Gothic outcast Natalie Sugarman bartered her soul for her dying mother’s life sixteen years ago to a boy demon that could stop time. Now, days before her twenty-first birthday, the lifelines on her palms are slowly vanishing, and she knows it’s just a matter of time before Satan’s little helper collects.

Natalie's tried numerous times to kill the demon and regain control of her soul’s destiny, but she always falls short. When she decides to try and gain the element of surprise for her next attempt, Natalie seeks answers about his location from a freaky, glowing-eyed fortuneteller. Creeped out by the psychic’s methods, she bolts from the reading and misses the warning that the demon who stole her soul is always closer than she thinks.

After some strange incidents with her new boyfriend, including a hot, levitating sex session, she realizes he’s the grown-up version of her little nightmare and he’s returned to collect on their deal. Natalie must figure out how to win her soul back from the demon before her lifeline completely disappears and she becomes his forever—even if that means making a deal to damn three other souls to take her place.

I guess I can't complain too much since this was a kindle freebie but I seem to be in the minority here. The writing seemed very juvenile and I had numerous eye rolling moments.

Yes! But apparently it was a no....

Natalie apparently bartered her soul to a demon in exchange for her mother's life when she was a child. She is currently attending college. She thinks the demon is coming for her on her 21st birthday.

She is freaked out waiting for this demon to arrive. She is currently sleeping with Stewart who is a preppy boy that lives next door and he wants to keep their relationship a "secret"

She decides she no longer wants to be a secret and dumps him. And then magically, Rick Steele the gray eyed creepy hunk, shows up at her school.

He winds up everywhere that Natalie is and saves her a few times too. She enjoys trying to make Stewart jealous with Rick. Rick likes her and she says

She falls for him quickly (insta-love)

and then decides to give up the snatch to him....

Holy crap you guys, someone must have switched my book for another cuz I most def didn't read the same book as y'all. I read the first chapter in the back of Rock the Heart, which was good, and I liked the whole concept of the book. I then read the next 3 chapters on her website. From reading the first 4 chapters I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. It didn't really pop for me you know. Well then it came out early and I was like yay!! And then I read it I was like boooo!! First off the blurb lied. Like big time lied. There is no sex in this book. NONE!! She humps him, with clothes on, until she comes and that is it. What the fuck? It all just keeps going down hill. She agrees to some shady shit and then it was all pointless in the end. Seriously really let down. And from what I gathered at the end there will be a next book. No thank you. Seriously this book was some terrible stuff. Stew, holy shit. If I could ever hit someone in the face it would be him and Nat at the same time. I'd line them up right next to each other get my midget to put baby powder on my hands and then I'd double slap the shit out of them. She is so stupid for pinning after that asshole. Okay I'm done. Did not like this book, will not read book 2 and will now make my usual hooker joke. To say I was disappointed would be like saying a hooker was unhappy with giving a blow job for $5. A huge understatement.

So I'm clearly in the minority here, but this book just doesn't do it for me. I admit I was torn between 2 and 3 stars, but while this book isn't as bad as the others I've rated at 2 stars it just didn't do enough for me to give it the 3rd star.

Altogether I'm confused by the marketing for this book in the first place. I came across it as part of the YA group I'm a part of's scavenger hunt, but the description, and frankly the cover, pitch the book as for adults. The YA group is right. This is not written for an adult audience. The writing is super simplistic. I read paranormal romance like it's my bread and butter. This is nowhere on par with the books I love in that genre. The writing style doesn't come close to someone like J.R. Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Gena Showalter, or Christine Feehan to name a few. I struggled to get through and finish the book.

To the book itself. First of all their is no character development. We're dropped smack into a world where relationships are established. I never understood why Stew was interested in her, or what Natalie saw in Stew. We tried to develop something with Rick, but even when Natalie asks him what he sees in her it's all generic, you're so amazing, you're beautiful. Really? Cause I've seen nothing about her that is so interesting other than a general interest in art that we get a glossing over and no in depth knowledge of. So she's had a hard life being thought of as crazy. We've seen none of that. Every person we've seen her deal with directly has treated her fairly normally. Only in the general and abstract are we told that people have always treated her different.

