My Thoughts: To pick up book by an author I am not familiar with is an adventure in itself. Once I read it, I search the internet for information about the author, how many books they’ve authored, etc. So in my process of preparing myself for the review, I was amazed at how much Becky Barker has written. GoodReads is a great place to see the many reviews of her enjoyable and entertaining books.
No matter what setting, be it western, historical, mystery, fantasy, when it comes to romance reads, a romance is a romance. Just a different setting.
This book gave me the sense of living on a large ranch in a supportive family, the life of a cowboy and a romance at the same time. There were several hot love scenes that readers may enjoy while sensing how the characters’ emotions and hearts continue to engage. Messages I took from the story: Family and extended family are important; running a ranch or business honorably are important; not jeopardizing your honor is important; and lastly addiction needs supportive family behavior and a strong reason to avoid that weakness.
If you don’t read western romances much, grab one of Becky Barker’s books. She’s a good read, and will give us city dwellers the experience of being on a ranch and in this book with a hot guy -- fantasize and enjoy. I did.

I'm just not feeling the narrator

I do like the story. Chey and Trevor and interest, but incomplete characters. I have a sense that there are missing parts. The narrator gave me no feelings, no emotions, no connection. I just felt like it was being read instead of like a vivid picture rolling across my mind.

These two have a lot of work to do to get to their HEA. Their road is rocky, but as they pass each stone along the way it solidifies the connection they have for each other. We really get to see the struggles one goes through with having an addiction. Even after rehab, it’s a life-long issue that has to be acknowledged and dealt with. Chey learns to swallow her pride and admit that she can’t do it alone. Trace learns that not everyone is the same, and people handle dependency differently. He gives her enough freedom to make her own choices, but lets her know he will be there for her in the end.
If you love a story with a western/ranching background that is full of sexy cowboys and sassy cowgirls, you will love this. It’s a short, sweet, steamy tale that is guaranteed to find a place in your heart.

Cheyenne always had a crush on Trace, the hot, sexy, ranch hand. There was an age gap, but that didnt make any difference to her.
When she came home from college, he saw her in a different light. So sexy and grown up .
Their connection is hot and steamy.

Let me start and say, I am a HUGE Becky Barker fan. I came across her a few years ago and she became a huge obsession. I devoured her back list in a very short time. So when she has a new release it is like Christmas to me. I jumped at the chance to review Chey’s Cowboy and I absolutely loved it.
Chey and Trace have been attracted to each other for a while. She is the object of his passion filled dreams, and he is her deepest desire. He is not about to give in to the need and longing that keeps him awake at night. Chey finally gives up trying to ignore the feelings she has for him and approaches him about becoming more than just friends. Soon after, he is in an accident and has amnesia. He has no memory of the past, but he is very aware of the pretty lady by his bed wanting to take care of him when he wakes up.
Chey has not had a stable childhood. Her parents abandoned her at Bridleton to be raised by her great aunt. She still suffers abandonment issues. She has a hard time trusting and believing people. She is used to pasting on a smile and pretends she isn’t hurting deep inside. Eventually she turns to alcohol to lessen the pain and soon her drinking turns into addiction. She has been through rehab and is still fighting to control her problem.
While Trace can’t remember his past, he makes a play for his future, with Chey. They are attracted to each other and he doesn’t know what was keeping him from claiming what they both want. They are electric together and we are treated to a lot of sexy sweaty sheet action. One thing that I really admired about Chey was her honesty in telling him about what they shared before the accident. She was up front with him and never tried to hide anything from him.
Once his memory comes back, we uncover the reason he was pushing her away was her drinking. He shares a lot of his background and his reasoning and it opens a whole new layer to this book.

Audiobook - Narration, Johnny Peppers - really nice voice - deep and sultry and a good story teller. Good females, good pacing, just a really enjoyable performance.
The story revolves around Chey (Shy) and Trace and their unrequited love. Trace does all he can to avoid Chey during the day because she haunts his dreams at night, but he was not open for a new relationship after the painful loss from his last and he uses their age difference as an excuse as well. Until she kisses him and a super kiss is born along with some lip licking, hand sliding, curve crushing and hard parts being pushed against soft parts...until they are busted by her brother-in-law.
But, ext thing you know, Trace falls from his horse, loses his memory and no longer remembers who he is or all the reasons why he and Chey are a bad idea. Suddenly she seems to be all he wants.
My only problem here was that Chey knew he had his reasons, but she stayed to nurse him back to health and allowed a whole lot of sexy time to go on when she knew it was something he didn't want when he was himself. I almost felt like she was taking advantage of his situation even though he was totally crazy about her and fighting a losing battle.
Now, after his head injury, he's a possessive alpha and all he wants is Chey, and she obliges.
It's a cute story, the narration is terrific and I'd definitely listen to more from both author and narrator!

