Learning that her estranged daughter has disappeared, recovering alcoholic Wanda Hunter sets out in search of Kendall in the hope of repairing their relationship; while sheriff's detective Bruce Yeats, struggling with a separation and an angry teenage son, works to identify a murdered woman's body. Original.
Wanda Hunter, a sober alcoholic, decides to visit her estranged daughter, Kendall. Kendall left home when she was 16 and is now in her early 20s. When she goes to Kendall's address, she finds that Kendall no longer lives there and has disappeared. In the meantime, the story also follows Bruce, a sheriff who is investigating a murder of a young woman as well as trying to identify a comatose girl who was left for dead. I liked the story line as well as the characters. It seemed true to life, and it kept my interest. The biggest point the story made for me was the importance of our choices.
Wanda hasn't seen her daugther in years and has finally gotten her life on track after being an alcoholic. Wanda is in for a big surprise when she goes searching for her daughter. Meanwhile, Bruce is a sheriff in a small town and is trying to solve two cases while trying to keep his family together. Wanda's and Bruce's paths cross and create a shocking twist to this novel. Linda Dorrell has done an excellent job with this suspense novel.
You know when you're reading a book and you hope for the best possible outcome? Well, this is not one of those books... I found myself saddened by the ending and you don't really know what happens to Jane Doe and if she ever finds her family..... The book was so much of how Wanda felt looking for her daughter, but once she finds out her daughter is murdered it doesn't really tell how she felt then. A little disappointed.
