This was a pleasantly surprising Elseworlds tale. In Elseworlds, popular characters are placed in different situations or realities. In this case we have Batman and Daredevil both in NYC working together to deal with Mr. Hyde and Two-Face.
Now normally, a team up like this can devolve into some bad storytelling. That is happily not the case here. Both Batman, who is portrayed as the World's Greatest Detective, and Daredevil are very well written and true to their character's persona. Daredevil is still idealistic and seeks redemption and rehabilitation. Batman is vengeful and dark. Their mutual outlooks color their perception of Harvey Dent. In this tale, Dent and Murdock knew each other from their Law School days. I enjoyed the back and forth between Batman and Daredevil, in terms of them arguing their particular philosophy. It is instructive to see the difference between Batman and Daredevil. I also enjoyed their different styles. Batman is the consummate detective, using high-tech means to come to a conclusion. Daredevil uses his heightened senses to find clues. Together, they are a great team.
The artwork was different. Initially I did not care for it, but as the tale progressed it grew on me. While, my stylistic preference is different-this art slowly won me over. It isn't great, but it is not bad. Some of the panels, especially between Daredevil and Batman fighting, work well. Some of the panels do not. I wish, there were more detail in this art. But it is not bad for what it is. The story itself deserves a 4/5. The art a 3/5.
I enjoyed this Elseworlds tale. Batman and Daredevil make a good team up. The subtle differences between the two, even though at first glance they seem very familiar, are well illustrated by the writer. The tale is a good one and well crafted even as it stands astride two separate worlds (MArvel and DC). The writer knows his characters well and even the ending with Two-Face's action while declaring "That was the last of Harvey Dent" is plausible.
So I would recommend this for any Batman or Daredevil fan. Unlike many team ups this does not fall flat nor does it fundamentally change the characters just to have them feasibly interact. That is a wonderful gift in a writer. While the art isn't the greatest, it has a way of just "working" for this story. So all things in total- this is a wonderful addition to my library and one I gladly recommend to anyone that likes a good Elseworlds tale.
D.G. Chichester, one of my favorite Hardware writers, teams with Scott McDaniel, the man who would eventually botch Static in the New 52, for an Elseworlds crossover showing Batman & Daredevil team up to stop Two Face and Mr. Hyde.
And sadly, like most Marvel/DC crossovers and Elseworlds titles, this was pretty mid. I was expecting a little more out of this, especially since D.G. Chichester’s Milestone work is some of my favorite, but I usually find myself never really enjoying Elseworlds stories. They just feel lame.
Another DC/Marvel crossover I missed reading; found it in my garage and decided it was time to get into it. This Batman/Daredevil (B/DD) is good for several reasons: the art by Scott McDaniel really works for both of these 'shadow heroes' who hunt by night. The Mr. Hyde/Two-Face (MH/TF) team up is really interesting - MH power and TF twisted operational perspective make for a 'deadly duo' that is extremely formidable.
I love the fact that this crossover exists, but it's a weird one. The Marvel/DC stuff isn't explained at all. Instead, New York is just a city that Batman can drive to from Gotham in pursuit of a criminal. Matt Murdock encountered Harvey Dent in law school, so he's the one with emotional ties to the former Gotham DA. Matt, not Bruce, is the one who makes an emotional appeal. Don't get me wrong, DD is absolutely more given to emotions than Bats, but the idea that he'd have closer ties to someone he met once than Bruce has to someone he had a long term working relationship with is ridiculous.
Still, there are a few pages that make this story well worth checking out. In one, they both arrive at a crime scene along different paths. The contrasted heroes are not as alike as people think. In another, the man without fear makes the dark knight blink. Finally, the way they ID each other, and admit to those identities is such a goofy, traditional comic book scene that readers will find it charming.
I recommend this book, but I don't recommend thinking too deeply about it or taking it seriously.
Daredevil/Batman: Eye for an Eye is a one-shot comic book crossover featuring Bruce Wayne as Batman and Matt Murdock as Daredevil. It was written by D.G. Chichester with art by Scott McDaniel, and was published by DC Comics and Marvel Comics.
Daredevil and Batman must work together to defeat Two-Face, who partners with Marvel villain Mr. Hyde. Batman pursues the two villains to New York, where Daredevil is investigating a series of thefts of computer equipment, which leads him to the same criminal pair. Batman and Daredevil initially clash, even coming to blows, before ultimately resolving to work together.
Two-Face and Mr. Hyde has stolen a computer chip which acts as powerfully as a human brain. However, the chip needs to be housed in organic brain tissue. Two-Face’s plan, therefore, is to trick Mr. Hyde into consuming large quantities of a specific drug, which will both speed up the formation of the chip and eventually kill Hyde, allowing Two-Face to harvest the chip from Hyde's brain.
Daredevil/Batman: Eye for an Eye is written and constructed moderately well. Chichester created a wonderful and somewhat believable narrative to bring these two different people from different franchises together to team-up to bring their respective villains to justice. For the most part, the characters seem within character – at least the DC Comics ones as I am more familiar with them. McDaniel's does an admirable job in penciling the tale.
All in all, Daredevil/Batman: Eye for an Eye is a mediocre team-up between Batman and Daredevil to capture their villains Two-Face and Mr. Hyde respectively.
The Man without Fear meets the World’s Greatest Detective!
