwork alone this!

The story starts off with lots of heavy themes and actions. Kaia is being tortured and interrogated about her father’s treason and possibly hers as well. Immediately you feel for her and desperately hope she is able to escape. The world building was easy to follow, and the magic and lore was very unique and fascinating.

I did feel like the middle dragged a bit, plot wise. It was mostly character development focused at this point! Which was totally fine. we got to get to know the guys a bit and get Kaia’s POVs mostly on her feelings and thoughts on them.

The ending was wild and chaotic - but in a good way. 🤣 we DID get some spice near the later half of the book. The ending was a big ol’ cliff hanger. I am interested to see what happens next!! I hope we see more Ash. 😎 so if you’re reading this MAAM PLEASE. 🙏 🤣

An awesome start to a new romantacy series, I look forward to seeing what else happens in this story!! Thank you for the arc!! 🖤🖤

Thank you so much to Bella Leigh Michaels for my Review Copy of 𝐀 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬! This review is comprised entirely of my own thoughts & opinions, & is based on the copy I received.

This book was an absolutely amazing read!! I’m so mad at myself for waiting so long to read it! Everything about it was amazing. Bella’s story writing prose is absolutely STUNNING! This book was so well written and the plot flowed so beautifully, I couldn’t get enough of it. The fantasy and romance pieces are perfectly weaved and created such an emotionally impactful and hauntingly beautiful read. I can’t stop thinking about it!

We start off in the action - the stakes are 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 from page 1 and they don’t slow down at all through the whole book. My emotions were all over the place during the first half, and I don’t want to give anything away but there’s just so much that happens and, as you can tell from my rambling, it was unexpected and heartbreaking and you just don’t see it coming.

Kaia is an awesome FMC and I love how brave she is. And don’t get me started on our MMCs!! I love them all. I think they’re all perfect for Kaia in different ways and the chemistry with all of them is spectacular. Ash is our broody leader, Ez is our sweet golden retriever flirt, Aiden is quiet and mysterious and there’s definitely more to him, and Griffin is solid and stoic and fiercely protective. They’re all such a perfect combination and the banter we get it phenomenal!

This book was a perfect set up for the future of the series and I’m so excited to see where Bella goes from here! I have so many questions and the way this one ended had me absolutely screaming! I can’t wait for the next book and I think Bella has created something incredibly special with this world!

✨ARC Review✨
That ending just pulled at my heartstrings!!! I need the second book now. I devoured this book in a couple of hours!🔥The secrets, lies, betrayal, lust, and of course the broken promises.

So many different emotions. I laughed so much during the questions part. I grew to love all the main characters. Usually, one guy is a favorite but they were all special in their unique ways. They were just perfect together.

The actions of Kaia’s father left her in a terrible position where her life was not safe anymore. A group of men put their life and reputations on the line to save and protect her and not everything goes to plan.

“I promised him, on my honor, that I would always ensure you were safely delivered.”
Elijah Ashton also known as Ash or Kaia’s ash-hole😂. Ash is 6 years older than Kaia. She’s always had a crush on him. He’s pretty much the planner and leader.

“Oh no, friends call me EZ. But you, pretty girls, can call me anything you want.”
Ezra also known as Ez. I could not get enough of him!! I loved him so much, maybe a little more than the others😉🤫. His personality was so warm. The flirting and dirty jokes were a breath of fresh air between all the twists and turns that happened.

“Any man would be lucky to be called your keeper.”
Griffen Greenbrier was the silent grumpy man but an observer. He knows when someone is hiding something and the comes very handy in the group. Especially when we are thrown off by someone meeting them.

“Is that what you’re interested in? My deepest and darkest?”
Aiden, the mystery man. Not much I can share about him that will give away too much but just know. You will like him too!

This book was fast-paced with action at the beginning. Then as we learn there are secrets, lies, and broken promises. It captures you wanting to know more and more. The slow burn was 🔥🔥🔥. I can’t wait to see what the next book holds!

