What you thought you knew about the BIBLE....is about to CHANGE.
What if you found out you were the granddaughter of the first woman, no not Eve, but Lilith? After 150 years Dika Edens, the oldest of 4 girls each destined to live forever finds out that very thing. She is not sure if it is a curse or a gift from the Gods. All she knows is the man that has informed her of this has way too much guilt on his shoulders regarding her and her past. Chrome is her Guardian but that does not mean he can protect her from everything. He should be the first one to know that - since he is the one telling her that she must save the world.
My name is Dika, I am an American born Hungarian, Polish, Spanish Gypsy with a little bit of something special, born right here in the green state of Oregon, home of the Beavers. History would be changed in a matter of a few words spoken from the man that has been haunting my dreams. My sisters and I need to save the world and if we don't the Universe will cease to exist as we know it.
My name is Chrome Jai, Dragon Guardian to Dika Edens, created to protect her from the evils of the first human woman mother of mankind. I will protect her as she fights to save the humans, but her first assignment will be to make it through the first 48 hours and find her Aunt and her Grandmother.
We will go together to hell and back just to fix the mess of the Gods and man.
I am the mother of three wonderful children and three step-children. I am married to the most wonderful man in the world, who has gave me the inspiration to fulfill my dreams, this dream included.
I was born here in the Pacific Northwest, I love the green scenery and the wet weather.
I love writing about the characters that fill my head and tell me their stories. It clears my mind and gives me strength to carry on in my easy life.
What if… the story of Adam and Eve isn’t what you believed it to be?
What if… Eve wasn’t Adams first wife, but his second?
What if… when Eve took that bite of the apple not only got them all thrown out of the Garden, but laid a curse upon them all at the same time?
Take everything you know about the Bible and the world creation and… twist it a bit. Then add Dragons/Guardians, Immortals, Demons, Vampires, Shifters and you will end up with J.M Schroder’s Thunderstorm.
Meet Drika and her sisters, all descendants from Lilith, Adam’s first wife. They never knew why they were different and important when growing up. All they knew was all the women in their family couldn’t die and they never looked older than 30, while all the men born into the family lived a natural life and died – just like everybody else.
Drika, Aishe, Drina and Lala all have their own special powers, but are nowhere near controlling them, and that’s where their Guardians come in. They’re created especially by the Gods to protect and help the Daughters, each of them with their own power(s) to match their special Daughter.
It all starts when Drika finally meets her Guardian, Crome. She’s been dreaming of him for some time, not knowing who he was, only knowing he was safety. When he appears right in front of her when she’s out in the forest trying to recalibrate herself, everything changes. Suddenly Drika and her three sisters are thrown into a battle that has existed for millennia, started by Eve. The only ones who might be able to save the world is Drika and her sisters, but first they need to find their aunt Isis and their grandmother Lilith.
The world Jennie (the author) has created is wonderful with loads of surprises and takes everything you thought you knew for a good long spin. It was fast-paced and filled with mystery, action, clues, sorrow and anguish, happiness and love.
I loved all the sisters and their different personalities, not to forget their gorgeous dragons/Guardians. The four sisters love and trust each other and are truly strongest together and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
There is one thing though, I need to talk about. The editing on Thunderstorm is… well, it’s bad to tell you the truth. The grammar, misspellings, half sentences ect is… Well, it kinda ruins the book. As you know English is my second language and it does tend to give some misspellings and grammatical errors from time to time (just ask Laurie), but this? Not good. And it’s so sad because Thunderstorm has SO much potential and could’ve been a much, much better read if “just” the editing would’ve been better. I did read the entire book because despite the very bad editing, I wanted to know what happened. And I want to read the next book, simply because I liked the story. It just needed the last touch.
I would without a doubt recommend this book to you guys, but if I were you, I would wait until it’s been re-edited. I did talk to Jennie (the author) about the lack of editing and she told me she was aware of it and a new editor is working on it.
So keep your eyes open for this new author, she’s definitely worth giving a shot, just wait until her book has been re-edited. I will let you know the moment it’s done. :-)
If you want to read a snippet from the book, come by the blog tomorrow (February 8), we are a part of the Thunderous Blog Tour and we’re running an excerpt!
