Rock Stars Do It #1

Rock Stars Do It Harder

Rate this book
***Rock Stars Do It Harder is the pilot story for a Big Girls spinoff-sequel series. It is best to read this after the Big Girls Do It books 1-5 to avoid major spoilers.***

Chase Delany is a rock star. Rock stars are expected to rock hard onstage and party even harder offstage. Chase is living up to those expectations, and then some. He leaves everything he's got onstage, and drowns the ache in his soul at the bottom of a tequila bottle. And then there are the girls. They throw themselves at him nonstop, a never-ending train of hot girls who want in his signature tight leather pants. The problem? Nothing, no amount of booze and no amount of backstage sex can heal the cracks in his heart left by Anna's rejection. And then he runs into Jamie. Anna's best friend. The one girl in the whole world who is off limits to him. The one girl who happens to be the one thing that seems to soothe the hurt inside him. Forgetting her proves to be impossible.

Jamie Dunleavy has always been an enthusiastic practitioner of the sexual arts. She's never apologized for it, and she owns it. She's been known to admit--to her best friend Anna Devine, at least--that she's a bit of a slut. Her deep, dark secret? She's tired of it. She doesn't want to be that girl anymore. She wants love, now more than ever, having watching Anna find her own happily-ever-after. So who does she find herself falling for? Chase Delany. Anna's very recent ex. A rockstar, and the one guy she knows she can't ever, ever be with. You don't bang your best friend's ex. You just don't. It's the one hard and fast rule of best friendship. Except, no matter how hard she tries to forget him, she can't seem to shake the image of his dark eyes and sexy tattoos and those lips she wants so badly to kiss and kiss until neither of them can breathe. She can't forget him, and she can't ever have him.

After Anna’s rejection, Chase finally starts to heal but they accidentally meet again in Vegas in Big Girls Do It Married. Rock Stars Do It Harder tells their encounter from Chase’s viewpoint, and his struggle to deal with the loss of her. He is broken, he is suffering, and it is obvious that his feelings for Anna are special. But when he meets Jamie, suddenly it grows pale compared to the emotions Jamie unleashes in him. This novella is the first part of Chase and Jamie’s story, after their first and only kiss in Vegas.
It was brief, but that one kiss had held more tantalizing pressure than Chase had ever felt. He’d been ripped apart by that kiss... Ten seconds of time, but he knew he was ruined for other women, other lips.

The story tells about their empty, sad, apathetic life without each other and longing for each other. They are both total messes emotionally, drowning in "a constant ocean of alcohol", having meaningless sex with strangers.

I didn’t like Chase much in the Big Girls Do It series, mainly because he was too hot and superficial, too 'rock star-ish', a delusion, a dream. Now, in Rock Stars Do It Harder, he becomes real. He has feelings and fears, he feels pain and despair and emptiness. He struggles and suffers.

As for the story, the blurb says it all, and Jamie and Chase’s torment and misery are perfectly worked out, as well as their soul-deep passion, carnal, magnetic, and devastating attraction for each other.

Of course there is no redemption in this novella. Jamie still abides by her unwritten rule not to be involved with her best friend’s ex. And Chase is still broken by breaking up with Anna, though he now feels maybe he has a chance to move on, as Jamie simply sweeps out every thought of Anna from his mind, leaving nothing else just herself to Chase to think about.

She wasn’t okay. She would never be okay as long as Chase Delany was alive and not hers.

My favorite quotes.

Four scorching hot stars

Rock Stars Do It Harder is the first book in the spin off series from Big Girls Do.... Chase is a rock star on the rise nursing a broken heart. He is beyond hot and oozes sex appeal from every pore of his body. There are a couple of menages in this book and believe me when I say his did not disappoint! Our naughty rocker takes on not one, not two, but three chicks in an all female band he's on tour with. I love a man that can "multitask" and Chase delivers in spades.

My biggest issue (because you know there's always one) is that despite their chemistry being off the charts, I'm still not sold on the developing relationship between Chase and Jamie, his ex's BFF. As many of you know having a group of girlfriends is kind of like fight club. The first rule of GF fight club - You never date a friend's ex. The second rule of GF fight club - You NEVER under ANY circumstances date a friend's ex! If the rules are broken bare knuckle cage fighting (complete with hair pulling and violent wardrobe malfunctions) is likely to occur. As for now, they are fighting their feelings, with only a couple stolen kisses between them; but at this heat index level they won't last long. So Jasinda is going to have to really work her sexy magic to get me on board.

