Shadows in the Twilight: Conversations with a Shaman

Rate this book
When W. L. Ham approaches the Nagual Lujan Matus for insight into enigmatic events that have marked his awareness, what he learns revolutionizes everything he thought he knew. Realizing he has found an authentic guide, Bill enters into an intensive apprenticeship and directly begins to experience our living matrix as the multiplex of lucid interactivity that it truly is.Like countless others, Bill had been galvanized when concepts like the energy double, dreaming awareness and first and second attention were introduced in the 1960s by Carlos Castaneda. Exploring these fascinating propositions in his own waking and dreaming life, he found himself faced with discoveries and challenges utterly unaccounted for by conventional definitions of reality.What began as a faithful documenting of question and answer sessions has resulted in a most extraordinary manual on the crucial yet little understood subject of reclaiming our transdimensional sovereignty. A friendly flow of dialogue belies the gravity of this material, as Lujan deftly elucidates the very fabric of existence with humble yet compelling authority.These are no second-hand sorcery tales but genuine revelations from a seer bound by his inevitability to communicate what he knows. Describing the innermost workings of the holographic universe with a rare precision, these teachings decode riddles of perception that have long been surrounded with confusion, providing a luminous bridge to our true potential as human beings. Although what Lujan reveals is sometimes alarming, this is tempered by his multifaceted affirmation that the key to freedom lies in sincerely applying ourselves to the moment that continually escapes us; guided only by that most precious instrument of divination, our heart.

Lujan Matus is a master intuitive empath with a unique ability to immerse individuals and groups in a rarefied state where the subtle currents of the interconnective universe become tangible. When quantum entanglement shifts from an abstract concept to a perceivable reality, we are automatically propelled into an entirely new way of being. As a teacher and guide, Lujan is able to offer a genuine experience of how this feels. Once this is absorbed, anything that does not resonate with this quality of communion is innately understood to be void of meaning.

Lujan's comprehensive teachings provide lasting tools to allow one to recognize and develop their own personal relationship with the unknown. As a person who has devoted himself to advanced physical, spiritual and interpersonal evolutionary principles and disciplines for a lifetime, his attainment as a human being is immediately evident. However, he does not beckon recognition for this but uses his capacities to invite exponential growth, in himself and in others, and this inner stance is revealed in his every gesture.

What is so compelling about Lujan's methods and movement forms are the immediate effects on consciousness and the physical results, which are nothing but extraordinary. Both as an intensely personal experience, and within the remarkable metamorphoses of group consciousness, transformation occurs very quickly. As soon as one begins, the observable effects become apparent. The system of Lo Ban Pai restores one's internal matrix to its true inherent power. The essential outcome being the ability to realize that which is most valuable, which appears right in front of you: a path with heart. In other words to be attuned to a state of empathic communion.

Lujan leans towards the values of ancient Buddhism and esoteric Taoist teachings, embracing the all-encompassing view of empathy and compassion as the essential hallmarks of the philosophical system of Lo Ban Pai. His teachings release shamanism from the subtexts latently embedded within a sorceric view, dethroning these incongruent values in favor of the timeless wisdom that truly embodies the essence of the intelligence that arrives through emptiness. Journeying into this seemingly simple engagement, a seer begins to awaken to the highly sought after ecstasy that abides within.

Author of The Art of Stalking Parallel Perception, Awakening the Third Eye, Shadows in the Twilight, Whisperings of the Dragon and Who am I? Lujan offers private courses and group workshops in various locations around the world as well as online evolutionary tuition.

This book is a gem, a reality check and a gift that keeps on giving. More books like this would be a blessing.

APPROACH: The text is a transcription of teaching interactions between Lujan and one of his apprentices, Bill, reworked for print. Bill has questions about shamanic teachings, concepts and some of his personal experiences.

BACKGROUND: The works of Carlos Castaneda had a large influence on Bill, who is serious about spirituality. He interacts with Lujan to learn, make sense of and find ways to make his knowledge practical. Lujan transmits contextual insights, and speaks to experiences and questions from Bill. It is a privilege to 'sit-in' on these discussions. Their transformative power, and the actual perceptions it transforms were so unexpected, useful and paradigm-shifting! I cannot thank the author enough.

The TONE of the book is sincere and direct and does not float off into new-age fluff, dogmatic traditionalism or academic stoicism. As a teacher to student oral transmission by design, learning ‘shamanic wisdom’ as a silent participant in their conversations offers a natural path for learning with Bill. This is made more valuable since Bill is asking hard and relevant questions of someone who lives in our real world, has been active on his own path for decades and who has no time left for glamor, silver bullets or self-serving make belief. You will be able to relate to Bill and therefore to Lujan’s answers.
This style enables the text to teach a lot of things that multiply in meaning as it unfolds, because all the concepts relate to one another.

CONTENT: The book does not teach shamanism as a topic. It covers mankind and its predicament, and a path with heart as a way to navigate this life. In re-reading chapters it provided usable insights between the lines pertaining to one’s relationship, motivation and utilisation of a spiritual path.

TOPICS:
Lujan covers and clarifies several concepts including (some in the 'Castaneda terminology' from Bill's questions):
- Traps regarding dreaming, better yet how to avoid it;
- what intent should be avoided in dreaming at all cost and why;
- what is the definitive journey we often talk about but don't really get;
- our photonic energy and how it should be used, preserved, and why;
- our multi-dimensionality;
- how our double fits into all this;
- The inorganic beings and their relation to us;
- Four levels of attention;
- Stalking & recapitulation.
= There are many gems one cannot just list in bullet points. This book is about shifts, not making inventories.

RECOMMENDATION:
This book was an eye opener; I just cannot imagine how a reader will not benefit in the most unexpected ways, regardless of spiritual or system. It helps you know yourself -AND those things in you that are NOT yourself. The benefits here should be obvious and no-one has treated these important concepts as well as Lujan.

This is an extraordinary work from an extraordinary individual who writes not to sell, but to serve through knowledge.

More accessible than the Art of Stalking Parallel Perceptions, this is an excellent companion book to bring more understanding of the world and practices of Lujan Matus. While Art of Stalking Parallel Perceptions is an introductory story, and the third eye book (missing title) includes exercises, this book records conversations by Lujan Matus' apprentices.

Most interestingly, for fans of Carlos Castenada, he attempts to correct misunderstanding of those books that Lujan attempts to correct today. That, in and of itself, should make this a worthy read.