Thank you so much Bella Michaels for allowing me to be part of your ARC team. As always, my review is my opinion and thoughts.

Where to start? Where to start? Bella Leigh are you sure this is your DEBUT? Because there’s just no way. I can’t wrap my head around how this is your first book because if that’s the case then I’m scared to see what you have up your sleeve.

I don’t think I’ve been this obsessed with a book in ages. I swear it was all I could think about throughout the day. It didn’t matter what I was doing deep down all I wanted to do was get home and keep on reading. I used every possible second I had trying to make progress to see what would happen next.

Everything about this book caught my attention especially the characters. I mean this group is something special for sure. Our FMC is a total badass who needs to wake up and realize just how amazing she is. Not to mention all the guys. I just love getting to meet all of them and what they each bring to the group. I mean we have EZ’s humor, Griffin’s protectiveness, Aiden’s knowledge/wisdom, and Ash’s moodiness. What’s not to like? I can’t wait to see what this group does once they get their crap together.

Now, let me talk about that ENDING because like WHAT? I swear that I finished the book and proceeded to have a mini-existential crisis before hurrying over to message the evil genius that is Bella Leigh Michaels. It’s just not fair. I get put through all of that for the book to have that ending!? I seriously think this sort of thing should be illegal in the bookish community. Even so, I have to hand it to Bella Leigh in saying that it was a genius move. Her ending literally leaves you craving for more. Like I simply HAVE to know what happens next.

Soooo… if it hasn’t been made clear with all my venting and raging I absolutely LOVED this book and am 100000% OBSESSED with it. I seriously think you should read it once it comes out. In fact, I INSIST because I can’t be the only one on this wild ride that Bella Leigh has started. Also, like look at the cover! Isn’t it gorgeous!?

This was a fantastic read that sucked me into the story from the very first page. Usually I’m not a huge fan of stories that put you directly in the action and force you to figure out the world as you read, but it really worked for this particular story. While this is classified as a ‘why-choose’ romantasy novel, there was really very little romantic interaction in this first installment. I would imagine this will ramp up as the series progresses, but the first book was a phenomenal introduction to the world, the magic system, and the major players. Reader be warned: this book has a MAJOR cliffy!

A Court of Broken Promises opens with the questioning and trial of Kaia—daughter of the Captain of the Guard, who was just executed for treason and attempted regicide. Much to the doubt of the Councilmen, Kaia stands resolute in her stance of innocence and that of her father’s. In order to inflict as much punishment as possible, the Council decides to sentence Kaia to life with a Keeper (a male magic user and partner for the Claimed) of the Council’s choosing. Resigned to her fate, Kaia is placed back in custody. However, in a daring plan of escape, she is released by her best friend, Liam, and his brother, Ash. There is a history between Ash and Kaia that is alluded to, that makes Kaia tense and aloof around Ash. Regardless of the tense history between the two, Kaia trusts Ash to help her escape the castle. Once out of the Council’s clutches, Kaia and Ash meet up with three more of Ash’s friends—each of the four strongly wield one of the different magical elements (Air, Water, Fire, and Earth), and each feel a connection with Kaia. Kaia and the boys must learn to navigate the newly found connections, awakened magic, and relationships with the rebels in order to not only save themselves, but hopefully the kingdom from nefarious plots within.

My review cannot do this book the justice it deserves. The author is a debut author, but the writing did not feel like a debut author. It was polished, descriptive, and the prose pulled you in from the very first word. The character development in this story is some of the best that I’ve read, and the characters really drive the plot. Each of the boys are different and unique with their own goals, personalities, and character flaws. With so many male main characters, sometimes the personalities and traits can blend together and create more of a lump of one character rather than distinct individuals. This was not the case at all for this story, and I fully enjoyed seeing the various personalities and traits come to life during this book. Kaia is also well written, she’s strong, but absolutely has weaknesses when those she cares about are in duress. She always acts within the confines of her character, and I never felt like she was overdone or not done enough. The only thing I wished for was a demonstration of her supposed fighting prowess. This was mentioned a few times throughout the book, but Kaia never once used these skills while escaping with the boys. Hopefully this comes into play in the future books and isn’t just a piece that is told rather than seen.