Let's not even mention the ending...

While I wasn't left with any unanswered questions or huge plot holes everything seemed very pat and unbelievably cut and dried. The love triangle just got on my nerves because while I wanted to like Rick he never came across as that special and I just wanted to slap Stew 9 times out of 10. Natalie, well she was ok, but for a heroine I wanted more bad ass I won't do that, not going to cross that line. Do something about your life, especially when you found out that not everyone thinks your crazy even if they don't like to admit it. You're handed another, admittedly difficult and quite possibly impossible option to save your soul and it doesn't even warrant a second thought. Let's just go finish the life taking we've started, doesn't even cross our mind that Rick could be lying to us and that taking those lives potentially could just make us the demon faster. Now granted that's not what the author wrote, but it was the first thing through my mind and it doesn't even occur to Natalie. Let alone that a sword from heaven and killing the guy who we made the deal with sounds a lot more believable and likely to do the job than taking three other lives. Nope instead we're going to go on believing everything that someone else tells us and build on our "feelings" that draw us towards two different guys until we can' separate them in our minds. Whatever the one we're currently talking to tell us that must be that absolute truth. A heroine should stand on her own.

I’m a fan of paranormal to begin with so when Michelle announced she was releasing her new adult paranormal Demon At My Door excited was an understatement; I was happy as the Geico piggy!

I had the honor of being a beta reader and I knew from page one this was going to be a good one. Demon At My Door isn’t your typical paranormal; yes, there’s Demons in it but there’s also secrets, mystery, romance and one helluva love triangle!!!

The story revolves around Natalie Sugarman, who at 5 yrs old makes a deal with a demon in order to save her mother’s life and the lasting after effects of that decision. The deal pretty much entails the demon coming back for her once she turns 21 and Nat’s hell bent on getting out of this predicament she got herself in by any means necessary...she's not letting any demon come for her

glee - mercedes oh hell to the no. photo glee-mercedesohhelltotheno.gif

I truly loved Natalie; she had a sense of humor and was fluent in sarcasm and snark (which I relate so well to!) and I found her inner thoughts in regards to the demon boy hilarious especially all the names she had for him. She rarely used the same nickname for him twice lol…but Nat was also self depreciating, vulnerable and lonely deep down. One of the after effects of her deal was the continued appearance of the demon freak which understandably, would cause her to freak out, usually in public garnering her the reputation of the towns certifiable nutcase and people went out of their way to make her feel unwanted and unwelcomed. This is where I felt for her, Michelle has this ability to really make you feel the emotions of her characters, you feel Natalie’s loneliness and sadness and her longing to be accepted.
She finally thinks she’s going to get her chance at acceptance when she and her next door neighbor and friend Mr. Popular Stewart start seeing each other (don’t get me started on Stew, I’ll be here forever but I knew from the start he’d be a dick of magnum proportions, no pun intended)

no words. i hate you photo 1057.gif

I didn’t start to enjoy Stew being around until...Rick Steele entered the picture...Two words for Rick

Rick is tall, good looking and mysterious and a pain in Stew’s rear from the word go! Don’t get me wrong Stewart is good looking too but not like Rick; Rick is tattooed, dark and mysterious with just a hint of danger but also a romantical sweetheart!!! I loved every second Stew spent jealous of Rick! Natalie finds herself being drawn to both of them, one for reasons she can justify and one for reasons she just can’t quite pinpoint. I really enjoyed the twists and turns thru the whole story and uncovering who’s who and who is and isn’t who or what you thought they were and Michelle does a fabulous job at keeping you guessing and entertaining you. I’m really looking forward to a second book because although we do get an ending there is so much more I’d love to read about with these characters!!!

Michelle's shown what a talent for writing she's got being able to go from erotica to new adult flawlessly!

When I first head about Michelle's Demon At My Door my first thoughts were...........................................................

I know scary, huh? But you know what for a girl who is very particular about paranmoral reads I FREAKING loved this book! We are introduced to son to be twenty one years of age, Natalie. See Natalie made a deal with a Demon when she was 5 years old in exchange for her mother's life. Well that exhange will cost her but will it cost her everything? Hmmmmmmm!!!!

