Crime writing at its best: strong stories, frighteningly real characters and powerful narratives. This collection is a showcase of talent from new and established writers. Find yourself trapped in the heads of victims pleading for mercy, or the evil minds of cold bloodied serial killers. Whether it's blackmail, obsession or a case of wrong place, wrong time, there is blood. And there is crime. Crime after Crime.
Crime after Crime is a collection of crime stories. If it’s murder you want, this book will deliver it. No doubt about it. It was a compilation of various authors and stories, some written by United States writers and some by United Kingdom writers. I state this because one of the stories I thoroughly enjoyed used a word that I had to look up. The story was entitled The Courgette House. I said to myself after reading a little bit, What’s a Courgette? Only to find out a courgette is a zucchini. It definitely sounds better with the English word than with the American word. The scariest story for me was The Rat Trap because it dealt with all kinds of murders ramping up from one to the other and it was so intense I had to know what was going to happen and it kept me engaged up to the end but at the same time I felt a little uncomfortable reading it. My favorite story was Foxtrot which took place in a senior center and one of the senior citizens planned the murder of another senior with good reason. The reason it called Foxtrot was the seniors went there to dance. The variety of stories from these talented authors, one of whom had won creative writing competitions and others who had degrees in writing are worth your time to give it a go. They are short and can be read before bedtime, or on a lunch break, or even at tea time. I enjoyed them immensely.
Interesting short stories but a bit on the gruesome side. Some have interesting plot twists. Some develop characters particularly well for the short story format.
