This was the largest college book assigned to me I have ever read! I'll be honest when I purchased the book I had a huge fear, but I'm glad I stuck with it and the class.

Now, I did not read ALL of the book because for me that was frankly impossible and with my mental health; however, I did reach a large chunck of it and while some content I pwrsonally found boring (just my opinion); there were many topics I really enjoyed. I think there is many important things a person can take from this book even if they do not plan to work in the fire service.

The book was pretty easy to understand, even for someone like me who has trouble with basic science. I was glad I was able to understand most of the science stuff I needed to learn for fire chemistry.

Overall, a very informative and eye opening book that showcases all the many aspects of a firefighter's job.

And ofc, this is still no subsitute for hands on training and experience!

This honestly isn't bad at all. It is generally well organized and effectively written. Certainly it could use more editing (to add, remove, and clarify content - not just bc it's ~1.5k pages)

It's very informative and isn't so dry as to put you asleep (as many textbooks can be). My biggest complaints are honestly not within the authors' control, as they have to include all the NFPA standards and numbers - but it disrupts the absorption of the actual relevant and necessary information that will jeep you safe in the field.

Ultimately it is a good and informative text, that is pretty well written and effective in its delivery.

Lord, if only I knew this before I burnt my family’s farmhouse down! Spoiler🚨don’t throw water on a greasy stove. Have to wake up the whole family at midnight because I wanted to make a grilled cheese. They were running out that house like mice, not not the well fed ones… more like the scrawny ones that would cut a b for some bread crumbs….if I had to put things in perspective I’d say that was #4 on my top worse family vacations.
