Few know the tragedy and heartbreak that shaped The Loner. When the once happily married businessman's wife was murdered, Conrad Browning, son of legendary gunfighter Frank Morgan, set off on a new course, complete with a new name: Kid Morgan.
J.A. Johnstone learned to write from the master himself, Uncle William W. Johnstone, who began tutoring J.A. at an early age. After-school hours were often spent retyping manuscripts or researching his massive American Western History library as well as the more modern wars and conflicts. J.A. worked hard and learned, later going on to become the co-author of William W. Johnstone’s many bestselling westerns and thrillers. J.A. Johnstone lives on a ranch in Tennessee and more information is at WilliamJohnstone.net
I binge read the series in one month, 12 books. That makes my 2nd western in one year and I loved it. This one takes place during the Wild Wild West and it was such a great adventure that I loved every minute of it. I recommend this to anyone who likes a fun adventure in the West .
It’s been a few years since I’ve read a Loner book. But this one quickly reminded me why that series is one of my favorites! Smooth writing, fast moving, and loaded with action. It’s entertaining from start to finish, just like every Loner entry has been . Highly recommended.
The author J.A. Johnstone continues to write an exciting and well laid out story with his exciting perfectly timed characters in this series. Time to move on to the next book in the series. Cannot wait.
This is a very interesting and exciting story and is well written and edited as well. The plot is coherent throughput and I totally enjoyed reading the saga.
The Kid is wanted in New Mexico for escaping from Hell’s Gate prison after he was mistaken for the outlaw Ben Bledsoe, and false charges of murdering prison guards. There is a ten thousand dollar reward on his head, and he is wanted dead or alive! Bounty hunters Pronto Pike, and Lace McCall are hot on his heels and after that reward. But Lace catches up to him first. While Lace and the Kid are travelling to Santa Fe, so she can collect and he can straighten things out, they run into some trouble. An old timer named Chester Blount is being ambushed by local ranch owner, Guthrie’s men, who are trying to kill him in order to steal his canyon to extend the ranch. Fighting on the side of right, the Kid talks Lace into joining him and helping the poor old man out. After fighting tooth and nail, and risking their lives, they manage to save Blount and rid the canyon of the ranch owner’s tyranny! But now Conrad Browning must make it to New Mexico and straighten this wanted business out! This book is packed with unexpected surprises, twists and turns in the story, and a final blow that sends Conrad in a tail spin! His revengeful former fiancée, Pamela Tarleton has returned from the grave with the help of her cousin Roger to torture Conrad in her final act of hatred!
Oooh damn! A bit slow to start but the ending more then made up for it. I'm so glad I have the next book to dive into because waiting would be cruel!!! I thoroughly enjoy this author!
This was an excellent read. I would say a lot more but I am afraid I would spoil it for a lot of people! Let me just say I couldn't take my eyes off of it! Enjoyed it! Johnstone rocks!