***Warning*** (Sexual language, this book is for ADULTS ONLY!!!)
Dragons,Gods,Goddesses, Vampires, Demons, and more. A little bit of everything in this astounding retelling of Adam,Eve,Lilith and how everything came about after there creation. What happened because of the choices that were made eons ago? Dika and her sisters have lived many years, I mean hundreds of years, and have kept mostly to themselves. However evil has plans that could ultimately destroy all! Born to protect her Chrome was created, he is a Dragon Guardian. He was created to watch over and protect Dika and only her since the day she was born. Not ever being able to meet each other face to face until the Gods said so. Well the day has come and it is not with good news. Dika and her sisters are a big part of a war that is to come and Chrome gets the fun job of breaking the news to Dika. This war, the war of all wars, a fight against Evil to save the universe from destruction. I fell hard into this story. The characters have strong personalities and found myself laughing out loud in almost every chapter. Though when I was not laughing I was in the middle of some SUPER HOT intense intimate scenes. You knew every feeling, could picture every detail and when I closed my eyes I could picture everything! Schroder did an amazing job and I can not wait to read the next book, please don't make us wait too long!!!
Dika Evans is over 150 years old.. she is also the granddaughter of Lilith, Adam’s first wife/girlfriend/lover whatever you want to call her.. This is a refreshing detail for me why you ask.. well Lilith is GOOD for a change.. Its Eve who is the evil one.. But more on this later on.. lets focus on Dika for a minute.. Dika is the oldest of the Evan sisters there are 4 girls total.. While she doesnt realize who she is and the significance it is obvious to them that they are all different.. They all come equipped with super powers.. Which will all come in handy because of Evil Eve and her plans.. Plans that includes the Evan sisters as they are the 4 horse(wo)men of the apocalypse!! YESSSS!! im sure ive touched on my fondest for biblical fiction.. I love it.. I adore it.. I cant get enough of it!! So the sisters to be honest they call confused me I dont remember who is who.. I shouldve written a cast list with their abilities.. you know I love my cast lists! Created/trained to protect Dika.. Jai Chrome has been watching her every move since her birth.. Though he wasnt there the one time she needed him (which he beats himself up for regularly) he intends never to leave her again.. although Dika hasnt seen Chrome she has felt his presence her whole life.. finally she calls him out.. and thank you god she did because the passion between those to could light a fire.. It may seem weird to have a man dragon follow you your whole life.. but id sign up for that.. were it possible.. The passion between Dika and Chrome was definitely an added perk to this amazing book.. They face many revelations and obstacles.. I mean just when you think you can breathe again.. BAM! POW! SWAT! Something else happens from out of no where.. The twists.. turns and action from Schroder has me bowing to her..lol.. Seriously she mixed some of my favorite things.. The beautiful state of Oregon.. the bible and sex.. haha fun combo huh.. All ad all I couldn’t be more pleased and yes im eagerly awaiting book 2..
This urban fantasy novel Thunderstorm is the first book in the Daughters of Eden series by J.M Schroder. Fitting nicely into the urban fantasy genre this book brings a slightly new twist to the bible myths that we know and love today. This first book follows Dika the oldest of 4 sisters born of Hungarian gypsy decent or so they believe with a few exceptions; special powers and the ability to outlive all the males of their line. Dika finds herself caught up in something bigger than she can imagine as her as she discovers the existence of her Dragon guardian Chrome and listens as he explains that it is up to her and her sisters to save the world.
I really liked the story concept. I found it different and refreshing from some of the plot lines I have come across. It was evident that the author spent a lot of time thinking and plotting out the outcome of the story, so much so that I think she didn’t pay enough attention to how the story flowed. The one issue that I had while reading this story was the change of POV between Dika and her Dragon Guardian Chrome. This was hugely distracting because none of the chapters were tilted and bits of the story were retold by both characters. I had to do a lot of rereading to figure out who was telling the story. I do realize that this is the first book in the series and often times the first book is a bit rough, and as the story progresses it smooth out in later installments. I feel with better editing this issue would improve the flow of the book greatly.
