She's fed up with being fed on.

All Miranda Thibodeaux really wants to do is survive corporate hell and be left alone. But as the daughter of the Incubi king, being left alone isn't on her schedule. And as an avatar to a goddess with multiple personality issues, taking things in stride isn't either.

Daniel looks like an ordinary surfer boy--T. T. B.--Tall, Tanned, and Blond. Hot he may be, but ordinary he's not. Beneath the pretty packaging lies a ruthless warrior, a servant to the Vampire Council. His mission is to find Miranda and present her to the council, then get the hell out of Dodge before he loses his focus. The last thing he needs is the distraction of the testy female.

When circumstances force Miranda to turn to T.T.B. for help, they both end up with more than they bargained for. And that normal human life she wanted? Not really doable when everyone wants a piece of her...

For her entire adult life, Miranda Thibodeaux has denied and suppressed her incubus side. After a traumatizing incident when she was a teen, she did her best to ignore her nature. When vamps seek her out for nourishment and sex, she refuses to take any energy from them in exchange, no matter how much her incubus side wants her to. One day, a vamp appears outside her home (she quickly nicknames him T.T.B. for Tall, Tanned, and Blond) and Miranda assumes he’s just another vamp looking for a good meal and a good lay. But Daniel (T.T.B.’s real name) seems to have plans to stick around, despite Miranda’s attempts to get rid of him. Daniel’s charming, sweet, and Miranda doesn’t feel like an all-you-can-eat buffet when he’s around.

However, Daniel isn’t the only new vampire in Miranda’s life. Adrian is a powerful and intimidating vamp who insists that he is Miranda’s mate and king. The last thing Miri wants is to be Adrian’s mate, but the vamp is persistent, and Miri doesn’t know how far he’s willing to go to get what he wants. And then there’s the problem of her father, the Incubi King. He hasn’t been answering Miri’s calls, and she’s worried something is seriously wrong. If Miri is to face all the challenges thrown her way and remain free, she’ll have to learn how to control her inner incubus…so that she can unleash it.

Hunger Embraced is a fun and sexy story of a sassy, yet vulnerable, incubus. Miranda was a strong heroine and even though she doesn’t trust easily, she’ll fight like hell for the people she cares about. She had a great sense of humor and her inner diologue was always entertaining. I felt for her because she never had a real relationship with anyone; she had quick hook-ups with people who saw her as a source of food and sex. Reading about her character development and seeing her grow as a person/incubus was satisfying. I’m glad Daniel came along, because Miri deserved some happiness!

And speaking of Daniel, he was easily my favorite character in the book. He’s hot (don’t forget, tall, tanned, and blond! And Miri describes his voice as ear sex!) and has a really romantic side. He says some of the sweetest things. Seriously, his lines were almost poetic at times. And his OCD tendencies made me laugh. At the same time, though, he’s also very alpha-male and dominant. I just wish we’d gotten to learn a little more about his job as a warrior for the Vampire Council.

Jennifer James created a very detailed world in Hunger Embraced- there are Empaths, Blood Suckers, Flesh Eaters, psychics, a Vampire Council, etc. And the sex scenes were very steamy. Just a heads up- there’s a menage scene in the book, and it’s definitely sexy.

Memorable Quotes:

Fated couples. It was the stuff of fairy tales. A vampire’s version of Snow White and Cinderella. Of course my Prince Charming would be an arrogant asshole with sadomasochistic tendencies.

&

“I would give up and destroy anything, everything for you. I would forsake every vow, tear apart the bricks of the temples of every god known to existence.”

If you’re looking for an erotic paranormal romance book, you should give Hunger Embraced a try! It’s got mystery, steamy sex scenes, a drool-worthy hero, and it’s sure to make you laugh.

Smitten Blog Review

My Thoughts

Hunger Embraced is seriously HOT! From Chapter 1 through to the end. Since the heroine is an incubus, it’s to be expected. Wall sex, shower sex, dressers, beds and floors…well you get the idea. When an incubus is involved, expect things to happen anywhere, anytime.

And all of it is fantastic and titillating, but really, what I liked most about this novel is the unexpected entertainment value I got from it. The detailed worldbuilding, the storyline and the heroine surprised me.

There’s a whole world built around a society of covens, a Vampire Council and Guardians who worked for the Council. We get a glimpse into the politics surrounding each. There are elements of fantasy and mythology as well. It’s obvious that the author took her time to build this world and ensure the setting, culture, characters and other details blended nicely.

Then a great storyline emerges telling us how vampires can no longer be born and haven’t for 100 years, and how the heroine will play a significant role in bringing about a change. Throw in a badass villain to muddy things up, a hot as hell hero (or two) and I was a happy happy reader.