This is a ‘why-choose’ romance, but the romance portion was very brief in this installment. While I love a good RH, sometimes with these types of books the love/connection/physical portion of the relationship is instant and a connection is not developed first. I feel like the author has done a phenomenal job of creating the characterizations and connections before launching into the inevitable physical portion of the relationships.

This was a phenomenal read and I definitely recommend it! I’m looking forward to reading the second book.

This book was sent to me as an ARC.

Honestly, the idea and the story of the book were very intriguing, but the execution felt a bit lacking. I kept waiting for the story to move past the fact that they’re travelling in the woods for days, and for the actual action to take place, but that never happened. Which also took away from the world building, and character building.

My biggest problem with this book is that I also find the FMC a walking (a bit degrading) stereotype. She’s travelling with several male companions after experiencing several severe traumas (physical and mental), yet all she can think about is how she wants to sleep with all of them, and what they all smell like?! It felt like the male gaze made its way through her inner monologue… she also never does anything, and yet she thinks very highly of her wit, humour, and skills.

The third act of the book was also a bit chaotic and felt rushed. In my humble opinion, the third act would have served better as a second act, which would have given the author more time to dive into character building, and more action (which felt none existent).

Overall, the core idea of the book has great potential, but the writing style and FMC aren’t my cup of tea. Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to read your book.

It started so strong and the premise sounded great. I mean starting off with the trial scene was a stroke of genius. I myself am not keen on a build up, just give me action straight away and I’m happy. It gave you an insight into the torture she already suffered and showed how strong her character really was.

The magic aspect was a surprise, but not unwelcome. I think the 4 elements sounded interesting.

The men were … meh. They came across as stale and a little hard to swallow. Also a little bland. I finished at 41% and up to this point there had been zero chemistry. 0. It might be my impatience, but it started off so well and now it’s just dragging.

The FMC also misdirects her anger a lot and I mean a lot. These men have just saved her from prison, lost their position as soldiers and have all lost someone close to them, and she’s out here playing the blame game. I get that grief and guilt go hand in hand, but I was getting really irritated with how frequently she exhibited such bratty behaviour.

It will probably develop a bit more in the coming chapters, but I don’t wanna have to skim to find out. I don’t think this is the book for my current mood.

These other reviews baffle me.

I think the cool, capable, slightly vulnerable yet deductive heroine got bashed in the head one too many times during her interrogation bc the immature, hurtful bitch that is Kaia is not someone I want to keep reading about.

The plot was ultra transparent at the beginning, where it was just too easy to follow why and author might want to add a certain scene. Take, for example, the argument Kaia started during the escape, where (bc she isn‘t stupid, see!!) she decides she must know every detail of her escape bc she can‘t blindly trust her (lifelong!!!) family friend.

And all of that talk about self-sacrifice and not being ok with them taking on such a risk for her to, presumably, show us how caring Kaia is. Which immediately evaporates when she puts the entirety of the blame on Ash when things go sideways.

Overall, the mediocre world building did nothing to distract me from the shitty fmc, the fact that one of the men is named E.Z. (barf), and the endless inner ramblings that added 0 depth to any of the characters.

♡NO SPOILERS♡

☆This was an arc I signed up for. My following review is honest and genuinely what my thoughts and feelings were while reading it.☆

-I devoured this story!! I am not a Why Choose girlie, I haven’t read one I’ve liked but this one is it! We’ve got elemental magic, hidden secrets, 4 SUPER HOT and protective MEN. I love spice but I tend to enjoy it when it’s a slow burn. I live for the tension and light touches here and there. I enjoyed the pacing and felt like I actually got to know each of the men instead of being force fed the attraction.

-Now let’s talk about our leading lady: Kaia. She is strong and just so caring and genuine with her kindness. The way the book opens up gives us a glimpse of what our FMC has to face and how she does it gracefully.

