Tayos Gold : The Archives of Atlantis

In 1976, Scottish engineer Stan Hall organized a landmark expedition to the caves of the Tayos Indians in Ecuador, involving a dozen institutions, joint Special Forces and astronaut professor Neil Armstrong as Honorary President and participant. Hall was driven by curiosity about Erich von Daniken's report of a Metal Library allegedly found in the caves by investigator Juan Moricz in the mid-1960s (published in von Daniken's 1972 blockbuster Gold of the Gods). The story was considered unacceptable within an orthodox view of global history, especially in the absence of any ancient written script in South America. On this expedition, Hall began a personal odyssey into the heart of global enigmas: the origins of mankind, Atlantis, Ptolemy's lost city of Cattigara, and the sudden rise and fall of wonder civilizations… a journey that ended with his identification of Atlantis and Cattigara, and the entrance to the Metal Library along the Pastaza River in Ecuador. Interesting book, but it wasn't a smooth read.

прекратить читать лёгкую ебанину просто так невозможно, поэтому вот. история эквадорской "золотой библиотеки богов" и всей фигни, с ней связанной, получившейся не без вмешательства фон Деникена. что же было дальше, душенька?

изложение взглядов безумного Морица о том, что вся человеческая цивилизация вышла из мадьяр, конечно, тоже доставляет - это не вдумываться, откуда взялись сами мадьяры (мы уже знает такие истории про то, что все произошли от русов безумного Фоменко или албанцев тоже одного тут деятеля. а тут мадьяры)

но бОльшую часть книжки составляют тоже технически-логистические описания "приключений" белого туриста (никакие они с Деникиным, конечно не "исследователи") в скверно развитой стране третьего мира, что, как мы понимаем, выглядит на местности и изнутри этой страны совсем не так, как они это представляют читателям. а смысл всей "экспедиции" за "золотой книгой Атлантиды" сводился к тому, чтобы залучить в пещеру Нила Армстронга. на этом все изыскания кончились, никто ничего не нашел.

что же касается описания сокровищ со слов того, кто якобы действительно их видел (в отличие от фантазёра Морица) - Петронио Харамильи, то это явная брехня: у него в пещере все кристаллы сверкают (кто пыль веков-то с них вытирал?), а костей в золотом скелете ровно 208.

Interesting subject, but not a whole lot of story about the desired subject. More a recounting of procedural items needed to explore the cave, govt red tape, and name dropping and light on the subject of the Tayos gold or the caves. A bit of a disappointment.
