Village Thorns has literally been the thorn in my side for centuries. I’m tired of their sacrifices, and after what happened to my brother, I’m even more determined to thwart the higher power that condemned us to this fate.
But when I can’t fight the pull to collect my annual sacrifice, the little redhead might just be my undoing. She’s feisty and won’t let me ignore her no matter how hard I try.
I can’t be swayed from my purpose, though—even if it means I have to burn Village Thorns and my entire kingdom to ashes.

This is the second book from the series "Demon sacrifices duet" This book features Cyrus and Mariah, Cyrus is Bastian's brother and the fire demon ready to take his sacrifice which will change his life. Mariah and Cyrus's life is filled with obstacles and tests they have to pass in order to break the curse. In my opinion, the second book is better than the first, its okayish. The spice is also nice, Not bad but too vanilla and rushed for my taste Its a nice short read!
Of Thorns and Ashes is the second book in the Demon Sacrifices Duet by Kenzie Sky. I was drawn to these books by the intriguing covers and the promising blurbs- and had really high expectations going into the stories. I really wanted to love these books- so much more than I did. They just didn’t really hit the mark for me, and I have to admit that I struggled to finish the duet. But since I always finish a book that I start, because I am always worried that if I DNF, that I might miss something that turns the story around for me… so I persevered with this – but ultimately it was not for me. A paranormal romance with demons and a demon sacrifice and is a novella-length story which made for a quick and easy read. But I just didn’t connect with the characters, so that made it impossible to invest in them, or the outcome of their stories. But this just might be a ‘me’ issue- as I see there are plenty of other readers who absolutely loved this duet. Happy Reading…
(Author: do not read) Somehow, the author didn't let the worldbuilding or plot develop at all in this book?! The first book in this duet lacked in the worldbuilding and plot, ending with a HEA but a 'idk why' and this one did too despite being the second and last book planned?! Further, the only plot of this was the romance (which was mainly smut, especially because this duet was love at firdt sight) and the only reason I continued this series was to find out why they were cursed 😫 Imma be honest, the first book was so lacking that if they weren't each less than 100 pages I may not even have read this second book to have found out why they were cursed.
I normally never dnf... I will force myself to finish a story/series. This short story is 65 pages. I read and enjoyed the first book. Was it cheesy, some small grammatical errors, but overall was okay? Yeah....I'm only 20 something pages in and the shear NUMBER OF INCONSISTENCIES back to back with even more grammatical errors!!??? It felt incredibly juvenile, even compared to the first book. This book needs another edit and then probably I could finish it and enjoy it for what it is.
Second installment of the demon smut but this one was a bit better. I guess this brother know other sex positions other than the missionary, I guess. Good for the virgin sacrifice, which again seems super horny all the time. I finished this duology thinking: I need to think long and hard about how I spend my money buying pretty cover books off Amazon without reading the feedbacks… I only have myself to blame
I wish there were more books to this series. But I love the ending where we got him and his brother and their wives together. But I love the small Nile graveling that you had to do and loved how he would do anything for his wife.