-The boys: Elijah, Ezra, Griff and Aiden. Each of the guys have such different personalities which is why they work so good together.
We got the grumpy Elijah who puts the weight of the world on his shoulder. Also the leader of the group.
Aiden, the smart and logical one, who we know the least about.
Griff the tall and quiet one who isn’t a man of many words.
And then we have EZ, the sunshine of the group. The flirty and charming one that you can always count on to make inappropriate jokes at any given time.
(Elijah is my favorite then EZ).

-I didn’t expect to love this the way I ended up loving it. I am in depression because now I have to wait till who knows when for the next book:-( If you enjoy strong friendship bonds, slow burn with plot and dashes of spice, things not being as they seem. And a kingdom filled with lies and betrayal. You’ll want to add this to your TBR!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ARC Review

This is my first ARC and review so bear with me.

Kaia is a sheltered headstrong girl who grew up in the Capital with Elijah (Ash-hole sweetly nicknamed by our MC) and his brother, best friend Liam.
When Kaia is arrested after her father is executed for treason. Elijah and his team of trained soldiers break Kaia out of prison and escape the Capital.

Elijah is broody and seemlingly hates our MC, but stops at nothing to get her to safety. There is more to this guy than meets the eye and I cannot wait to get to know him more.

We meet Griffin, with his silent heated gazes and grumpy guarded exterior. I absolutely adored reading his chapter and reactions to Kaia.

Ezra know as EZ full on charmer with his flirting one liners and cheeky comments. Helping Kaia stay grounded and distracted after all her trauma.

Lastly we meet Aiden a bit of a mystery man who left the capital with all sorts of rumours following his departure. When Kaia interrogates Aiden to find out if any of the outlandish and ridiculous rumours were true had me in hysterics!

This book has the feels, witty banter and a healthy dose of spice. A few moments left me a bit confused, but could have been me devouring the book so quickly I skipped something. This is a why-choose and boy am I here for it, I don’t think you could pick from these hunks. The cliffhanger at the end will have you screaming, I kept trying to turn the pages as I was sure that could not be the end. I am dying in anticipation for book 2.

Kaia Noelani is being tortured by the kingdom after her father was killed for treason. Kaia knows her father would never do any like that. After being tortured for weeks with just enough healing to prevent her from dying, Kaia was able to get out with the help of Eliam, Elijah and his bestfriends, Griffin, Ezra and Aiden. They gave up the only life they knew to get Kaia to safety.

There was a catch. Aiden was to be Kaia's keeper. Arranged marriages were thing to do in the Adarian capitol. Kaia figured that her father had someone ready for her but they had not gotten a chance to discuss it. Elijah has been trying to stay away from Kaia but has always been drawn to her and her to him. He can't let his feelings for her get in the way of keeping her safe and figuring out what exactly is going on in the capitol. Kaia had watched all the guys train but Elijah was where her focus always ended up.

Will this mystery be solved? This book ends on a huge cliffhanger. I will be anxiously waiting for the next book in this series. The guys are close. Their magic is beyond measure when together. I have to know where Kaia falls into all of this. The boys have a connection. They can read each other's feelings and talk to each other without talking. As soon as Ezra, EZ, and Kaia got close, they were able to feel each other as well. EZ knows that somehow Kaia is his mate but can't see how that will work with one friend that is in love with her and one friend betrothed to her. This is going to get messy and I am here for it.

Book: A Court Of Broken Promises
Author: Bella Leigh Michaels

Stars:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Review:
To start! I NEED book 2 like right now!!! Ive read other books with cliffhangers but none of them have hit me like this! All of the secrets, betrayals, mistrust and lies in this book make for a crazy read! I could definitely feel so many of the characters emotions through the whole book because Bella wrote so connected to her characters!

I LOVE the FMC like her was everything your looking for with a strong female! I think thats something a lot of books are missing is the female leader and it actually being believable! Noww the male characters let just say I absolutely love them all! This is definitely a why choose for me 😂 I just can’t do it lol

I loved reading this story! So if your looking for a story with many amazing tropes like suspense, alpha males, why choose, found family, magic with the humor in the book and the perfect amount of spice then this is definitely a book for u!!! Amazing Debut Novel!!!