Natalie has been known around town as cray cray for her description of the 5 year old demonic boy that she sees that collect souls. She has no friends and imagine her surprise when the gorgeous college quarterback and next door neighbor Stewart "Stew" Masterson takes interest in her and not folks he is not..........................................

Well after a few very heavy sessions like this........................

Natalie starts pushing Stew to make their "relationship" public and not the "secret" he has been keeping. Stew refuses to do so which angers Natalie and she tells him that's they are over. Yep, things always work that way don't they but what happens when a freaking tattooed hotty with shoulder length brown hair and gray eyes appears at campus? Rick is the epitome of the gorgeous looking bad boy oh yes, I'm...........

Rick immediately takes an interest in Natalie and they become friends. But there is more to Rick than meets the eye. Oh Stew, remember him, yes he isn't "over" Nat at all in fact he is quite jealous. Nat has bigger problems though she only has several days before she turns 21 and she has to exchange her soul and follow through with the deal she made.

Well ladies let me tell you I loved this book! I hated how Natalie was treated by everyone and there were times I wanted to do this to Stew..

and Rick oh boy well when things are revealed that Rick had been trying to keep and secret I was left................................

but the reason why he was keeping this secret and a "past" that he was wanting ............. well I really was..............................

Yes folks I was doing that and I wanted to see if there was truly a way out for Nat but I can't tell you that you will have to read this one for yourself! You can go from......................................

to wanting to experience..........................................

and then when you get to the end I want you to join me in doing this...

I recommend you read this one NOW! I'm serious about the paranormal I can now count on one hand how many "paranormal" books I've read in the last year which shows you how extremely picky I am when it comes to that genre and I thought Demon At My Door was FAN-FREAKING-Tastic!!!!

This was so a 5 star read for me and I want MORE of this from Michelle. I would love to see what happens next and I would really love to explore that "levitation" a little more :) Awesome book Michelle simply Awesome!!!!

I haven’t read a paranormal in a while so to say I was in my element here is an understatement. I really thoroughly enjoyed this story. It had just the right balance for me. I love my hot demons and this one definitely had one of those.

The beginning felt a bit slow but once it took off I was hooked and didn’t put it down until I had finished it. The writing was spot on and the characters and story line intriguing. There were enough twists and turns to keep me guessing and when I thought I had it figured out something was thrown at me leaving me back at square one.

This story is primarily about Natalie who made a deal with a demon many years ago to save the life of her mother. Since then she has had to deal with consequences out of her control waiting for the day the demon that marked her soul finally comes to claim her.

Natalie is a beautiful yet unpopular girl who just wants normality. She hides behind a veil of black shunned by the student population. That is until Stewart and Rick happen. These two guys bring the change in her life, the beginning and ultimately the end.

Stewart and Rick are like night and day. Stewart being the gorgeous golden guy, part of the popular and untouchable crew at school whereas new guy Rick is the hot tattooed bad arse with a loving heart. I LOVED him!

Natalie has an attraction to both but one has a stronger pull on her for reasons she slowly uncovers.

It is hard not to give anything away, however, what I will say is that this story, aside for the demon aspect, has a real love story a love triangle and it is interwoven with drama, suspense, love and passion.

I am guessing that there will hopefully be a book #2 as despite there being a satisfactory ending there seems to be so much more to come. I hope that is not wishful thinking on my part.

I know Michelle Valentine by her fabulous Black Falcon series. So imagine my surprise when she reached out to bloggers for reviews on her paranormal book. Let me tell you, Michelle can a demon just as well as she can a rocker.

Natalie Sugarman knows she's living on borrowed time. After bartering her soul with a little demon boy to save her mother's life, she knows with her approaching twenty-first birthday everything is about to change. What she doesn't understand are the images the little demon boy keeps sending her each time their paths cross. What she doesn't realize is the new guy at school, the one who isn't turned off by her freakishness and likes her for who she is, is so much more than she could have ever imagined.

