The need for creativity has never been greater. In fact, we chose the title, Creativity Rising: Creative Thinking and Creative Problem Solving in the 21st Century, to reflect this belief. If we are to live healthy, productive lives in this century we must develop the mind-set and the skill set for effectively responding to and initiating change. Creativity Rising is both a why-to and how-to guide to help you create your own future. In this book we: explore the nature of creativity; debunk common myths about creativity ? describe the rapid rise of change in the 21st century; and outline the time-tested Creative Problem Solving process, an approach to on-demand creativity.
I found the early sections, looking at the processes of creative thinking, to be quite useful. Some of the later parts are probably useful, but I might need to have spent some time working through the ideas of the early sections before I'm ready to read them. As a pedagogical reading, useful for guiding my thinking for my teaching, but probably not guided enough for me to be sure that I'm putting the ideas in to practice in the right way. So, useful for informing practice and being the basis for reflection on my own performance. Probably useful if I read it again at some point, if I remember.
Super easy to read and can get tons of insights in one short reading. This is more like an executive summary only easier to learn from. The research is top-shelf and presentation is great. Loved this one.