4.75 stars because of that fucking cliffhanger!!!!

I knew it was going to be one but fuck! That was a doozy!!!

This is Bella Leigh Michaels debut and it’s a fucking banger! The way this book starts out so strong, and just pulls you in, I LOVED it!

I love world building and plot, so I was very intrigued by the elemental magic, history, story, etc. folks who are more romance than fantasy might not enjoy the majority of this book but those who love fantasy as much as romance will loooooove it!

The pacing of this book seems at times too slow and too fast and a bit chaotic but when you look at Kaia’s life it makes sense! Her life since her Father’s death has been nothing but chaos.

The jealousy elements weren’t my favorite as there’s normally no jealousy in a why choose/RH but the more I learned of her world and the upbringing they have where she lived in the capital the more it made sense. They have a lot of unlearning to do.

I can’t wait for the rest of the series! I HAVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THAT CLIFFHANGER!!!

I normally don't read these kind of books, the ones that are set in a different world but I'm so glad I read this one..
What happens when you find out most of your life as you know it, has been a lie? How do you handle it? How do you know who you can trust? These are all questions Kaia has to ask herself in this story, as she learns her father isn't who she thought he was and when she needed someone, there were four amazing men who risk their lives for her.. To see her free and happy.
This book contains action packed scenes, sadness, happiness, a girl finding her own way and four men who each have things about them she can see..that no-one else does. Ash, Aiden, Griffin and Ez are unique in their own ways and I dont think the story would be the same without each of them being there.
I will say it ends on a cliffhanger but its so good, you won't be disappointed and you will want to read the second book when it comes out!!!

Great book. First off the way the book started with Kaia. I didn’t know how that was going to go. With them accusing her of treason and what the next steps would be when the king sent her away. I found out much later in the book what he ordered for her. She was accused of treason because of her father. Her father was accused of attempting to kill the king. So he was killed. All the guys in the book wanting to protect her were great. My favorite was EZ. He had the biggest role in the book and he was a comedian. Loved him. A lot happened in the book and I don’t want to spoil it for everyone. It is a must read!! Kaia had powers that she was not aware of. Griffin is the one who showed her what her power was. She still needs to learn how to use it and a bunch of other magical things that the guys can show her.

OMG! This book was Amazing! ❤️❤️❤️

This is my first ARC and I totally loved it. The men in this book are so dreamy each in their own unique way, and Kaia is the badass female main character I am always looking for.😍

I laughed so hard at multiple points in the book, Kaia and the guy’s interactions are sometimes absolutely hilarious with their sarcasm and matching wits❤️

So many unexpected turns and I absolutely adored the guys (still can’t seem to choose my favourite, I must re-read before deciding)

This book took me just 2 nights to read and had me hooked from start to finish!

Congratulations Bella Leigh, I am so grateful to you for letting me read your amazing book as an ARC reader! ❤️

This is a fantasy, slow burn, why choose. I loved every minute of it! The secrets, the lies, the betrayal, and the constant lust between them all.
Kaia’s father is executed for attempting to assassinate the King. Kaia is arrested and tortured because they believe she has information.
Her father’s men rescue her and promise to help her find answers.
There is Elijah/Ash the grumpy, broody one.
Griffin the broody, quiet man of few words.
Ezra/EZ the flirt and jokester.
And Aiden the quiet, bookish one with secrets.
The banter in this book is hilarious. EZ is over the top with his flirting that will have you laughing.
There is a HUGE cliffy and now I need book two yesterday.

Thank you Bella for allowing me to ARC read this wonderful book. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Fantasy Why Choose?!?! Yes please! I hope that is where this series is headed!!! Don’t get me wrong, this is definitely a slow burn but it is the first in the series and the world building is extremely well written. Also this ends with a MAJOR cliffhanger so be prepared!!

