Meet one scarecrow who's scared of everything in this uplifting picture book about fear and friendship that also includes a punch-out Scaredycrow paper doll!
Scaredycrow is a scarecrow with a big problem. He's scared of EVERYTHING! He's scared of the crows that fly by in the day. He's scared of the bats that swoop down in the night. He's scared of the barnyard animals, too. And the feeling is mutual! The crows, the bats, and other barnyard friends are all terribly afraid of the lonely, little scarecrow out in the field.
But one day, when a little mouse named Tiny decides to bring everyone together, everyone learns that there is nothing scary about making new friends.

We read this for our scarecrow story time. Scaredycrow does a very good job frightening everything on the farm...but only because he's terrified himself! He waves his arms and shouts and nothing wants to come near him, until a brave mouse arrives on the farm and introduces himself. This is a cute story about how actions can be misunderstood and how to correct them.
3.5 stars - The story accompanying the bright and engaging illustrations is good for three and four year olds. It opens the door to talk about loneliness, and fear. When I asked the four year olds in my granddaughter’s group what they were afraid of, most of them were silent with searching eyes. a few ventured to speak. Darkness in the middle of night, and, seeing monsters in the dark was the fear cited by three youngsters. As for loneliness, again, the children became introspective, and when we talked about the joy of overcoming fear and loneliness to meet new friends, everyone contemplated this - still in a serious manner; many looked around at the other children in the group for their friends and affirmation. Adorable book.
Scaredycrow is about a scarecrow who is suppose to scare off the crows and other animals so they don't get the corn. The thing is, is he his is afraid of everything. So any time another animal gets near him he yells and hollers and waves his arms in fear but he always ends up scaring off those animals, but he doesn't know it.
Scaredycrow was very cute and is beautifully illustrated with a lot of lovely bright colors. It also comes with a punch-out scaredycrow so you can make your own little scarecrow! How cool is that! It's only 24 pages and makes a great Halloween book for the little ones!