I loved the story. I loved how a five year old girl battered for her mother's life. I loved how Rick Steele showed Natalie how she was so much more than the freaky goth girl everyone thought she was and she should be no one's dirty little secret. But most of all, I loved the story of how Rick became what he was and what he's done all in the name of true love.

I'm interested to see what could happen next. It was left with an ending the begs for a second book (or maybe more). You can't leave us wondering what will happen with Natalie and Rick. What Stew finds as he goes off in search of his mother. And more importantly, what is going to happen with Lilim now that Rick and Natalie are together. Inquiring minds want to know! Hopefully Michelle Valentines hears my pleas and gives us some more Demon books.

If you haven't figured it out, I’m hitting my head on the keyboard at this moment. I am going to now rant and rave about another VIRGIN unrealistic protagonist lead female AGAIN. What I think this makes the 6th in a row now, I am so annoyed that I cannot see through the sea of VIRGINS any more. The setting was supposed to have adult themes to it.... Really? I find that as a falsehood for its description.

Here the lead knows that within weeks her soul will be taken and yet she still holds on to her virginity like it's a badge of honor and not as an event that she will never get to experience EVER. Really, still a virgin? Is that really what one would be at that stage of their life? Geesh, I hate uncharacteristic characters. The girl is 21 but the book seems to be written for a preteen audience. I really tried to like this one and really tried to get past it since I love the author's other works... But at chapter 20, I found my irritation level beyond repairable to like this book. I gave this a two star because there is no second book.... OR IS THERE (I have already seen the title with a second book here at Goodreads-ERG)?

I'm not really sure how I feel about this book...on one hand it was surprisingly well written and well EDITED for an Indy Author. I read a lot of Indy Authors and most have glaring editorial mistakes some where in the book but I honestly don't recall any here. The book itself is a very interesting concept and for the most point well executed. My issue lay in the story line...for instance miss popular cheerleader with the voodoo grandma was a pointless character from the supernatural standpoint. Also, everyone in this book acted like a bunch of teens in high school, not adults in college...I mean seriously, who sneaks in to the girls bath room to smoke in college. That is so high school it's actually annoyingly clique. Finally the ending left me with no closure what-so-ever...it just kinda stops and with a bad tag line no less...

I loved this so much that I didn't want to reach the last page.
I haven't read a paranormal romance in a while. This story just reminds me of why I love the genre so much. The unexpected can and will happen and I love that! It stretches our imaginations to the limit and this does not disappoint. Demon at My Door was a breath of fresh air and I was sucked in right from the beginning. I will definitely be reading the next book!

A paranormal read filled with surprises, twist, and a swoonworthy, tattooed, hot mystery!

A deal with a demon, yep that's what the main character in this book deals with. Natalie, at just five years old make a deal after seeing her mother choking on lunch. As the demon comes to take her soul, Natalie bargains with him. Yes, she's all of five, and so is the demon. So they make a deal, her soul for her mothers, when she turns twenty-one. Years past and the little demonic devil is still at it. Stealing souls, and having Natalie witness the death and soul stealing. Living with the notion of what she see's and deals with, makes her appear crazy in everyone's eyes. She has to see a shrink to deal with her "imaginative mind" because of course no one believes her plight.

Fast forward to her being twenty and her twenty first birthday quickly approaching, she knows she is doomed to having to give up her life, but not before she decides to live it a little. She has a summer fling-without the sex with her cute, popular, neighbor. Stew is a childhood friend whom knows all about her demonic secrets. He likes Nat, but he doesn't want to tell the world about her. Keeping their relationship a secret from everyone. especially his dad, who forbade them to be together. So they see each other in a treehouse in the yard, but having a secret relationship doesn't sit well with Natalie and she wants to tell everyone they are together. Of course, he doesn't cave, not wanting to ruin his popularity. Natalie is not popular as she is known as a crazy demon loving dressed in all black, and shunned from the "it" crowd girl. As things can't get any worse, little demon comes around and wants the 411 on Stew. Natalie doesn't want to divulge anything to the little monster, in fear of him going after Stew. So she basically protects him, although little demon knows their is something more to it. He warns her that she is his and his alone, and it seems like he is not going to let anyone get in the way of him owning her in less than a year.