Oh! Why o why?? I know this spin-off was attracting too many stars even 4 or 5 at that but his is just too much for me. I'm sorry. Chase, Cleo, Leah and Kylie?? and on the other hand, Jamie, Brad and Big Ben? Go figure!! Is this some kind of an orgy/threesome/foursome?? Oh God! The story? For me it was okay, has a good storyline but was too focused on sex. And, I just don't quite understand how in the world Jamie suddenly falls inlove with Chase and was in a not so good mood at that or was I not really tryin to understand what i am actually reading? Haha I hope the next book was way better than 2 chapters of group sex and a chapter of Jamie playing with herself while watching Chase perform right in the middle of a gig. Who would ever want to do that? Ahhh that's nasty. What in the world is going on!!!!! GAAAHHHH!!

I was surprised by this. I had read Big Girls Do It Better and hadn't really enjoyed it all.
And I'll be honest I didn't realize this was a spin off of the above mentioned.
But I really enjoyed it. I had preferred Chase over Anna any way & Jamie is so messed up I just want to give her a big hug and find her her HEA.
Will definitely continue on :)

Lawwwdy, these two are a complete hot mess as individuals, so naturally it makes sense that they’re likely perfect for each other.

Welllll...assuming they can work through their shiz and at the same time get the fuck outta their own way(s).

I found the tension between these two scrumptious, and it’s not just the obvi ‘bestie’s ex / ex’s bestie’ component, but more that they’re (finally) both growing and growing up, and hopefully, maybe, going to end up with the person they should be with??

Not quite sure what to make of this book. Maybe I will have to go back and read the series, but I'm a lazy reader - if it's not in front of me, I'm not going to hunt anything down. This book fell into my lap by way of a friend's Kindle. I read it because when you leave your Kindle in my grubby paws, I'm gonna go through it and totes judge you on your reading selection...just lettin' ya know. ;)

The author's writing style is fine and has a clear, precise voice. Sadly, I don't find the story/plotline very clear. I'm not too sure on Anna, the heroine. I'm not sure of Chase and his feelings, even though they are very neatly laid out. I just wasn't convinced - I felt it was a bit forced.

Maybe I'll ask my friend if she has these books and ask to borrow her kindle. I'm an iPad reader and I have to say I'm not going to drink the Kindle kool-aide any time soon.

I wish more authors used smashwords.com

On a final note - I dislike reading short stories. I prefer novels and the fact that this is not even a novella just really grates on my nerves.

If the other books in the series like this are short, I feel like the author keeps putting out short stories to keep the money rolling in. However, when there are people like me out there who have no qualms in plunking down $10-$15 for a 25,000+ word book, maybe it's an alternative that the author should consider...oh, and moving away from Kindle, too.

Oh my, poor Jamie Dunleavy (Anna's BFF & room mate in the Big Girls do it series) & Chase Delany, Rock God (Anna's ex from the Big Girls Do It series). What confussion & confliction they have. Is following your own feelings really the worst thing, no matter who you hurt. Most of the time I would say yes, but Anna chose Jeff & if they are realy as strong as they claim to be now, she should be happy for Jamie & Chase to be together.

That said, it is an unwritten law about ex's & BFF's hooking up isn't it? Or is it? How much should we be able to say when we were the 1 to create the situation in the first place. If Anna had really liked Chase then she wouldn't have hooked up with Jeff as soon as she did. So Anna should be able to support Jamie, knowing how hard it is for her & what a troubled life she has had.

Don't take love so lightly, the real thing isn't always easy to find & I'm hoping Jamie & Chase find it with each other, enough with the pain. This is going to be tricky navigating this, but can't wait to see how the author does this. Hoping all turns out, about time Chase ends up happy, what a sex god.

After the final blow of Anna choosing Jeff, Chase had a choice, move on or slowly feel his heart rot away until he couldn't feel any more. How could Chase fill the void? Meaningless trysts with unnamed faces fuelled by alcoholic binges?

Anna unknowingly throws her BFF to the lions when she hands the back stage pass to Jamie. An impromptu kiss leaves Jamie lost and confused. Is this her turning point? Can she leave her lifestyle behind her and seek something more? Can she forget the kiss and forget Chase?