Kaia is accused of treason when her father was put to death by being aligned with known rebels. She is placed in a dungeon and tortured for days. Until one night, Elijah(Ash), the heir to the throne breaks her out with the help of his friends and brother. Elijah has done everything he could to stay away from her but no one can stop the inevitable attraction between her and him, along with all the other men who saved her.

If you love:
🖤Magic
🖤Angst
🖤Multi POVs
🖤Touch Her and 💀
🖤Fated Mates
You need to read this one!

Oh my word. What a cliffhanger to be dangling off..... 😱😱😱
This debut novel by Bella Leigh Michaels is absolutely amazing, it pulls on all the heart strings with a strong FMC Kaia, who is witty, full of spunk and sometimes so sarcastic, you have to laugh. This book is magical with a political uprising. The last few chapters of this book revealed so much and brings forth so many questions and truths to be revealed.
I personally can't wait to see how her relationship grows with Elijah, Griffen, Aiden and Ezra.
I loved this book but I need the next book NOW please, the suspense is just too much....
Well done Bella on your Debut Novel,❤️ absolutely loved it, just don't enjoying dangling off the cliff😂😂😂

Kaia lived a happy life until her father was executed and she was thrown in jail being Tortured for what she didn’t understand .
They said her dad tried to kill the king and believed she knew why but she doesn’t.

She’s rescued by old friends
She has a secret that no one knows about the people she’s with can use there elements of earth water air and fire .
She’s always believed she didn’t have one until she gets further away from the kingdom and she starts to fill things
This is a slow burner of a book seems to explain what is going on and who the characters are .
It ends on a cliffhanger
I would recommend this book.

A Court of Broken Promises

After Kaia’s father is executed, she must chose how to more forward. She is also questioned about being a traitor. She has no magic, and without her father, she must live with a keeper.

Ash and Liam along with a whole group come to rescue Kaia. On the way out they are ambushed. Who will become her keeper? She must stay out of the hands of her captors but she must make some sacrifices and decisions.

This is a slow burn, RH, fantasy romance written in multiple POV with one heck of an ending!!! If fantasy is your thing then you will love this book! Oh and the spice isn’t bad either. 😏

A Court of Broken Promises
By Bella Leigh Michaels

My Rating 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was a pleasure to read. Even though it is an extremely slow burn, the world and characters are so well written and developed that the book keeps you engaged all the way through. Even the major cliffhanger couldn't put me off this book.

If you like fantasy/romance with some spice, magic, and lots of banter, then you really need to read this book.

I need book 2 RIGHT NOW. I have officially become an avid follower of anything Bella Leigh Michaels will release now, and I look forward to following her writing closely.

Look, this book was far from perfect. There were some grammatical mistakes, the author kept repeating herself sometimes even word for word and it felt like she couldn’t figure out what kind of character Kaia is and it kept changing until like 50% mark….
So why 4🌟? I couldn’t put it down. I loved the guys and the book had me grinning like an idiot more than a few times. I liked the plot even if it is somehow predictable and I’m genuinely curious how it will play out with the magic, but also with the guys.

Also, another little -, my boy Griffin stopped existing by the end of the book?????? So not fair to him tbh and I hope we’ll get more of him in the second book.

This book begins with Kaia being on trail for her father crime. She insists that she is innocent but the Council don’t believe and sentence her to a Keeper for life. But her friends have been planning on her escape. Once free they will meet up with some of the guys friends and each will feel a connection with her. As they discover more about their new magic, they will build on their relationship with each other. This is incredible adventure they carry us and an amazing cliffhanger ending.

Um… excuse me? I read this on my kindle and went to hit the next page and got my “Before you go” page… like go? Go where?? This cliffhanger!! Ugh! I need book 2 please. Kaia was ok… but her story is compelling. I kept wondering where are we headed and before I know it BAM end of book 1. There is so much that we have to learn. The secrets that have been revealed so far have my interests peaked! I’m definitely buying the paperback for my shelf! (My trophy!)