At the start of school, college life seems to be a carbon copy for Nat. Some of the same kids who attended high school are now in college with her and as things couldn't get any worse. Stew and the rest of the "it" crowd from High School are now in college with her. When things seem to be harder than ever for Nat, a mysterious, sexy, boy walks into her life and basically accepts everything about her, and saves her from a brutal assault, and seems to "get her". Rick is a girls dream, yes he is a bad boy, but he is romantic, opens doors for her and basically sweeps her off her feet! Of course this doesn't sit well with Stew as he becomes jealous of Rick and Nat being together. Nat seems to be drawn to both these guys, and a slight love triangle is formed .If things can't seem to get any worse, time is slowly slipping between her fingers and she fears the end is near.

Without spoiling the rest, I can say I enjoyed Demon At My Door. The plot flowed well, I enjoyed the characters, liked the mystery and of course having a sexy, bad boy added to the mix didn't hurt. The only thing I felt was a little off was the way the book felt more of a YA read, Nat seemed to have a voice of a sixteen year old instead of a twenty year old. I also had a slight issue on how quickly she jumps into the arms of Rick, after being "in love" with Stew. But, these are slight issues and overall I did like Michelle's writing and will continue reading more from this author.

Review posted on Hesperia Loves Books

After falling in love with Ms. Valentine’s Black Falcon series, I jumped at the chance I was given, to read this newest book of hers. Demon At My Door was a great introduction for her, into the Paranormal Romance genre. The story concept was unique and refreshing and the character development revealed just enough to keep us turning the pages and wanting more.

Natalie sold her soul when she was 5 years old, to save her mother. After years of psychiatric visits, mental illness diagnoses, being shunned by kids at school and her parents; Natalie hides within herself. She never lets anyone see the real her; which she admittedly doesn’t even recognize anymore. She has come to terms with, what she believes will be her death, on her 21st birthday. What I love about Natalie is her fierceness and her never quit attitude. She wants to protect those she loves, at all costs, from the demon that she has grown to hate. And, even though she has no doubt that she will die, she continues to fight, until the very end, for the life she’s never had a chance to live.

Rick is a demon, but not by choice. If he could go back and change the circumstances of why he was turned he would; that would allow him to live the life he’d dreamed of. Instead, he has to settle with the hand he was dealt and the who, what, when & why of that, was one of the best parts of this book. Rick’s character was enigmatic and intriguing. From the start I knew he would be integral to the story. Several aspects I guessed right off, but others, totally blindsided me ;) For me, what made Rick’s character so fabulous, was the love and confidence that he helped Natalie find. She was just a shell of a person, who was constantly on guard when they met. With his help, she breaks that shell and becomes the woman she always wanted to be.

While I loved most everything about this book, there were aspects that caused me not to rate it higher. Even though this should be considered a New Adult genre book, since the characters were in college, it read more like a YA. With all of the sexual tension between Natalie & Rick, I wanted to be shown more of a connection between them. The heat was there, just very mild. My other issues with the book concern the editing. There were several scenes that I felt were unnecessary to the overall storyline, some scenes that were very redundant and quite a few grammatical errors throughout. I had to re-read passages and, in the end, the book felt longer than it actually was.

Overall, I really enjoyed being immersed in Natalie’s world. After the ending, I hope that we get a 2nd book; Ms. Valentine has laid the groundwork for an exceptional series. Lovers of Paranormal Romance will definitely want to add this one to their TBR list!

Amazeballs!!!! That is what my exact thoughts are at this moment. I took a break away from my bad boy rockers and went back to my first love.... Paranormal romance! Reading Demon At My Door by Michelle Valentine was like an old married couple renewing their marriage vows. It reminded me why I fell in love with the paranormal genre to begin with. It has action, suspense, love, oh and ..... Demons!!

At first I was thinking... "Ok, has it been too long since I read a paranormal romance and am having a hard time getting back into the genre???" That entire thought process was smashed as soon as Rick came into Natalie's life!

