Torrential flooding has driven Jonathan Park and his dad to seek shelter in a hidden cave. There they collide with the cave's owners, the Brenan family, who are also escaping the storm. When the Parks and Brenans discover a massive dinosaur graveyard nearby, both families combine to build a creation science museum for the glory of the Creator. But the path to completion has some unexpected twists, with ruthless artifact dealers, mysterious encounters, and much more! ''The Adventure Begins, '' Volume I of the Jonathan Park Audio Adventure Series, includes twelve thrilling episodes.
The whole Jonathan Park series has a super cool Christian Scientific Message with amazing facts, however, the drama and logic behind the characters decisions drive me crazy.
Most of the time I just sit there cringing when I'm listening to this series..... :P
I have really enjoyed this series and can't wait to hear vol. 10! I love how accurate they are Biblically and how it has encouraged my family and myself to memorize the Bible. However, I have found that not everything scientifically spoken can be trusted. I contacted a friend of mine who is a renowned Creation Scientist (name withheld) and received back not an email or phone call, but a book (aka LONG letter) in which he dissects one album part by part and refutes a good deal of it with scientific data which cannot be refuted (as many have tried to do). This alone isn't so bad as to cause me to decline listening to this series. There is, however, another aspect which greatly concerns me, and that is the dynamics within each family and both families together. These relationships trouble me greatly, especially the father/daughter relationship. I have spoken with several people of whom I hold high regards in their knowledge and Christian Walk; they have confirmed a few aspects and brought forth even more than I had realized, how different a truly Godly family should be with one another.
While I rate these volumes very highly, I do take into consideration those things which I have spoken about, and make sure that my children understand what is right and what is wrong. Please, listeners, please be careful; there IS a wolf in sheep's clothing within these stories. And please, don't get me wrong! I do not disagree with everything, neither do I say "don't listen" to Jonathan Park. I have, after all, rated these four stars! Just be careful not to take everything as right/correct without careful listening and study, both of God's Word which is our number one source, but also of science and its role here.
My daughter would definitely give this book a higher rating, but I found it overly dramatic and unrealistic. However, the message of creation is good and the character's have good moral values. My almost six year old listened to it but I think the stories are designed for a slightly older audience. As I listened, I learned a few new things about creation and some creatures. My guess is my daughter will want to listen to more of these books, but I think I need a break from there for a little bit.
Good stuff! The whole family enjoyed Jonathan Park. It's power-packed with creation information. So much that it can be hard to follow! We found ourselves rewinding the tape asking "What did he say?"