I haven’t bought this particular comic book per se, but I did buy the “DC vrs Marvel” Omnibus Vol 1, and this story is featured there. I’ll do a review of the omnibus later, but I want to make individual reviews of each crossover stories contained there.

EYE FOR AN EYE
This crossover brings cool opportunities like having Harvey Dent and Matt Murdock, the two most famous lawyers of each comic book universe, meet where in flashback scenes, you see how they were schoolmates in Columbia University, obviously studying Law.
Daredevil and Batman do an uneasy alliance to face the double threat of Two-Face and Mr. Hyde where they are trying to steal a revolutionary technology known as Neural Net.
Even this comic book shows a death quite gruesome, that I was shocked that it’d approved to do it, but clearly showing how merciless is Mr. Hyde, that having nothing to shame over the obvious notoriority of the villain of Two-Face.
Sad to say this was underwhelming. I love both of these characters and putting them together is a no brainer. Unfortunately, the story is nothing to write home about. The writing is a bit weak, and while the idea behind the plot is interesting enough it is not executed well. It feels extremely rushed to the point of being confusing, and this whole thing comes off as an obvious cash grab. Im sure it was just that, but it shouldn't feel that way, and the writers really needed to show more love for these fantastic characters. The art is okay, typical modern comic art. There is another book that teams these two up and I hope it fares better. In the meantime, Im glad i own this just because of my personal interest in both Batman and Daredevil and there are a couple of really cool, if short and ultimately fruitless, moments with these two. I specifically like that it shows how Batman can get around being detected by Daredevils echo-location. Thats about all there is to see here, though.
A Marvel and DC crossover in which the titular heroes have to form an alliance to take down Two-Face and Mr. Hyde.
This book is underwhelming and very much a missed opportunity. Daredevil and Batman are two characters who should compliment each other very well, particular being low-powered and street-level type heroes, but none of that is put to good use here. What we get is a straightforward and, honestly, fairly boring story of the two characters teaming up and then punching Two-Face and Mr. Hyde.
At one point it looks like the writer is going to make an interesting point of both Daredevil and Two-Face being lawyers by trade, but really it comes to nothing.
I should’ve read the reviews before I bought this book on eBay. The art is ugly and hard to follow. The story makes no sense. I got through the whole book and writing this review now, I realize that I can’t even tell you what happened in it other than that Batman, Daredevil, Two-Face, and Mr. Hyde are in it. The more I think about this, the more upset I get because you have two incredible and obviously connectable characters here and on that basis alone, this story should be better. A child given this prompt could have written something better.
Chichester e Mc Daniel all'opera sul crossover tra Batman e Devil, ambientato a New York. Mc Daniel in alcune tavole è davvero ottimo, mentre in altre poco leggibile. Diciamo che siamo sulle 2 stelle e mezza per questo crossover violento.
Not the best crossover, not the best argument for their encounter, too many unnecessary confrontations, an underdeveloped plot. Mostly a wasted opportunnity that at least tries to keep the reader hanged.
Ugh... Don't even bother with this one. The plot was muddled. None of the characters acted like themselves. Batman and Daredevil were better villains than Two-Face and Mr. Hyde.
I think I was expecting a bit more from this crossover.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad at all. Ir does go by the books as to how these usually are written. But here both Batman and Daredevil actually contribute both to solve the issue at hand (an alliance between Two Face and Mr. Hyde).
My biggest complaint is that the book is way too short. The issue gets solved almost on its own, and we get that version of the jerk Batman.
Art wise it’s ok, and it’s an ok crossover overall.
I thought this was a high octane thrill ride with plenty of action & a story that was a lot better than I expected . Two Face is portrait very well as a ruthless killer that will even double cross or kill other villains to get his way. the story touches on Daredevil & Two faces college years back in Law school which I thought added a lot to the story . really good for a crossover I give it a 6.5/10
I enjoyed this way too much for the type of comic it was. Not to be taken seriously, there are some great moments; Batman and Daredevil topping each other with their detective skills, Two-Face being connected to Matt's college years, I really liked the lawyer connection. Really, Two-Face would be a great Daredevil character.
From the very beginning, I think it is the Daredevil who would fit as Batman's Marvel counterpart. I think this is a great one-shot (see I'm using Marvel terms here), judging from the action and the plot development that is both Batman and Daredevil in form. I hope that they try this partnership against The Joker or Bullseye.
The Dark Knight, whom Doom respects mightily, and that sniveling bleeding heart Daredevil team-up reluctantly to take down Two-face and Mr. Hyde. The book sidesteps much of Two-faces use of the coin and then makes it a major point in the end... really? Bah- Doom has just moved this book from 3 to 2 stars.

Having a Batman Daredevil crossover is awesome, but an awful missed opportunity. Nothing goes in this books favor, the art, the dialogue, the plot... It's all pretty terrible and over the top. I thought about giving it 2 stars just because it has Batman and Daredevil in it and I like crossovers in general, but it really doesn't deserve it.
This book incredibly for the first time made me see Batman for what he truly is.A detective first and foremost and i really enjoyed his and Daredevils pursuit of Two-Face and Mr. Hyde.A real pleasure to read.
I never saw this back in 1997, and I came across it at the bookstore, so I couldn't pass it up. I really enjoyed it and would like to see more team ups between these characters.
Nice to see one of these team -ups where they aren't all nicey-nice. Another interesting pair up given real Bats have a lot in common with Daredevils ability to see without sight!