Natalie is an outcast and has been since she was a young child because of her relationship with a demon boy. The entire town believed she was legally crazy and her demon talk was proof she needed meds, therapy, and whatever other reasons they could find to support their crazy girl label. Natalie believes her soul has been claimed by a demon boy because she made a deal with him when she was 5 years old to save her mom from an untimely death. Is Natalie cray cray or has she indeed promised her soul to a demon????

The characters in Demon At My Door grab a hold of you and suck you into their world. Natalie is a closet social butterfly who has had to learn the hard way how it feels to be an outcast by her family, friends, and pretty much entire town. She fell for the town's golden boy, Stew, and is forced to either have a secret relationship in a barn and behind closed doors and stand up for herself and possibly never find love. I found myself wanting to jump into the book and punch Stew in his cowardly throat! I felt badly for him for having an over-bearing father, but he was an ass and if Natalie didn't punish him or give him a good tongue lashing, I wanted to!! Natalie's parent had a rocky marriage full of secrets and and her mom felt Natalie's mental instability reflected negatively on her parenting abilities. My heart broke for Natalie and I was rooting or her to find a happy ending.

Enter Rick.... *sigh*..... Was Rick a newcomer to town, or was there a history there that we didn't know about yet???? Those are questions I found myself wondering the first 75% of this book!! I wanted Natalie to forget Stew even existed and throw herself into Rick's world. I was rooting for Natalie and Rick from the second his little black sports car cut her off in the campus parking lot. Let's just say that Rick is M-E-O-W and you need to read this book STAT!!

Demon At My Door is a solid 5 stars.... A MUST read if you like paranormal romance.... And a book that I can only hope Michelle Valentine makes into a series! I need book 2 like yesterday!! Great job Michelle, once again you knock my socks off with your talent!!

Really enjoyed this book and for some crazy reason I love her little demon boy. How crazy he's waited for hundreds of years and us following her soul to be with her. I really enjoyed this book. Natalie Sugarman sold her soul years ago when she was little to save her mom. Now at 21 years old that debt is coming due. Will she find a way to save her soul? Does she decide to be one of Satan’s helpers? I liked that there is more books in this series and I am excited to learn more about these characters as they grow in the series.

Natalie was five years old when she sold her soul to a demon in order to save her mother's life, she didn't understand what she was really giving up but that isn't going to stop the demon from collecting his payment when she reaches her 21st birthday. Ever since she told people about the demon she has been treated as a crazy outcast by her family and by people at school. Her friends turned their backs on her and now she lives a very lonely life. Over the summer she has been dating her ex-friend and neighbour Stew but now they are back at college he is refusing to publicly acknowledge their relationship and Natalie feels more alone than ever. That is until new boy Rick comes onto the scene and takes an immediate interest in her completley ignoring the warnings to stay away from the crazy girl. She grows closer to Rick but her birthday is fast approaching and she has very little time left. Natalie is desperate to find a way to win back her soul but will the demon be prepared to make a new bargain?

I really enjoyed Michelle A Valentine's debut Rock the Heart so when I heard she was publishing a paranormal romance I couldn't wait to read it. Demon at my Door is the first book in a new series and is aimed at the new adult market. With the new adult label I have to say I was expecting a higher sexual content than it included, apart from one particular (very hot!) heavy petting scene this really read more like a young adult book. The main character Natalie is 20 but I felt she acted like she was much younger than that and I would have found it more believable if she had been around 16 and at school rather than college.

I'll admit that I wasn't too sure at the beginning of the book whether I was going to enjoy it, it took me a long time to warm to Natalie and I couldn't stand Stew from the very beginning. I hated Stew for the way he treated her but I was almost as annoyed at Natalie for letting him get away with it. Thankfully as the story progressed and I learnt more about her past I started to understand why Natalie acted the way she did, I still didn't agree with what she was doing but it made sense that she would behave like that. I'll never be a fan of Stew but I even came to understand him better by the end of the book. The story definitely picked up for me the moment Rick walked onto the page, I loved him from the beginning and he certainly provided plenty of swoon worthy moments! Rick gives off a bad boy vibe without actually acting like a bad boy, from the very beginning he is protective of Natalie and he is such a good friend to her even while it is obvious that he is interested in so much more. I found it hard to see why Natalie would still be pining over Stew when she had the gorgeous Rick on the scene but then again first love is a very tricky thing! Even when it became clear that Rick had a few secrets that he was keeping I was still firmly on his team.