With a great number of characters in this story, of which I am sure we will get to know better in later volumes of this series, this book is Dika’s story. Dika is feisty, untrusting and a loner. Her past has created who she is today and there are dark bits of her past that come to play in this volume. Dika in the beginning was a bit two dimensional to me and I felt there were bits and pieces of her story that were not being told which were soon revealed in the end and we had a fully fleshed out heroine of this story. Chrome who shares the lead character title with Dika, was not so, he felt very flat and one dimensional. He was almost robotic in a sense which really made his chapters hard to read. I do understand though what the author was trying to get across, he was a being that did not exist except to protect Dika, he had no other interaction with humans or his brethren which made him a bit cold. I would like to place an adult warning, there are quite a few sexual encounters between the characters at the most inopportune times. Though the steamy encounters were written well, however I felt that it distracted from the storyline.
I can find little fault with the author’s writing ability and I am looking forward to reading more to see how she evolves as a writer. With that said I give this a rating of three stars, the rating would have been higher if not for the confusing POV chapters. I feel with a good once over with a good editor would be beneficial for this book. If you are looking for an easy and quick read then I say give it a go!
Wow. What a whirlwind of a book! It ended much quicker than I expected and was left with a feeling of longing and needing to have more. This was such an incredible and imaginative story that takes an old biblical fable and twists it with other pantheons, dragons, magick, and a hint of spice. I was hooked from the start and couldn’t wait to see where the characters took me next each time I had to put it down. I’m enthralled by the author’s ability to weave a beautiful story with such complexity. Though there are so many things that I love about this book. There were things that I loved and at the same time, weren’t really my thing. And it’s important for me to note that these things didn’t bother me to the point it distracted me from the story. I was completely pulled in. So take this next part as a giant compliment to the author to make me enjoy the things I don’t normally care for. I love the characters, but Drina and Dika kept getting mixed up for me, then Delilah came in and I was trying to keep three D names separate. It got easier as the book progressed, especially in the chapters that were Dika’s. Eventually, it was like I had become a part of the family and were able to quickly recall who was who between the three of them. Dika’s opinions seem to shift with her moods, which changed frequently, but she’s a solid and multi-faceted character who seemed realistic. There were points where I wanted to see more of her thought process from, just to get a better look into her motivations, but with the pacing of the story, it would’ve slowed it down too much. And what woman who can conjure storms wouldn’t change her mind and mood frequently? That’s what made her so likeable for me. That, and it was nice to not have every aspect of her described in the first book. Really nice to discover her as though I was a new friend. I loved the two viewpoints of Dika and Chrome, though I really could’ve gone without so much repetition. But the way the author did the scenes, it really added more depth to the story and gave more information as it was necessary and applied to those points. This is where it really shows how much work the author has put into her stuff. You see this also with the complex plot. However, I feel somewhat cheated by the “telling” of conversations instead of showing me what was said through character dialogue. The repetitive use of names with the dialogue was distracting, annoying, and endearing. And I mean that in the most loving way. Truly. The sex scenes were hot, but I feel too much description with crude labels lessoned the impact for me. I like it steamy, just not “smutty.” The author did a very good job avoiding that but still making it as erotic as the scene called for. And there wasn’t too many of those scenes where they just felt tossed in.
Overall, I generally enjoyed this story immensely. I can't wait to pick up the others!
Note: This review will appear on Goodreads and Amazon.
So you have read the blurb right? Now take everything you know about Adam and Eve and throw it out the window, because this story is so much better.
Now add Demon's,Vampire's,Dragons,Gods,Goddesses, and of course four Different sisters and WOW you are taking on a great Fantasy ride.
You are sucked in right from the beginning and you are hooked on this fast flowing, action packed and even a little sexy story. And I'm so glad i took that ride i enjoyed this book so much.
Dika is the oldest of the 4 sister's and suffers with nightmares to do with a horrible attack she suffered. She has always felt someone around her and has always been calmed by that presence. So when she needs space and goes camping she asks for that presence to show itself and when it does OMG the sexy Chrome stands in front of her and WOW is there some sexual tension going on.And yes the sex is hot.
