8 books
JC Adams was born, raised and educated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Upon graduation from college with departmental honors and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Writing, he defied the wishes of his parents and advisors and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as an author, where he quickly amassed a large collection of unproduced screenplays and rejected manuscripts.

In 1995, Adams found a freelance job reviewing porn films. That same year, he joined the volunteer organizers of the now-defunct Gay Erotic Video Awards. He parlayed the attention these jobs brought him into a career of moderate renown as a journalist, blogger, magazine editor, publicist, production manager and director.

He has worked as a reporter for adult industry trade publications ‘XBIZ’ and ‘Adult Video News’ and has served as the editor of several publications, including ‘Unzipped’ and the widely read ‘Adam Gay Video Directory.’ In early 1998, Adams began writing the weekly gossip and news column ‘The Adams Report by JC Adams,’ which he self-syndicated. The popular column morphed into the website GayPornTimes.com in 2007. The site was named Best Gay Porn Blog of the Year (2010) by the JRL Gay Film Awards, and Best Porn Blog by the Grabby Awards (2011).

Adams is regularly cited in the media for his views on sexuality, the pornography industry and pop culture. He was profiled by Dr. Kevin Clarke for Bruno Gmünder’s ‘Porn: From Andy Warhol to XTube,’ which led to ‘Gay Porn Heroes,’ his first book. He lives in Los Angeles, California.

Let's say you have an Aunt Tilly who is sweet, but cheap. Every Christmas she sends you a few dollars and tells you to "buy socks with the money," not realizing that five bucks won't buy hosiery for either sex. However, for around a buck right now at Smilin' A (12/2018), you can opt for sex, not socks, and buy FILTHY REMARKS either in paperback or e-book.

Among the 444 quotes in this whimsical Bruno Gmunder volume:

-- "Years ago, manhood was an opportunity for achievement, and now it is an obstacle to be overcome (Garrison Keillor)";
-- "Litigation takes the place of sex at middle age (Gore Vidal)";
-- "The difference between pornography and erotica is lighting (Gloria Leonard)"; and
-- "Everything in the world is about sex except sex. Sex is about power (Oscar Wilde)."

Now, I won't pretend this is a great book -- I could have used more quotes from women. For example, FILTHY REMARKS is chock-full of Woody Allenisms, but I have yet to find any bons mots from Erica Jong, whose Seventies novel FEAR OF FLYING fairly brims with sexually active aphorisms.

Nonetheless FILTHY REMARKS is a useful book, far more useful than joke books or compendia of quotes if all the reader needs are quotes about sex. Besides, it only costs a dollar! Cheaper even than a perverted phone call or a cup of coffee.

Verdict: buy the book and tell Aunt Tilly you misread her handwriting.