The real question is can Chase forget Jamie. Is there a release clause in the BFF handbook that could allow Jamie to follow her heart and chase her Rockstar?

This is a follow on series to Jasinda Wilder's Big Girl series. The Rockstar series will make a hell of a lot more sense if you read Big Girls first.

Rockstars is full of Jasinda's usual lust, angst and hot passionate sex. If your a fan of Jasinda's work you won't be disappointed!!!

Chase is trying to get over Anna, and move past her. Seeing her in Vegas brought up a lot of mixed emotion, then meeting with her best-friend Jamie things go to far and he kisses her. Afraid of what it might mean Jamie ran and went home to try and forget. Meanwhile Chase's trying to forget included a three-some with a hard-rock female band he met in Vegas but now instead of thinking of Anna his mind goes to Jamie and their surprised kiss.

Jamie tries to forget as well and wakes up from a drunken stupor having sex with a stranger and is surprised to find a second man with them. She runs home and calls Anna who basically scolds her for breaking her celibacy vow she made Jamie promise in Vegas. Jamie though is too upset about Chase to really open up to Anna of why she did what she did. Rather than comforting her further, Anna leaves Jamie alone to work out her problems.

When some other friends of Jamie finally get her to party with them and she sees Chase's band at the bar they go to. Chase tries to get physical with Jamie who once again runs because she's afraid of upsetting Anna if she gets with Chase, regardless of how she feels about him. Chase not wanting to break up a good friendship watches as Jamie runs, again into the night, away from him.

Nothing gets resolved in this story, it seems like a quick way to introduce a new relationship problem...but two familiar characters.

Yeahh, this was gross. Lol I don't know how to explain it. I skimmed pretty much all of the sex scenes. Like, the one where the curvaceous black haired girl, literally rode him and then left him? So weird. And was the foursome scene with Chase supposed to be sexy? It was very detailed and I don't know, not sexy. And the threesome with Jamie, yikes guys, that read more like assault than anything. She was way too far gone to be having sex. That scene was definitely not meant to be sexy.

The author did a great job showing that they are both in very dark places, Jamie's darker than Chases tbh. I skimmed through most of this one. I'm not sure I'll like the Rockstar part of the Big Girl Do It series. Chase hasn't done it for me since book one. And he only did something for me because he sounded genuine and like he wanted more with Anna, but this book he says that he was only looking for a hookup when he gave Anna his card and then it took sex with her for him to want something different. Which just makes my tummy ache, like she wasn't enough on her own, but her innocence about her sex appeal was what changed his mind. A bit dark.

So far I'm not routing for a Jamie and Chase relationship, I'm routing for therapy. Extensive therapy and AA meetings for both.

Now we're talking! Chase was my favorite part of the "Big Girls Do It..." series, so I am SO happy he is getting these focus in this sub-series. He's hot and dreamy and so intense. Total book boyfriend material.

Meh. I don't know why I read all 3 other than chalk it up to my "need to know what happens" part of my brain. I don't know if this was an early work but it seemed like it to me.

Would I read again? Noooope. I know I skimmed parts of all 3.

Chase and Jamie are live in the moment types and they do not always make the best choices. I am giving the rating an extra star because it is exactly what the story meant to be ... an erotica, keeping two people apart until the third story (note there are three books in this series and the happy ending is not in this book). But I did not like this book. I don't like either Chase or Jamie as people, nor did I like the plot nor scenes within the book. But the book itself is a solid piece of writing by Ms. Wilder.

I really hated the parallel of both Jamie and Chase sleeping around after falling in love instantly and realizing they couldn't be together (for reasonable causes - maybe the best logic in the whole story). In Chase's side, he has sex with three women at a time. He manages to give them all a climax, but it didn't make him happy. He did this while drunk, and during the afterglow one of the women takes him aside and talks him through his issues. By the way the women play with his "taint" and there are no issues. On Jamie's side she wakes up mid-act with two men because she was blind drunk (instead of happy drunk like Chase), and when one of the guys attempts anal sex it is absolutely a no. Chase has sex with three women he finds attractive if not his type; Jamie has sex with two drug dealing losers. One talks to her afterwards and helps her get home.

