I crashed the Immortal party and it ended with a surprise encore… a big one.
I thought being a Demon sucked, but being a Demon Goddess is a whole ’nother level. Life had been so much easier when I was just a forty-year-old has-been actress trying to make a comeback in the land of Botox and BS.
For the love of everything absurd, I was just getting used to being a Demon… and BAM… all of a sudden I’m supposed to be one of the two gals in charge? I mean, being the co-star of the show is great until it involves ruling the Darkness with the evil whack job who destroyed my mother.
Pandora is a guiding blight in my world, and I plan to cancel her at all costs. With my Demon love by my side and a gaggle os Immortal nutbags along for the ride, I’ll find the vicious Goddess and put her back in her box.
Ah well, fate is set. Destiny is my performance to command. I plan it improv the heck out of it. Go big or go home is my new modus operandi. Although, right now, home sounds seriously appealing. Either way, I’m strapping in and getting ready for the wildest gig yet.
Robyn writes because the people inside her head won’t leave her alone until she gives them life on paper. Her addictions include shoes (the expensive kind), Coke with extra ice in a styrofoam cup, and bejeweled reading glasses. A former professional actress, she now lives in the south with her family and too many animals to count. Writing gives her a chance to have a job where working in her P.J.’s is acceptable. I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series.
Media Type: Audiobook Source: Hoopla via HC Public Library Dates Read: 8/30/24 - 9/2/24 Rating: 3 Stars Narrator(s): Jessica Almasy
The Characters:
Ceciley Bloom: Abaddon: Pandora, Candy Vargo, Lilith (mom), Manmom (dad), Brother might be named Sean, Other side kicks
The Story: I am feeling a bit slumpy so it could just be me, but this one was not as engaging as previous installments. I was kind of over the tv show thing and the whole war between the two goddesses. I’m sure it's me and not the book because Ms. Peterman has been nothing but good times for the 9 or 10 books I’ve read previously.
The campy humor is in full forth and the Lilith transfer of powers occurs. These are books you either love or hate 😬 if crass humor isn’t your thing, you’re not going to like this style of writing. If you don’t mind it, these are enjoyable reads.
I’m starting to be overwhelmed with the number of (unnecessary)(to me) personalities that Ms. Peterman likes to incorporate into her stories. I wonder if she’s aware that there really was an actress named Stella Stevens. The machine gun boobies are a bit much. I still like Cecily’s agent the best. Abaddon seems to be getting the same treatment that Gideon does in her other series, which is to say is stripped of personality and relegated to the background. Is anyone else tired of Candy Vargo and her toothpicks?
I’m not enthused by all the motivational sayings that Cecily and her family spout. That and several spells (or whatever they’re called) are repeated verbatim on more than one occasion. Please, they’re dull enough the first time. The so-called demon soap opera was beyond the pale.
I haven’t studied mythology in decades but I’m pretty sure Pandora opened the box; she wasn’t enclosed in it.
Not a horrible book but the plot doesn’t seem to advance much. Not every story requires a series.
All hail B*tch goddess Cecily! Cecily has inherited her mom Lilith’s throne. She’s pretty sure she is not prepared to take the reins but is willing to give it a try. She’s back at home with her reunited mom and dad and has worked things out with Abaddon, the love of her life. The only major fly in the ointment is Pandora, who is still on the run. Cecily, her friends, family, and new demon subjects come up with a hysterical plan to flush Pandora out of hiding. Of course, nothing in Cecily’s life is easy and the solution to one problem brings out another. This series continues to be one of my favorites. The humor and snarky banter between the characters is so much fun. I highly recommend this book and series.
I listened to the audiobook. The narrator does a great job bringing the action to life.
It is laugh out loud funny while taking on the seriousness that has become Cecily's new life.
I absolutely love all of the crazy characters in this book. I love that no one is all good or all bad it makes getting invested in the characters so much more interesting.
The book is packed with action and adventure while having moments of levity to balance everything out.
I have to say I didn't see the ending coming in this one, which is huge for me. I Love It!!!
Highly recommend this series!!! Would definitely suggest reading them in order, you'll love the story even more.
I am still very much enjoying this series, but this entry, the 4th in Robyn Peterman's "Good to the Last Demon" series was a bit less entertaining than the first three. There was a pretty decent amount of repetition of details already shared in earlier books, including repeating entire stories almost verbatim. The romance aspect seems to be working out finally, though I am still not sure exactly when Cecily and Abaddon actually had a moment to fall in love with each other. Some of the side characters are close to being too over the top. Yet this is still a fun read, and I liked the cliff hanger ending.