There are plenty of action scenes (not just sex) but actual fighting where our heroine shines and kicks some serious ass. I really liked the heroine, Miranda, and found her to have many dimensions to her character. She actually had a human upbringing and we see how she struggled to accept what she was and what she now has to do to survive. Despite it all, she amazingly holds onto her individuality and independence. As bothered as she is by some things she has to do, she accepts her fate and learns how to deal with it best she can.

There are lots of great characters, both human and supernatural. I would like to have seen a little more development of the hero Daniel. But this is the first in a series, so I imagine my curiosity will be fulfilled in upcoming novels. I found the villain to be particularly compelling. Despicable but still very convincing.

So bottom line is if you are looking for a very erotic supernatural tale with a good storyline, strong worldbuilding with elements of fantasy and mythology, Hunger Embraced will do it for you. I really enjoyed my reading experience and happily recommend it!

Happy Reading!!

This might be one of the most unique Urban Fantasy stories I’ve read. It focuses primarily on vampires, but four specifically different types. There’s a Goddess, a council, were-creatures, and of course our vampires in various shapes and sizes. The way the book is written makes it all very mysterious and we learn little by little both through exposition and through the heroine learning things herself.

It’s because of that writing that you get so connected to Miranda. She’s had a rough deal, and while she might not have handled it the best, you can’t much blame her. Then to be thrown into a whirlpool of “WTF?” – yeah I’d be a little freaked too. There are some pretty dark passages in this book, both literally and figuratively, that can be pretty heartbreaking, but at least she’s got Daniel to help guide her through, as well as Gregory who is just an added perk. It’s Miranda’s snark helps lighten things and the connection between her and both men is fun, sexy, and endearing.

As neat as the story itself was, with Miranda discovering so much about herself and the world she was born into, the book had a few hiccups. For one, as hot as the sex scenes were, they often had some awkward circumstances (and I don’t mean realistic awkward like “OMG did I just fart?”, but questionable consent or an unwanted audience kind of awkward) and that made a few of the scenes a little difficult for me. My only other complaint is that the author drops a couple nerd candy nibblets here and there which I love, but they’re inaccurate which kind of defeats the purpose.

Other than that, I enjoyed it. I love the mythology angle and I appreciate that it wasn’t largely predictable. I was on the crazy train every bit as much as Miranda. I was expecting more from the climax of the story, but it was still very good with lots of action and a strong impact. I’m just mad about the cliffhanger ending! I can’t wait for book 2 with more of Miri, Daniel, and Gregory, and to meet Miri’s friend Anna again plus more I’m sure!

Hunger Embraced is an enthralling UF story with compelling characters that will keep you engaged until the very last word. Villains you’ll love to hate, vampires galore, and a world of paranormal that will keep you guessing, it’s a story you won’t soon forget. The author is known for her witty writing, and this book doesn’t disappoint. She’s woven an awesome tale that will leave you clamoring for more.

Sex from start to finish and WOW! This is definitely an original erotic paranormal read that is the furthest from predictable at any point of the story. A 3.5 rating rounded to a 4 for me. It was a fun read with an original and sexy story that many readers of the genre looking for something different, don’t mind blood and gore (which I actually like), lots of hot sex (VERY hot), excitement and suspense will enjoy.

Miranda seems to have no choices in her life any longer. Just when she thought it was all smooth sailing a storm had to go and brew a whopper (figuratively speaking). And it all started once Daniel (AKA T.T.B.) walked into her life. She’s now finding out the other side of herself, a side she did not realize she was missing and facing dangers that we would shirk away from in a blink!

Daniel is still a bit of a mystery to me, as I’m sure he will be to you as well. He’s not one that likes to reveal much about himself, but is not ashamed to express his feelings. He’s hot, sexy, loving, strong, committed and brave. I definitely would not mind meeting him, anywhere ;)

I felt as if I was left hanging a bit (forgive me if this is part of a series) there are a few questions that still linger in my mind, especially about Miranda’s best friend. I enjoyed all of the characters and their personalities. The antics and chemistry between Miranda and Daniel was a blast. I plan on looking into more from Jennifer James in the near future; her writing is very fun :)

This is an intense read with lots of sex and surprises. Miranda has tried to ignore her needs for fear of hurting others. She is half incubi vampire and half human. She left her family when she couldn't agree to their requirements and it lead to an awful result. Her sexual needs are sparked by vampires and she submits to them and feeds them but gets no nourishment from the encounters. They drain her and make her weaker than ever.

