Sandy Loyd is a Western girl through and through. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, she's worked and lived in some fabulous places in the US,including South Florida. She now resides in Kentucky and writes full time. As much as she loves her current hometown, she misses the mountains and has to go back to her roots to get her mountain fix at least once a year.

She spent her single years in San Francisco and considers that city one of America's treasures, comparable to no other city in the world. Her California Series, starting out with Winter Interlude, are all set in the Bay Area. Her series consists of fun, heartwarming stories about crazy friends who, like single people everywhere, are seeking that someone special to share their lives with among thousands of eligible candidates.

The Sin Factor is an espionage romantic suspense story. Jeffrey Sinclair (Sin) and his two partners are trying to find their prototypes that their company was working on before the prototypes were stolen. The only intel that they have received was that the widow Avery Montgomery is the key to finding their prototypes.

Avery was living with the guilt of sending her husband to his death during a military operation. When someone shot at both Avery and Sin, Sin took it upon himself to protect Avery. Avery didn't believed that she was the one that the shooter wanted but when someone broke into her house, she couldn't decide who she could trust. She didn't know Sin and she couldn't trust the General.

Both Avery and Sin have their own relationship issues to work out. Avery realized that her deceased husband has never loved her and that she was more of hostess than wife to him. Sin has been burned in a marriage of being betrayed by his ex-wife. Sin is more reserved about entering into another relationship when he still have trust issues with the opposite sex. Their attraction to each other is undeniable.

This book has so many twists and turns and characters with unscrupulous backgrounds. The story will lead readers/listeners trying to figure out who is the spy and who does have the prototypes.

The narrator, Carol Dines, does a fine job in narrating the story and providing the voices for the characters in the story. I am looking forward to Avery's sister and Sin's friend/business partner who is an ex-policeman's story and to Carol Dines in narrating their story.

Suspense, intrigue and romance - what more can you ask for? Three childhood friends (Sin, Des and Eric) form a company and develop a product being tested by the military. The prototypes go missing after a military ambush. The widow (Avery) of one of the men killed is believed to be the key to finding the missing prototypes - if not found in time, the company that created them will be out of business. Sin and Avery have instant chemistry and his protective instincts emerge stronger than ever before. I love the characters in this book. They're understandable and pull you into their world. This book was a page turner, and I really didn't want it to end. The romance angle was a little light for me, but I really didn't even need it. (I did enjoy it though.) I would have liked to see a little more communication (especially between Sin and Avery), and the ending was wrapped up a little too quickly for my liking. I will say that I figured out where the prototypes were fairly early on, but I did not anticipate the tangents and trying to determine who the good guys and who the bad guys were. Overall, I'm glad I've found Sandy Loyd's books and look forward to reading more from her in the future. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes a good story with twists and turns.

My favorite book so far by this author. From the first chapter there was action and excitement. Although I think the mystery and suspense is meant to be dominant in this story the romance is much more prominent, no complaints about that. There is mutual attraction and interest on both parts from the beginning and it gradually increases. This has noticeably been one of Sandys more mature books and shows a little more intimacy. Not too little for older readers and not too much for the younger ones. Sin and Avery are without a doubt my favorite couple of her books. Sin just has this sad, guarded, hard exterior that once broken down will lay down his life for the one he loves and Avery is that sad, lonely, woman filled with undeserved guilt that deserves happiness. They just fit. Towards the end one event did make me a little mad at Sin but it was a small mistake and forgivable in the end because the rest of the book he was amazing to Avery and her son.

"A Good Story That Felt Disconnected"

Avery and Sin are both at the cemetery and someone shoots at one of them. Which one was shot at and who was the shooter? This leads into some twisty suspense but it felt somewhat disconnected and too drawn out. There were places in the book that were tedious and slow which made it hard to keep up with. This was a good story with good characters but needed editing down somewhat.

Carol Dines is a good narrator. I've listened to other work by her but this performance seemed contrived. There were a few places that had long pauses, perhaps an audio issue but she handled it fine.

Based on the cheesy title of this book, I expected another poorly-written and self-published ebook. After all, it was a freebie on Amazon. I was pleasantly surprised. The story is well-developed and the characters are fully fleshed-out. The book was adequately revised for clarity and length and sufficiently edited to eliminate most typographical and grammatical errors. A particular pet peeve or mine was evident repeatedly - the use of the simple past tense when the past perfect tense would make the sequence of events clearer. This grammatical structure comes across as amateurish to me.

Interesting story but somewhat let down by the heroine.  
Good mixture of action and romance, with attractive male characters with interesting backstories and a mystery/secret that will keep you guessing. If anything, I missed a more substantial female lead. I found Avery difficult to connect to as she didn't seem to have any interests or life other than her home.

Romantic Intrigue

Is it industrial espionage or just a sin? Much more important, what has sin got to do with it? A prototype is stolen during military testing, but was it really stolen? In the middle of everything stands a woman who is innocent with only a piece of her dead husband's heart following a fatal ambush in Afghanistan.
Ms. Lloyd takes her time to build her characters allowing each of us an inside track to their thoughts, deeds, and fallacies. Love is on the line and there is no doubt given her alliterative skill, that she can write in a fashion allowing the reader to visualize each and every participant.
I gave Ms. Lloyd 4/5 stars because she spent an inordinate amount of time building her characters. Much more time than I'm used to spending in story development, because many other authors allow more room for the mystery of the characters. It's merely an unexpected approach.

WOW..so many plot twists and whodunnits! I loved this book...from start to finish, the character development made me feel like I knew each character. From Avery to Scottie, this book kept my attention. I especially loved the romance between Sin and Avery..it sizzled from the very start. I also enjoyed the tension between Des and Terri and look forward to their story. I was totally engrossed in the story, at each turn I kept changing my mind of who was the theif, and where were those prototypes? Who is following Avery, what is the Colonel doing, and who is Esperanza really?

Carol Dines delivers a flawless performance, her voice is perfect with each character change.

If you love suspense and romance, this one is for you. Highly recommend it.

The Sin Factor is a story about a man named Jeffery Sinclair, his partners Desmond Phillips and Eric Coleman who are trying to figure out who is stealing from their company. Avery Montgomery is the link to solving the mystery since her husband Major Michael Andrew Montgomery was the last known person to have the devices before he was killed. The story is full of mystery, suspense, and romance. When you think you know what will happen next you are thrown for a loop. The story is well written, the characters are well developed, and will keep you at the edge of your seat. I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
