I didn't go through every page, word by word, however, this one thing very inspiring.
- Trade Greeks, not letters.
This is the differences between option trading and stock trading.
Theta measures the time, High delta means highly related to stock price change, Gamma is the slope of delta, Vega is how much the price will change if the IV changes 1%.
I am buying stocks and just want to find some aspiration from the perspective of options. I really don’t know most of the terms he used, because this is the first book I read on options. But still I got inspirations from some vests and texts in the book.
I enjoyed reading this book. The author explained the strategies well and the examples are easy to follow. All in all, it’s a good entry level book on options.
It is as though the author assumes readers of this book are not versed in basic option dynamics and also not keen to better themselves in this area. Much of it is written with low conviction, halfhearted advise on strategies, glossing over essential basics, peppered with pompous analogies along the way.
As ironically pointed out by the author himself, readers will be well advised to simply read Jeff Augen to cut short the chase, after getting acquainted with basic derivatives math in any college level 101 text. This book accomplishes nothing concrete.
Insightful trading analysis and trader's psychology from a professional ...
The offer has been a successful options trader and money manager for clients. In this book he goes into detail of how to find, create, and manage trades thinking like an options trader and not a stock trader. Along the way, he also provides some insight into the thought patterns and processes of a full-time options trader.
This book, his second, is like having a trading mentor by your side and a colleague willing to share their thoughts over a beer. It is the perfect combination of what you need to have if you intend to be a successful trader. Some of his advice is unconventional (such as not "paper trading") but much of it is A more detailed and recent version of advice you're find elsewhere.
For me, this is by far the best single volume summary of the option traders mindset and psychology. Highly recommended.