She goes home to throw up, call herself a slut, and wallow in self-despair. Chase goes back to work and writes another song. Now these are both real people, but I have an extreme dislike of the man having great multiple partner sex with no guilt and the woman being a slut for doing the same exact thing. I know this is how society views it, and the writer needed to change up the circumstances between the two acts. I just got really, really annoyed - this harshed my fantasy romance reading.

Also the fact the characters both had to get drunk and needed multiple partners outside of the core romance is annoying. On the other hand I know people are like this - I just don't want to hang out with them for three books and pay my money for their company.

As for the plot - it is more like scene following scene than a journey of romance. The couple is together only for the instant flash of love and spend the rest of the book apart making bad decisions.

Picked up while free on Kindle.

CHASE DELANEY "BEFORE BROKE UP" WITH ANNA">

THIS ONE "AFTER ANNA"

Still breathtakingly beautiful...but there's something "wrong" with Chase after Anna

Agak eneg baca nya soalnya aku tau Chase waktu sama Anna gak se-dirty Chase after Anna...bah!

Kalo gw jadi Anna, gw sujud syukur deh dapet abang Jeff nan menawan, setia dan penyabar dan penyayang dan HOT !!!!

Jadi, kejadiannya sebelum "lagu yang menyayat hati ituuuuu" (tadinya gw kasian sama Chase (Book 5 Big Girls), tenyata oh ternyata, Chase abis colokan sama cewek, di suppLy sama Gage temennya, buat sejenak melupakan Anna
Yah walopun Anna jelas2 gak cinta sama dia (Baca: Cuma Napsu sesaat)
... bukan berarti Chase yang katanya cinta mampus sama Anna bisa main colok cewek sembarangan aja kaaaaaaan???????

HUH !!! DASAR COWOK MURAHAN!!!

Lhooo kok gw yg emosi jiwa jadinya...
Abis, gimana yaaaaa...Chase asli deh termasuk segolongan cowok2 yang TIDAK TEGUH BERIMAN

Mbok ya patah hati dulu kek selama....hmmm...2 tahun ato 20 tahun.....hihihihihihihi....... *kejadian yg gak mungkin*

Sementara si Jamie, juga kalah bitchy nya...!! Chase foursome....Jamie juga sum2an dengan cowok2 yang tampang nya gak jelas gitu !!!

That is why , I think they were made for each other !!!

Tapiiiii...NOT IN THIS BOOK GUYS!!!

LANJOOOUT BUKU 2 YUUUUKSSSSS

I loved this story.

When I started reading the Big Girls Do It...series I loved Chase. I was kind of pissed that Anna ran out on him. I so wanted them to stay together, but after reading Chase's story, I'm so glad he found Jamie.

The love he had for Jamie can't compare to the love he had for Anna. Chase and Jamie were made for each other. She totally gave him exactly what he wanted and needed, and he gave her the same.

There love was so passionate, and strong. It was a beautiful love. They needed that love to survive.

They both try to avoid each other, and both tried to forget and not feel that love, but it over powered everything they tried to do not to be with each other. Once they gave in to that love, neither would be able to live with out the other. They wouldn't survive.

Everything about their relationship was so strong a filled with passion. The way they made love, it was like the craved each other to the point that their need to be together and to make love was desperation.

I love Jasinda books, she writes with a passion, with heart and soul. I also loved that the pretty, handsome, gorgeous guy went for plus size girl. I loved that because not all of us look like models, or are perfect, and it seems like most books always make the girl be gorgeous. This story was a bit more realistic to me.

Thank you Jasinda for another amazing story.

As a spin off from the Big Girls series, this book picks up with Chase. He's hurt and broken hearted from Anna's final decision to marry Jeff. Until he runs into Jaime and from their first kiss, there's a spark of something much deeper than what he thought was love with Anna. But unfortunately for him, Jaime is Anna's best friend and ex-roommate and she doesn't want to cross the line by being with Anna's ex.

This was a bit better than the last two installments in my opinion. I'm irritated with Anna's yoyoing emotions and am glad to see the focus on her friend, Jaime. The girl is a hot mess with self-esteem issues she expresses in the complete opposite way of Anna and having sex with anyone she deems attractive.