When she sees a tall, good-looking vampire watching her, she knows what he wants. Daniel is not the usual vampire. She feels such a pull to him and he doesn't just want sex. He wants to cook her food and take care of her. She doesn't know how to handle kindness.

As she spends time with Daniel, she learns about vampires and her abilities become clearer. She was raised by a human nanny and only spent one day a year with any access to her father so she knows very little. She is in great danger as many others want to claim access to her as well. Daniel is not telling her everything and that could lead to serious problems.

Their scenes together are very hot. It is her nature to be attractive to males and to respond to their attraction so every encounter can lead to more than she may truly wants. It ends on a real cliff-hanger that will make you eager for the next part of the story.

I received a copy in return for a honest review.

Well, I'm sure it comes as no surprise that this book was HOT. So. Much. Smex. (and if you didn't expect it picking up an erotic PNR w/ an incubi as the FMC...well, you should get a reality check...)

But underneath all the smex (which was well written, steamy and all that, but as always made me blush and squirm as Jennifer James is quite adept at doing)...was a very good story.

I love Miri, her Hunger, Daniel and Gregory. Ah, Gregory...Gregory...~sigh~

What? Hm? Oh, right...review.

Over all, loved it. Will now go harass this woman to finish book 2 because I needs it (and more Gregory now...please, Jennifer?)

Miranda just thought random vamps were after her for sex, and it's gotten to the point of interfering with work. What's a girl to do? She meets another powerful vamp she likes to call T.T.B. and it turns out that Miranda is a Vampire/Incubus who hasn't completed her change to full Vampire and she's got some serious powers, is what T.T.B. tells her. And that's just the beginning... This is an awesome story with lots of sex due to her Incubus powers that are literally dying to be unleashed. I loved that she chose her own destiny, and T.T.B. ( and apparently Gregory too). I loved the Goddess parts of the story. And I think this book deserves a second, maybe a third. :)

A great twist on the succubus/vampire legends. The succubi take their energy from vampires, who need to have sex with them to feed. Except Miranda is bored with the whole set up. That is until she meets TTB--Tall, Tanned and Blond--Daniel. They band together to learn what has happened to her father that she walked away from years ago, as well as the strange being stalking her in her dreams. Their banter is hilarious, their sex is hot, and their actions always lead to more trouble. Daniel must decide between his oath to his brotherhood or helping this little spitfire he is falling in love with. It is a fun read and I can't wait to read what they will do next in the sequel.

I absofreakinglutely love any and all things written by this author. Having this one in paperback is awesome, sometimes you just have to have the book in your hand. Anyhow, the world built in this book is intense and unique and so intriguing to get all entwined in. All walks of life vamps good and bad, some out to get the h and do unsavory things to and one hot vamp who would love to do very naughty things to her but has split loyalties. The characters in this book are great, I just adored Miranda, Daniel and Gregory; even the bad guys were interesting to read about. Definitely need to find out where all that is going so I can not wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.

I really wanted to like this, but I seriously struggled to finish and read the book. I just didn't feel the connection with Daniel, yeah he's TTB but I mean what is more? he's OCD and loves candy just as much as Miri? I just also felt some things were not explained very well at all. A lot of the times I was confused, in all aspects. Weather to feel hot and bothered by the sex or disturbed. It was just meh for me. And I had such high hopes?! But the book did end in a pretty large cliff hanger I just hope that maybe by the next book some of the gaps will be filled in for me?

Miranda is an incubus/vampire/human hybrid. She grew up more as a human, not understanding her specialness. When TTB (Daniel) comes into the picture, the part of Miranda that she had pushed aside knows that he is the one. When others try and claim her, she must allow her other side come and become one with her human self. When the godness claims her as her own, Miranda must due as she commands or face punishment.

wow the book kept me enticed from start to finish even some of the scenes that made me want to shudder, i couldn't stop reading. It was a intriging world to learn about and i look forward to the next book and learning more. I enjoyed how most things we learned were when Miranda did.

Most of the sex scenes were scorching and the fight scenes intense, the bad guys make me want to kill them and was a great book.

Well, now. There was a good storyline to this and the writing exceeded by expectations. There's ... a LOT... of smexy time. And some kinky f**kery smexy time too(but then, if you've read THAT, then THIS won't phase you).

My criticism would be that maybe it felt like there was too much going on, with the goddess and the daddy and the king. The action bits were probably my least favourite. I'm a sucker for a man spouting Italian though...

Good intro into the series. Nice build up into the next book. I like Miri. I haven't read to many incubus books and this one was not only very HOT but a fun read. I liked the different take on vampires as well. Did I mention this book was pretty HOT. I can't wait to read the next one!