She finds out what Chrome is, he has watched her all her life as her Guardian and loves her but also feels guilt over the night she was attacked. He also explains what she and her sister's are and what they need to do.
And then the fun starts we find out what they have to do to to save the world and it means them all coming together to do this. Her sisters also have Guardians one has know for a while and not told anyone..One doesn't want one or anything to do with him and one will lets just say he is different.I don't want to say to much as i don't want to give to much away.
But i will tell you that Dika has to fight Eve and Lucifer it doesn't end well and changes her in more than one way.But Chrome is always there and loves her and will be at her side no matter what.
I loved this journey through Dika and Chromes eyes and I'm left with questions like..
Can the sister's save the other Daughter's? Will they all be strong enough to fight the evil Eve and Lucifer and bring them down? Well I'm going to have to wait to read book 2 to find those answers i guess and i can't wait to find out.
I thoroughly enjoyed this action-packed urban fantasy with paranormal romance elements and highly recommend it. Thunderstorm is the first book of the Daughters of Eden series and the first novel published by Mrs. Schroder. It introduces us to a fascinating world that gives a new spin to the biblical story of Genesis and brings us to the present time where the Apocalypse is about to begin. The main characters are Dika, who is 150 years old but stopped aging at the age of 30 and is immortal, though not a vampire; and her guardian, Chrome, who transforms from dragon to man to invisible presence and was created by the Gods to protect Dika. The story is told by Dika and Chrome, who alternate narrating from one chapter to the next, sometimes offering their unique points of view about the same event, a literary device well used by this author.
The author did an excellent job creating a very imaginative plot and very likable characters; however, her editor failed in doing an equally excellent job resulting in grammatical errors and less than perfect sentence structures in some places, which detracted a bit from an otherwise superb story.
I will definitely be reading the rest of the Daughters of Eden series as soon as the books are published. I invite everyone to give this new author a chance, she has a lot to offer and will undoubtedly only get better as she continues to develop her craft.
Dika is a Daughter of Eden and along with her much loved sisters she possesses magical powers that must be harness in order to fulfil her destiny. Chrome is her guardian in the form of a shape shifting Dragon created to protect Dika for the entirety of her immortal existence. Once the gods finally allow Chrome to reveal himself to Dika the immediate attraction threaten to consume them both and distract them from what is most important. All they hold dear is threatened when Eve the spiteful and selfish bride of Lucifer seeks unprovoked vengeance against Lilith and the Daughters of Eden with the single minded intent to eradicate their entire bloodline. Will the daughters and their warrior’s band together in time to stop the pending apocalypse or will the secrets of their past be enough to destroy them? The steamy encounters between Chrome & Dika leave u breathless and wanting more but more than that I adore the bonded mate concept in this story it gives such a definitive take on love. All though I felt the story seemed at times repetitive in its descriptive content & lacked fluidity it more than made up for it with a fantastic plot, J.M. Schroder brings her magnificently imaginative characters to life in a wonderful world of fantasy.
Dika and her sisters are trying to live a normal life but as they will soon found out that is destiny has other plans for them. Secrets will be revealed that shock their world and bring them into the fight of the life time. As Dika and her sisters find that they have protectors called Guardians and as they find out what their destiny is the four horsemen. Will Dika and her sisters be able to handle the fight that is coming? Can they find love in the arms of their protectors as they were made to be their soulmates? Will they be able to full fill their destiny? I was so high impressed with this book. I loved it I couldnt put it down as I was drawn into their world and I so can't wait for the next book to see where they are taken. AS JM SChroder had me wanting more and more. Check out this awesome novel it is a must read. If you haven't read it yet get your copy today. JM Schroder has started an captivating new series.
Thunderstorm was an interesting read. It did indeed make me question the biblical stories about Adam and Eve being the first man and woman on earth, and the alternative was convincing enough to make it very believable.
I particularly liked the concept of these four sisters with special powers, and how they have a dragon guardian assigned to them since birth. There was a lot of ‘girl power’ coming across despite the dragon guardians being there to protect these women, and I’m glad because I’m not too fond of the whole damsel in distress concepts.
I look forward to finding out if and how the girls will get Drina back from the ruined garden, whether they will find Lilith, and what will become of Delilah because of the fatal bite.