This was a thoroughly enjoyable book to listen to. It is not my first Becky Barker book, but I am partial to romances and cowboys, so this is the perfect book for me. Trace is an alpha male who is doing his best not to be interested in Chey. Chey is doing her best to be noticed. After a hot encounter, Trace has an accident with his horse and has a severe concussion, and temporary amnesia. Chey takes care of him, and the attraction even with him not knowing Chey is too hard to ignore. As his memory returns, and their passion rises, things move to a whole new plane. Then Chey falls off the wagon. As a young alcoholic, she is trying to prove that she can handle her alcohol. Unfortunately, she cannot. Trace has issue with this and tries to leave the relationship. Will this be the end? I won't tell, but I will say that the story line is well developed and the characters are your best friends. You are pulled right into their lives. And the sex is HOT!
Johnny Peppers as always provides the perfect cowboy narration. He is wonderful!

A modern day cowboy story.
Trace, the male lead, is very attracted to the female lead, Cheyenne, but she is the boss's daughter.
Trace has an accident and it motivates Chey to step in, take care of him, and it allows them to get to know each other.
The time that it takes for Trace to re cooperate reveals to them that they have a common issue, "alcohol".
She is an alcoholic and his father was one.
She thinks that she can drink just one drink and he doesn't want anything to do with drunks.
She acted like she had "something" to prove and it ending up testing her limits.
Can Chey get a handle on her alcohol problem, will Trace stick around for the long hall?
I don't want to give away any spoilers, I recommend reading the book to find out.
I thought that Johnny Peppers did well with the narration. He sounded like a cowboy without sounding like he was trying too hard.

This was a new author for me and a new narrator. I liked this book although I thought it started out pretty slowly. Once I started the listen, it went great through the ending. I was given a free copy of this book for an honest review.
As to the story, in the beginning Trace was trying to ignore his attraction to Chey, but after an accident for Trace and some misunderstandings between the two, Chey was trying to ignore her attraction to Trace. I thought the character of Trace and the other ranch hands were really well done. I was however disappointed in Chey. She came across to me as very young, younger than her years, and very immature (too immature for someone like Trace). I enjoyed the narrator and how he presented the story, and it may be that it was his characterization of Chey's voice that contributed to her age. Usually I read the books first and listen after that, so I had no picture in my mind of Chey before listening.

I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. The narrators voice was male and nice to listen to. Overall I found this book to be a light read. It is the story of Chey and Trace. From the beginning we learn there is a deep attraction between the two. When Trace hits his head and loses his memory, Chey and Trace explore this more. I found Chey to be hard to like. She is young and naive. There were a few times I really didn't like her and thought Chey needed a older women. I was a little confused what exactly happened to the relationship when Trace started regaining his memory. I have not read the earlier books, but liked the strong family bond. I think this is a nice book to listen to. I plan on reading the sequel soon.

Very entertaining and enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. Cowboys, steamy romance and a HEA. Nice easy flowing story.
Even though the story deals with a serious subject of Alcoholism it is still a lighter story. Pride and stubbornness have ruined many a relationship. You can only fight the attraction for so long. Can Trace and Cheyenne overcome personal obstacles and past baggage to find happiness.
Johnny Peppers did a great job with the narration once again. Nice deep voice just how you want your cowboys to sound. Great characters voices. He did a great job conveying the emotions of each character.

This story is well written and has a wonderful cast of characters, the main characters Trace and Chey, worked through a good range of struggles: self doubt, addition, memory lost, sadness and fear, as they navigate their way to finding love and accepting each other without limitations.
Trace and Chey has been denying their attraction for each for one reason or another, that is, until Trace suffered memory lost. Trace's memory lost resulted in a positive change and a chance for him and Chey explore their feelings. Was it smooth sailing to happiness? No, but with the struggles to the their HEA there journey was also intoxicating, quite steamy.

I enjoyed this audiobook and how the story made me want to know about the other characters in the series and their own stories. It was surprisingly great as a stand-alone. I enjoyed the narration and thought he did a great job bringing the characters and story to life. The only thing that might have made this audiobook even better would be to have a female narrator performing the heroins pov.

I really enjoyed the second Bridleton book. This book features Cheyenne and Trace. Cheyenne finally makes the first move and then Trace has an accident and gets amnesia. Cheyenne and Trace have amazing chemistry, but will her drinking be a deal-breaker? I really enjoyed getting to know more about Cheyenne and Trace and how their pasts have influenced them. Could have been better
Story was there, but was overpowered by the sexual interludes. The story could have used more story and less sexual tension. I was really looking forward to this book, but was somewhat disappointed.

This book did an about face 3/4 of the way through it. First Cheyenne was the aggressor then Trace became the aggressor. And since some of his reticence stemmed from the fact that Chey was battling alcoholism it didn't make a lot of sense to me.