Chase and Jaime's attraction is a breath of fresh air and maybe this tension is more welcome because it feels like a more natural thing than what was happening in the previous book. However, I still found it a little hard to believe that someone could be that into another person that fast and with that little bit of interaction. The interludes are what one has come to expect of Wilder, but if you're hoping for something longer than a short story, you'll be sorely disappointed. You'll have to look on to part two to continue off the cliffhanger that awaits on the final page.

I liked Chase throughout the 'Big Girls' series although I didn't quite get his attraction to Anna, not because of her larger size but because of her shit personality, let alone his 'love' for her which was a little instalove for me BUT I really liked him!
SEXY, HOT rocker with some serious skills! MMMMM!!!
I liked Jamie too, she was a straight up chick who had a good heart.
I definitely connected with the characters in this series better and their development seemed less rushed. I liked the chemistry between Chase and Jamie. Liked the concern that Jamie showed towards Chase even back when Anna was playing her games.

I don't think there is anything wrong with Chase and Jamie being together it's not like Chase dumped Anna, Jamie's not breaking any best friend code of conduct! All their angst etc has been for nothing cos who gives a shit if Anna might feel uncomfortable, fuck Anna! Didn't see her considering her friend Jeff when she went from his bed to Chase's! Luckily Jamie is a considerate friend, to her own detriment! I hope they get it on and quick! Chase and Jamie are great together!

Jamie is a character I relate to well. Sloppy, drunk sex, morning-after regret, self-loathing while putting on a brave face because big girls have to be extra confident. I wish she didn’t slut-shame herself as much as she did. Sex is sex after all.
And complicated love? Check.
Chase breaks my heart. His emotions are so raw and open, especially when he sees his ex in the audience at his show. I like it when writers show their male characters experiencing hard emotions and not having them be stoic. And Chase is numb.
Enter Jamie. His ex’s best friend, loyal to a fault best friend.
Jamie’s conflict was beautifully written, her emotional rollercoaster and guilt were very real emotions that leaped off the page right into your heart.
The sex is hot. Descriptive in physicality and emotional impact for Jamie and Chase. The emptiness they felt because they weren’t with each other, the unsatiated physical aspect because they weren’t together.
This was another aspect I enjoyed. Often the male character sleeps around before making a commitment but it’s both in this book. And it’s clear they are trying to find in others what they can’t have together. It’s bittersweet and authentic.

Another Explosive book from Jasinda Wilder. I was SO happy to get some more time with Chase :D So Anna has broken his heart at the Concert, again and he is falling farther down the hole of self despair until Jamie comes to check on him. The Sparks are flying and its palpable in the air. The Kiss. Its unavoidabble. Theses guys have something and its something great. But Anna is Jamie's BFF and she wont do that to her even if every fiber of her being wants to.

This book is HOTT, So hot it deserves the extra T. Kisses, threesomes, and Blackouts, Oh My!

Jamie and Chase are fighting what they feel for each other. She just cant seem to see that sometimes rules are meant to be broken. Its a tough situation but you can't ignore the hotness between them. I can't wait to see where this story goes. No doubt Jasinda will work her magic and cause a love explosion in the coming book :D I can't wait to read it :D

I was given a copy of this book by the author for an honest review.

OMGI loved this book. It is a very quick but hawt read. Chase is one naughty boy who is so caught up in his heartache for Anna he is blindsided by a quick and passionate kiss with her best friend Jamie. The book is about the 2 of them trying to ignore the passion they are feeling because if the Anna issue. It was hawt how Chase dealt with it while Jamie and 'Big Ben" not so much but kinda funny!!!

I think this book did a great job getting Jamie and Chase all kindas of confused about what they want with the other person. I love the ending and the set up for book 2!! CANNOT WAIT!!

Chase Wilder is my dream man and am stoked he gets his own spin off series. After reading "Big Girls Do It" series I was straight onto this to find out how Chase deals with Anna choosing Jeff *sob*

Chase, after losing Anna turns to music and decides to stay away from the ladies that is until Jamie, Anna's BFF walks into his dressing room. She appears after seeing the heartache clear in Chase's eyes, but he realizes Jamie is beautiful and for once isn't thinking of Anna.

They share a brief, smoldering, life altering kiss but they can't be together and this makes is worse....or can they...

Loved Jasinda's writing and Chase is as delicious as ever...such a short story, my heart aches for the next book :)
