Comic book and screenwriter Nathan Edmondson is a native of Augusta, GA. His Eisner-nominated book Who Is Jake Ellis? will soon be a major motion picture from 20th Century Fox, and The Activity film will come soon from Paramount Pictures. NPR has listed his work among the “Top 6 Comics to Draw You In” and USA Today and CNN are among those who have listed him in their Top 10 lists.
The plot tightens... We're switching from seemingly unrelated invidual stories to something bigger. Some characters gets more fleshy, some probably will soon. They're human after all, but so professional, it gets frightening. The depiction of the ISA actions smells truth. Being no SOF myself, I couldn't tell but it looks so real, it's good enough. A must read if you like good SOF stories, no flashy, no one-explosion-every-2-pages stuff. Solid stories that might give the reader an insight of the work of these unseen and unsung heroes.
Enjoyable look at elite intelligence gathering unit - Nathan has a good knowledge of his chosen subject and portrays the missions without the usual Gung Ho attitude that accompanies this type of Graphic Novel. The books are short and focus on the mission and technology leaving very little room for characater development - hence the 3/5
It is kind of funny that a graphic novel series is probably the best open source information about ISA, but it sort of is true. As well, they are interesting and entertaining fictional stories heavily inspired by reality.
More of the same from a very devoted team. Edmondson and Gerads understand the assignment and execute this beautifully.
What makes this nimble book so special is their ability to tell fully-contained stories within the few pages of each and every issue. And while this would be remarkable on its own, they also push B plots along, and make the whole thing seem effortless.
This is honest without being showy, and exciting without being hokey.
Recommended for those even moderately interested in the sub-genre.
Not all missions run without a hitch. Often the team has to improvise which can lead to failing their objectives. Their personal lives must also be kept in check. Any attachments must be vetted and sometimes broken for the job. That's dedication for you.
