Admittedly not all of the plays are excellent, but the good ones are so very, very good that this has to be 5 stars.
Plays in this book semi-ordered by my appreciation (highest on top): - Equus - Amadeus - Five Finger Exercise - White Liars * Preface - The Royal Hunt of the Sun (some sock-puppetry but many great lines) - Shrivings - The Public Eye - The Private Ear - Black Comedy (a farce which probably works better seen than read)
This time, I just read 'Five Finger Exercise.' It was fine. A little obvious. But fine. The rating would be just three stars if it didn't share a spine with 'Amadeus,' 'Equus,' and 'Black Comedy.'