Completely sucked into this book....and that is no pun towards the vampires involved. Everyone, religious or not, has heard the major stories of the Bible....Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and Samson and Delilah. This book is an incredible spin off those stories. Main characters Dika and Chrome are amazing. As Dika who views herself as plain an ordinary in comparison to her sisters is adored by her dragon Chrome. Any woman would consider herself blessed and lucky to be described as Chrome describes Dika. This book is action packed and now I am thoroughly disappointed that I have to wait for the next installments
This book was very descriptive (Characters, scenes, and areas) I loved the characters especially Dika and Chrome. (Just FYI Chrome will make you swoon) and all of the Daughters, and liked that Dika was jealous of her sisters but Chrome shows her that she is beautiful no matter what. I was able to finish this book in just a couple hours, sadly. It had very few errors, but I was too pulled into the book to even care. It is def. a different view on how things all started! And I cannot wait for the next book.
I read the blurb didn't think on it too much...started reading and WOWZERS!!! I was hooked from the word go, I loved it all and cannot wait to read more. I have to say this book surprised me, turned in ways I didn't expect. Seeing the world though Dika's and Chrome's eyes was amazing, their relationship is so believable. It is a wonderful story and I am truly impatient for more, way more. Kudos to JM Schroder for an excellent story and so unlike anything else out there.
Dika is immortal and the granddaughter of Lilith, one of the first women. Lilith’s line is cursed. The women in her family live forever while the men grow old and die. Dika lives with her three sisters, each has a special ability. The author reveals to the reader that each will play a big part in the war against Eve and Lucifer. They are important to the survival of humankind. Of course, they have no clue at first. The reader learns before the characters do. Since they are so important, the gods have created and assigned a dragon to protect each of them. These dragons have been beside them protecting them from the start, even though the sisters had no idea. These dragons are complementary to each sister and her soulmate. As the war begins, the dragons reveal themselves to each sister as they become a team. The search for the female members of the family is on. It becomes a major part of the storyline. I liked this book. Dika is a strong character and a true leader. The girls are only worried in the beginning about controlling their powers. Unfortunately for them, that doesn’t last long as they get pulled into a power struggle between Eve and Lilith. Then these strange men show up. Chrome reveals himself one day claiming to be her dragon. He is there to protect her. That goes over so well with Dika. Chrome is a good character and his innocence in the beginning is sweet. He is completely there for DIka which is sigh worthy and exactly what she needs. Her shock is very visible through the author’s words. Eventually she comes to terms with Chrome and they start to bond. It is one of my favorite parts of the book. He steadies her and always comes for her. Her sisters also meet their dragons as the war heats up. In fact, one dragon is a surprise and the others are unsure if he is trustworthy. I truly didn’t see that coming. It is a cool twist though. I like the secrets that are revealed and how the author spins the story. There isn’t a dull moment in the whole book. The reader is thrown into the story with Dika and Chrome as the author switches perspectives between the two. It was an exciting read. I give it a 4.5 out of 5.
This is a fantastic paranormal romance! I loved it!
Dika Edens is a wonderful character. She is the eldest of four sisters. She is 150 years old, but doesn't look a day over 30! Her longevity is thanks to her Grandmother, Lilith, the first woman created by God. She has, unknown to her, a protector in the form of Chrome Jai, a Dragon Guardian.