One thing that I feel I have to mention is the editing, this book could have been so much more enjoyable to read if there hadn't been so many mistakes. If I'd been reading a print copy rather than an ebook I would have been tempted to get out my red pen because on practically every page I'd come across incorrect words (your/you're, too/to, tale/tail to mention a few) or sentences that didn't quite make sense until you'd guessed what the missing word was. If that is something that will drive you insane you may want to wait and hope that an updated version is released but if you can look past it then the story itself is enjoyable. It's hard because you can't really compare a self published novel that costs £1.30 to a traditionally published book that is more likely to be £6.99, I'm just warning you so you'll know what to expect when you buy the book.

Overall I did like Demon at my Door but it didn't manage to blow me away. However, after a rocky start I found myself enjoying the story more and more towards the end which is when things really got going and I can't wait to spend more time with Rick when the sequel is released. If you're a fan of young adult paranormal romance and you don't mind stories with a bit of spice to them then it would be worth giving this book a try.

A love story with a demonic twist...

I am not usually into demons...I have not even been reading much paranormal. But seriously, Michelle Valentine totally sucked me in with this one!

Maybe it is because not only is it a thrilling story about demons, but it also has a love story, mystery, suspense, complex characters, and an intriguing plotline. There is a love triangle, college-age angst, and a demon issue. Nat has a pesky little problem since she has been marked by a demon since she was a a child and is supposed to give up her soul and belong to him once she turns 21. Of course that time is fast approaching.

The demon always kills them. Not once has he ever left a person who made a deal alive. Not one, except me.

This book had so many twists and turns. It kept me up late two nights in a row and had me grasping my kindle hard. It changes and morphs and just when you think you you have it all figured it out, it mutates again.

Nat is misunderstood, ostracized, unpopular insecure, strong, resourceful, but lives in fear of the demon coming for her. She has been dealing with these issues her whole life and mostly suffering alone. But two young men end up involved in the chaos that is her life.

Rick was the perfect mix of nice, naughty and bad boy. He was sweet, loving, protective, and accepting of Nat. He was supportive and inspired her. They have electric chemistry together. But he does have a few secrets. I loved him and Nat together and was really hoping they could work out all of their issues.

The tattoos on his right arm are the only thing about him that screams I am a bad boy. Well, that and the little smirk he does that makes me swoon a little every time, His dark hair hangs loose and frames his handsome face. He wears the bad boy, surfer hair look well.

"Shut up. I'm serious. I'm really damned."
"Not if I can help it. I'll help get you off the naughty list."

Stewart was the golden boy with a soft heart but asshole edge. They have a shared past and magnetic pull. But He had his own issues to deal with.

He's like perky golden sunshine while I am an overpowering eclipse.

Stewart and Rick are polar opposites, but I'm drawn to both. One pushes my commitment away, while the other can't wait to be together.

I honestly do not want to say too much because I do not want to give anything away. There are so many surprises, secrets, plot twists, and things that interconnect in ways you do not expect. It would ruin the book if you knew them ahead of time. I can honestly admit that I was sending Michelle PMs threatening to send my demon chihuahua to her door if this book did not turn out in a way that I was happy with. lol.

At the heart of this book is a love story...really two love stories since Nat has to decide between the two boys. It's also a race to save Nat's soul and keep the demons at bay. There is drama, danger, excitement, mystery, passion, and love.

And even though there is resolution at the end of the book, there is definitely more story to tell with these characters. I heard a rumor from a very reliable source that there will probably be a book 2 in this series. I will totally read it to see where their stories lead. I highly recommend this book even if demons are out of your comfort zone. Because this is one hot, turbulent, demon drama!

