After graduating high school, Penny's life has fallen into a pretty simple work part time at her cousin's auto repair shop, build up her self-taught computer hacking skills, and most importantly, sleep with every decent looking man who passes through her small town.
Then Penny's cousin Ellie suddenly returns after having gone missing for over a year, and Penny's simple routine is upset. A couple of months later, two very large, very handsome, very strange men show up looking for Ellie, with one of them claiming to be her husband, and Penny's life changes abruptly. She finds herself irresistibly drawn to the companion of Ellie's husband, and his obvious distaste at her promiscuous ways only increases her need to have him.
In the midst of her attempts at seducing him, however, rapidly unfolding events demonstrate that Ellie's new friends are not just strange, they are aliens, and they are being hunted by an old and powerful enemy. Before she fully understands what is happening, Penny finds herself aboard their small spacecraft, fleeing across the galaxy. Somehow, all of this does not dampen her desire for Thorton or his growing need for her. When a poorly-planned escapade on her part forces Thorton's hand, though, she discovers that Thorton's earlier warnings were true, and instead of a hot one night stand she now has a mate for life. A completely dominant mate for life who is fully prepared to take her in hand.
Penny soon learns that while Thorton would give his life for her without hesitation, he will not put up for a second with her bratty behavior or her defiant attitude, and that when she misbehaves badly enough, a long, hard, bare-bottom spanking might only be the beginning of her troubles. She also finds that sex with Thorton will not be on her terms, and that nothing she experienced back on earth could prepare her for the heights of pleasure - and the utter red-faced embarrassment - that come with Thorton taking her in ways she could never have imagined.
Publisher's Learning to Blush is an erotic novel that includes both consensual and non-consensual spankings, anal play, graphic sexual scenes, exhibitionism, elements of medical play and BDSM, and more. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.
Korey Mae Johnson co-owns the publisher Stormy Night Publications (www.stormynightpublications.com) with her husband, James, and has been publishing eBooks since 2008 but has been writing stories and dreaming up characters since she could hold a pen. She loves coffee, audiobooks, kaiju movies, and chilling with her husband on Friday nights. She currently resides in the DFW area.
I like her dialogue writing skills. She makes me laugh. :) It's pretty much like the last book with a slightly different storyline. Some bad-ass fighting, rescuing, war and love.
I enjoyed this sequel, especially the feisty Joans clan. It was also nice to have Graham and Ellie's relationship (Started in Never Submit, Book 01) carried through in this book.
Now Thorton, the Main character in this book, well he is the man! ;)
My only meh, with the book was the treatment Ellie gets after her last escapade with her brothers and cousins. One, it is not my thing. And two, why?
Otherwise, for me, it was a sweet sci fi ride with some laugh out loud moments.
It's no surprise that Korey Mae Johnson delivers again with this sequel to Never Submit. I love her feisty characters & other worldly plot lines! In this book there is great adventure, hot alien sex, & lots of well deserved spankings. A great continuation of the series. I hope there are many more to come in this series!
An excellent story, with every ingredients i like: Great actions, well developed characters - even the background ones- funny lines and sexy scenes.
I don’t know why there is not much more books from this author. I would have like to read the story of the twins, Tim and Tom, and to know more about their cousin Mike.
I read this a while ago and it took me a minute to decide exactly what was wrong about the story. Way too much Ellie we see way too much of her POV and story I only wanted penny and Thornton. It was very boring most of it was about the alien stuff and very little about the relationship. Out of all her books I have read so far this has been my only 1 star read
In the follow up to, "Never Submit," Ms. Johnson delivers another action packed romance with that extra hint of spice some of us love.
Ok, I normally don't review books like these because what are you really going to say here? So I'll skip the synopsis and move on to why I chose to write something. I have read three books now by Ms. Johnson and many books in this genre and let me just say, she provides the most bang for your buck when looking for a good book in this category. Her books are hot, exciting and extremely romantic. Plus, her writing style flows efficiently and her books are funny.
"Learning to Blush", is no exception to that fact. The second book in the Swarii Brides series focuses on Penny and Thorton. I'll be honest here, I wasn't as impressed with these two characters but that's only because I love me some Ellie and Graham, who I am happy to say are very involved in this story as well. Ellie provides comedic relief throughout and Graham, well, I won't lie, I was swooning when after reuniting with Ellie, she was relaying her worries about him coming to find her and he told her how he would always come for her.
I'll be honest, the whole alien thing, normally not my thing book wise, but the good thing about Ms. Johnson's books, she's so strong characterization wise, it could be any backdrop and you'd still like the book. Her characters really just steal the show and essentially anything could be going on around them and it really wouldn't matter. Don't let that worry you though, everything "going on around" is A: extremely hot, (we're talking about 7-feet tall gorgeous alpha male types here), B: funny, or C: exciting. So yes, all in all, there's a lot of sex, a lot of action, a lot of romance, a lot of story.
4 stars for this one and I definitely will read the next. If you take nothing else from this review, take this, don't pass over Ms. Johnson's books if you like this genre, you will seriously be doing yourself a disservice.
I found this book very entertaining to read and quite hot too. Those aliens sounded like a treat to behold with their six-packs and extra digits too. Well worth a read and they do so like to spank a lot
