A DEADLY BEEF, Book 2 in the Classic Diner Mystery Series from New York Times Bestselling Author Jessica Beck! When a local supplier is murdered on his farm after a very public confrontation at The Charming Moose Diner, Victoria and her grandfather, Moose, must find the real killer before the bad beef they had gets even worse!
Jessica Beck is a pseudonym used by Tim Myers. Jessica Beck is the penname of an author who has been nominated for the Agatha Award and named an Independent Mystery Booksellers Association national bestseller nearly a dozen times.
Jessica Beck loves donuts, and has the figure to prove it. It's amazing what people can convince themselves is all in the name of research! For each recipe featured in the donut mysteries, a dozen more are tried and tested.
When not concocting delicious treats, Beck enjoys the rare snowfalls near her home in the foothills of North Carolina.
Short review: there is nothing much to say. there were total 4 suspect and one you have suspected the most - guess what, that is the killer. bingo! no fuss, no muss, no extra crust...or whatever.

Aftermath: (possible spoilers) I enjoyed grand-daughter - grand-father duo. that was enjoyable team, though I'm not sure who calls their grandparents by their first names...but it was unusual duo which kept my attention till the end. or saved this book from DNF pile...
I really enjoyed my stroll through Jasper Fork. I love visiting the Charming Moose Diner. Moose and Victoria make a fun crime solving duo. I also like the side character of Moose and Victoria's spouses. This was a great story line with a lot of suspects and some tasty food with recipes included. This is a simple fun series with great characters and this book I enjoyed getting to know the spouses as well as our main characters.
Second book in the Classic Diner Mystery series. It isn’t so much the who dunit or the how dunit but more about the why dunit in this story. A murder occurs, a member of the diner is on the suspect list, and Vic and Moose set out to clear the good name and reputation of both the family and the business It does keep you jumping to keep up with all the clues and has a twist at the very end that you probably won’t see coming.
I think this one is right on the money with what goes on in the world today! Poor Wally had to die that way and then others seemed to be scared of who might be after them, too! Enjoy!
This novel is the second in the series "The Classic Diner." I read this series because it is a true 'cozy' murder mystery. If you are looking for unexpected thrills or chest grabbing moments, then you will not enjoy this book...but...if you are looking for a cozy to sit and relax and catch up with character friends as in a 'diner' well, open the pages this book is perfect for you!
Third generation diner owner, Victoria Nelson, her husband Greg Nelson, Mother, Grandmother, and Grandfather Moose (whom the diner is named for- "The Charming Moose", all come together to aid the sleuthing duo in solving the murder crime of a former supplier to the diner.
The duo is Grandfather Moose and Victoria. They get along together so well that it is amazing to me and I want to be 'friends' with them. O.K. Yes I know they are characters in a book, but my life always could use a relationship as they share with their family and friends, including the Sheriff.
Sheriff Croft is an amazing character as well. He uses common sense and knows his two nosiest citizens are going to investigate no matter what he wants, so let them. Yes, I know, amazing outlook but oh so practical. I am blown away by it.
This book ends with a surprise but I liked it. Remember you might find allies where you don't expect them. Enjoy a cozy read and you will be back!
I enjoyed this even more than the first book in this series. What I enjoy most is the interaction between Victoria and her grandfather, Moose, as they try to solve these crimes. A lot of it is rather hokey but works in this format. A quick, enjoyable read.
Victoria and her grandfather start questioning people about the murder of a local farmer, then his handy man, and the arson of the farmer's house. There is a really good recipe for a pot roast that I want to try.
This book she has pulled up her socks and got it right. She started with a body before the first chapter and the solution did not reveal itself until the last three pages. Great mystery story.