Chrome Jai is a sexy, but extremely protective, guardian. He was created as soon as Dika was born. He is a Thunder Dragon Guardian; he turns into a dragon, but he also has the ability to become a man or a type of mist. I wouldn't mind him being my guardian! ;)
This book is an intriguing take on the lives of Lilith, Adam and Eve, and their offspring from the Bible, although there is very little in the way of religion in this tale. The story is told through Dika and Chrome's point of view, and gives the reader an insight into their thoughts and actions. I loved the interaction between the characters, especially the sisters as, just like my relationship with my sisters, they have their moments. Unfortunately, when they have disagreements, or emotions run high, they tend to affect the world around them. Dika has an affinity to electricity and can control weather; I certainly wouldn't want to get on her bad side! The mutual attraction between Dika and Chrome is just as explosive! It basically makes the pages smoulder! There is plenty of other action too, which makes this book an exciting read! The danger faced by the sisters and their guardians has only just begun. I am now looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
J.M. Schroder has written an incredibly fast paced and sexy paranormal romance - I loved every moment of it! Because of the sensual scenes in this book, I do not recommend it for younger readers. However, if you love a steamy paranormal romance, then this is for you! - Lynn Worton
Thunderstorm is a fresh, imaginative, and convincing look at some of the oldest stories in human history. The way JM Schroder connects biblical characters with deities of other ancient cultures is presented in a way that makes you stop and wonder. The passion of her characters is undeniable and captivating both physically and spiritually. It leaves you feeling the strength and possibilities of love and courage, and begging for more! Dika and Chrome are indeed a match made in heaven and see the beauty that may not be visible to everyone, but can't be hidden from each other. The opening line definitely hooked me! I can't wait to read what happens next. I'm glad that there are more books of the Daughters on the way.
JM Schroder draws you into the minds of Dika Edens, the oldest of four daughters, and her dragon guardian, Chrome Jai. By alternating points of view from chapter to chapter, we are taken on a journey of love and enlightenment that can only be gifts from the Gods. Dika knows she and her sisters are special, but she has no idea how special and vital they are to humanity... to all of existence. While Chrome knows more than Dika, he has limitations placed on him by Ba'al and the other gods. Learning how their powers are controlled and how well they work together, Dika and her sisters are violently thrust into the reality that secretly surrounds us all. With one thing after another trying to stop them, the question that you must struggle with is: Will they have the strength they need in time? Thunderstorm provides some amazing answers, but leaves you begging the gods for more Daughters of Eden!
Thunderstorm, by J.M Schroder, is an action packed, romance driven, sister-bonding urban fantasy. The array of characters that J.M has created is pretty impressive. There really is an eclectic mix of strong female characters teamed with the collection of drool worthy dragon shifters. Plus the baddies are pretty terrifying too which is also a bonus.
The passion between the characters is almost palpable, making Thunderstorm a hot and steamy 18+ read. Throughout the entire book, there were so many pivotal moments that really engaged me. The pain and suspense experienced by the characters was well-crafted and evoked a good level of empathy from me.
I really enjoyed the concept and storyline of this book. There was a lot of originality to both the story's development and its characters.
Whilst overall, I really enjoyed the progress and development of Thunderstorm, the editing, however, had several flaws which at times was a little distracting.
If you are looking for a fiery urban fantasy with a heavy layer of PNR, then be sure to check out the very enjoyable Thunderstorm by J.M Schroder.
Disclosure: This ebook was provided by the author for free in exchange for an HONEST and not necessarily positive review.
Wow! Where to begin? I read this book in one day, so that in and of itself says something. It wasn't because the book was too short, but rather because I wanted to keep turning the pages to find out what was next.
I really enjoyed the idea behind the Daughters of Eden and think that it was one of the most creative storylines that I've read in a quite some time.
The idea of Dika and her sisters being direct descendants of Lilith—the first created female—was a unique twist on biblical tales as we know them and I was almost beside myself when Eve made an appearance. I won't give spoilers so you'll just have to read for yourself.
I was completely enchanted by the 'guardians' and enjoyed the way the changes to their 'forms' were described. Again, you'll have to read for yourself. *smile* Each character was easy to relate to. I adore each sister for separate reasons and their powers were befitting to their individual personalities. Ms. Schroeder was successful in creating a world that draws you in and keeps your attention.
Thunderstorm: Daughters of Eden is a smooth paced fantasy story, it is another story related to the Acropolis. J. M. Schroder has created a book to rival all others I have read on this topic, it is fast flowing, has plenty of sexual encounters, and will remain in the memory of all who read it.
I personally prefer that a story comes to a final destination, and not being left with a cliff hanger ending, having said that, I still would recommend this book as a great read, I only gave it four stars, but only, as it in my opinion it never finished as I would like.
The story is a interesting twist on the what really happen in the garden of Eden and those that descended after, I am truly in love with the sisters and their dragons. Well wrote and cant wait for the next novel to be released