First I love all of the Titles in this series as a nod to soap operas, as I have loved my soaps since I was four years old. This book was so hilarious but there were some gross scenes that were apart of what made this book so laughing out loud funny. I recommend you read the series in order so you get a full picture of the hysterically funny characters and how they have all come together as a team. The ending I did not see coming which was brilliant!
This "episode" leaned heavily into its TV/acting motif, but not for its good, in my opinion. This is an already short work, and it repeats complete sections as flashbacks. I realize this might happen in a real show that the book was mocking. While I respect the choice and being willing to try a new thing, I don't think it was a good use of my time as a listener. (It was a clip show in book form.) Give me some new content. I didn't forget what happened mere chapters ago.
This is the fourth book in the 𝘎𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘋𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘯 series, and must be read in order.
This is such a great series, and this book is no exception. Just like the first three, this one had me giggling throughout its entirety. I love seeing how far both Ceciley and Abaddon have from the first book. I did not see that ending come 🤯 I can’t want to read the next book.
Cecily is determined that Pandora must go back into her box for killing her mother and other travesties. As the new Goddess of Darkness, she will have to convince the realm to accept her – which she does in a way only Cecily can get away with! Originally, Lillith and Pandora ruled together until Pandora got greedy. They will need all their wits to get Pandora back in her box. Love, love, love the twist at the end!
I love this book and I love Ms. Peterman's excellent sense of humor!! I have never laughed so much. Her stories flow easily and keep you entertained. I never felt like there was a lull in the story or a lot of unnecessary filler. She is a very gifted and creative author. You won't be sorry to buy this book.
Robyn Peterman is crazy! Probably one of the many reasons I love reading her books! I never re-read books! Apparently, that's changing! If you love hilarious, ridiculous, shoot your drink from your nose cuz you can't stop laughing books, go get Ms. Petermans' books! You won't be sorry!
As usual, Robyn's books are a treat. The storyline is wonderful. The characters are out of this world while reminding you of people you know, and there are many laugh out loud moments! I don't know how she keeps finding the stories, but enjoy and read the f@#k out of it! I highly recommend this and all her series.
Great plot twist! And the show must go on! What a phenomenal cast of characters. Should be interesting to see how Cecile and Abadons relationship takes off. The quotes are great that they can recite to each other and Candy Vargo, what can you say and well Uncle Joe but they’re both great for some laughs. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. Robyn does an amazing job!
WoW, our girl really has her work cut out for her. With her friends, love of her life and sworn posse by her side, what's left to do. The failsafe is off and the script is written and the performance is stellar. The usual gang performs in classic style ad-libbing where needed.
This book was hilarious!! I loved it! I love all the different quotes that are interspersed throughout the book. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book but it definitely made my day. I was laughing so hard I couldn’t breathe. My family thought I was nuts. If you need a good laugh I recommend this but especially the series.
I was hoping that this series would get better the farther in I got with books, but apparently not. Unfortunately, there is no half ratings or I would have just given this book a 2- 1//2 stars, but instead I gave it a three stars because it was better than a two star but not better than a three. Just the way that the characters talked in this book. I feel like I’m in the middle of a whole bunch of middle school kids. There is so much potty talk in this book. It is ridiculous and nothing seems to get done. I will not read the next book in the series.
As with all the other books in this series, Cecily kicks butt, takes names (and gives some nicknames out), and embraces the crazy that her life has become. This has lots of action, insanity, quotes, and touching moments. I can’t wait until book five!
Robyn Peterman did it again! Building Blight is a page turner for sure Cecily, Abaddon and the gang will have you laughing . I can’t wait to find out what happens next. If you looking for a fun book this one fit the bill.
I loved this book, read it in one sitting! Clever, wicked funny and non stop action. The characters have depth and keep you laughing. Some scary and touching parts. I do not want to live in that town! Highly recommended
I just finished the 4th book of the series.I was not disappointed the characters were great When I was reading the 1st book 000 this isn't my kind of story as you can see I got hooked
Guiding Blight:A Paranormal Women's Fiction Novel: Good to the last Demon book 4
This is not a cozy, foul language and visuals. The story of demons ,higher power and tricks of truth in a life that is inherited even though you don't know it till you are older.
This series is packed with action, humor, quirky characters and a bit of romance. It's so much fun to revisit this world and the characters that inhabit it. I'm really looking n forward to the next book!
I love these crazy characters! They evolve in the chaos of their lives and its beautiful! This was a book with the perfect blend of wit and family. Looking forward to the next adventure!
