She was sure he had killed her brother, but she learned that he also helped save the homes and lives of many townspeople. How could she reconcile these two different images of the same man--and how could she accept the overwhelming desire, the thrilling passion, and the reckless abandon he aroused deep within her?

Each book In this collection is outstanding and utterly unique. Jennifer Blake has found a permanent place in my library. She educates, she enthralls, she excites, and she commands my attention by her every word. She has the ability to transport me to whatever place, at whatever time, and introduce me to her unique characters. I go happily. More, more, more!

Detailed, deep, intense and amazing

The author clearly puts her family history of the south in her novels. The books are rich in detail, thoroughly accurate, highly visual, and intense in the best way possible. These are not casual novels with which to wile away the time but instead are novels that draw you in like the penetrating heat of Louisiana summers.

Four!

Four excellent historical romances set in the background of Louisiana. My favorite was the Prisoner of Desire. Romance, via a kidnapping. Different! I loved the first one I read, the one about perfume causing a man to fall in love. Sure! That doesn't work.

Valuable reading in many ways

How about free for a 4-book ebook boxed set? How could I resist? Search Amazon soon to find out how, it was a Bookbub selection recently, but the deal might be expired. I'm on a budget with a need to be frugal. Those with cash who desire a fascinating historical read would be well-advised to try this set.
This is perhaps not classic literature, but these are classic bodice-rippers. The author is the godmother of the romance novel, now 75-years-old.
I am not ashamed to say, I like her style. The author wields her words with rapier precision. It's refreshing to follow a vocabulary written for an educated adult level.
In one day, I read three and a half of the Louisiana History series, finished the 4th today… and learned a lot. Not about “romance” but about French and Spanish culture in New Orleans. Mostly set in the 19th century with great insight into lifestyle, agricultural and political realities of the times. Many of the details are those my grandparents spoke to me about. Fashions and furnishings and food are described with enough care to make a reader swoon. All are fast-paced enjoyable reads. Laissez les bon temps roulez, and don't judge a book by its cover or genre.

First two quite good. Still liked second two okay, but they were borderline with the pressure involved to get the women to bed, even if the men were otherwise decent. Very much liked the history. 3 star

These books had some great characters who were interesting and fun to 'watch.' I felt all the books got mired down in too much historic details - so much so that the stories stalled a but. I love history, but the level of detail took something away from the flow of the action. I enjoyed reading about the various couples and their supporting casts. I especially liked how each book was a tale unto itself.

For Southern Rapture

I read the inscription for the last story, and went right to it. I left a review in the Ask a Question, section. Brilliantly done, and I don't understand how you kept all the parts separate. I got a bit confused with Martin, and all the treacherous activities he had his hand in, (or should I say gun)? Ranny, of course was a dream come true! I won't soon forget him.

Making the South right again.

Just the right amount of history. The right amount of twists and turns to keep you guessing at first, but then after you think you know, changes enough to make you wonder. Then you are into their thoughts and then wondering still.

Great Historicals

I thoroughly enjoyed every one of the books in this collection. They were great romantic reads as well as being historically enlightening. The heroes were what dreams are made of and I fell a little in love with each of them.
