One of the most powerful rituals in ancient Hebrew culture was that of the blood covenant. This agreement united two individuals for a lifetime and meant that the most intense forms of friendship, loyalty, and sacrifice had been exchanged. God chose to make this kind of covenant with Abraham in order to demonstrate His intense love for humanity and His deep desire to fellowship with His creation. By asking Abraham to perform the covenant ritual, God the Father and humanity were bonded for eternity. In The Covenant, well-known author Jim Garlow explains, with passion and possibility, the importance and meaning of the Covenant ritual and shows how this ceremony provides the foundation for everything we, as Christians, believe. The powerful revelations he presents will impact and transform your life and forever change your knowledge and appreciation of the Christian faith. This powerful Bible study will dramatically enrich your understanding of God's nature and love for His people and reveal a whole new appreciation for God's amazing story and the beautiful, incredible, breathtaking sacrifice that Christ made so God's covenant with us would not be broken.
Jim Garlow is an American evangelical leader, author, and former Senior Pastor of Skyline Church in La Mesa, California. Known for his outspoken political activism and theological conservatism, Garlow has played a prominent role in efforts to influence public policy from the pulpit, particularly through his leadership in the "pulpit freedom" movement. He was instrumental in mobilizing religious support for California’s Proposition 8 and later served as chairman of Renewing American Leadership, a nonprofit founded by Newt Gingrich. A frequent commentator on social and political issues, Garlow advocates for a return to what he calls “authentically biblical” Christianity and has urged evangelicals to abandon the term “evangelical” altogether. He has controversially equated political disengagement among Christians with moral failures of the past and maintains that biblical values must guide political decisions. He has publicly supported Donald Trump and collaborated with figures like Glenn Beck, despite criticism over interfaith alliances. In addition to his activism, Garlow has authored numerous books, including the New York Times best-seller Cracking DaVinci’s Code. He holds advanced degrees from Drew University, Princeton Theological Seminary, and Asbury Theological Seminary, and has served as a professor at Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Following the death of his first wife, Carol, in 2013, Garlow married Rosemary Schindler in 2014. Together, they have a blended family of eight children and nine grandchildren.
The Covenant by James L. Garlow shines a light on God's heart for mankind. When we comply with its mutual agreement, we will be astounded at the riches He has in store for us--- here and in His kingdom to come. The title downplays the extravagant generosity that is expressed within its pages. Gain a new understanding of God's covenant and notice its remarkable effect on your faith and love.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! Clearly outlined and easy to understand. Thankful for the "Notes" in the back listing other authors and books for continued reading.
Great book and a short, easy read for those who would like to gain a clearer understanding of the 'blood covenant' God made with Abraham. This book helped to connect what was center in the old testament to was is center in the new testament helping to link the two. I gained so much understanding of the covenant.