Thanks to Michelle Valentine for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Demon at my Door was an interesting book full of twists and turns. Be careful what you say yes to, because your life can be forever changed. Natalie has been trying to live a life of normalcy, but since she gave into that demon boy many years ago, she knows her time is running out.

Poor poor Natalie, is a lonely soul. She is known as the town outcast, and is even snubbed at school because of her known status. Natalie has only a few months left of her natural life, until she fully becomes a Demon. Living with this fear that she can be turned into a Demon at any minute, eats at her. She is constantly watching her back, making sure the little Demon boy isn't near. But she knows when he is lurking, she can feel him in her bones.

As much as she is the outcast, she has a "secret" boytoy named Stew. He is the hot boy next door. They have been pining after one another since the start of summer break , but of course only her and Stew know. This eats at our darling, because she doesn't want to be anyone's dirty little secret.... do you blame her? I don't. So she gives the jerkoff Stew an ultimatum of either telling the world that they're a couple or she's ending it. Since Stew says he can't, she gives him the boot. TTFN (ta ta for now) Stew.....

Enter the hot and fantastic man, Rick. Only there is something about him that strikes Natalie as odd, but she is intrigued by him. She tells Rick that it's a bad idea for him to hang around her, since she doesn't want his reputation to go to the waste side. Rick doesn't care what other people think, because he likes her. They form a tight friendship that turns hot, fast. But things get weird. Uhoh....

Suddenly, the beans have been spilled on the wonderful Rick.....dun dun dun. Natalie is freaking out, so she turns to Stew. (What an idiot.) But, she knows that isn't going to make things better for her. Because she knows her time is limited. Things are getting thick fast. Nat, Rick, and Stew are all fighting the battle of love. Only Natalie isn't quite sure what her heart wants. Is it Rick who will leave her happy, or the craptastic Stew?

I really tried to get into this story, but it didn't hold my attention enough to enjoy. But I enjoyed Rick, Nat, and Stew. They were a great asset to the story line, the love triangle that they had was different and realistic. But it just wasn't enough for me. As I drew to the end of the book I started to question what had happened to certain characters or something that had happened in the book. I don't know if the author left these questions unanswered, because A.) she is going to write a sequel or B.) she didn't make it relevant for her story. Either way, I needed more. Overall, I love how Michelle Valentine took a walk into the realms of paranormal writing. She is a wonderful author, and she has some great tricks up her sleeves. She writes a story with meaning and passion, and I look forward to reading any of her books in the future. I give this book 3.5 Stars!

Copy provided by author in exchange for an honest review

I first came across Michelle A Valentines’s work via Emma Davies. Tweeting as @BookAngel_Emma she shared how much she was enjoying reading Rock The Band( Black Falcon 1.5), the sequel novella to Michelle’s Rock The Heart (Black Falcon series book 1). Having followed Emma for some time and enjoyed tweeting with her about our mutual love of contemporary new adult fiction, particularly the tattooed bad boys contained within, I knew that I had very similar tastes to her. I immediately downloaded and read Rock The Heart in one evening , followed by Rock The Band the following night.

Gutted to realize that I would have to wait until March for the continuation of the Black Falcon series, I read the excerpt of Demon At My Door, contained at the end of Rock The Band, with some interest. Impressed with the imagery and world building contained within that sample chapter, I set about emailing the author to request an advance copy, for the purpose of review.

With just 200 pages, Demon At My Door was a fast paced paranormal romance just begging to be read in a single sitting. Who was I to disappoint?

The plot itself is fairly predictable, the blurb pretty much covers the major points of the story, and as readers we are provided with some very obvious clues. Never the less I was immediately drawn in to Natalie’s story. Rather than be frustrated at Natalie’s obliviousness of Rick’s true nature I found myself racing though the pages to find out when “the penny would drop” (Michelle’s timing was spot on in this regard *laughs evilly *) and how on earth she was going to win back her soul and straighten up the mess her life had become.

As with her contemporary romance series, what Michelle really excelled at was creating chemistry between her main characters. So much so that I found myself rooting for Natalie to get over Stew, the football playing boy next door, and get it on already with Rick, the soul stealing demon who’s interference had over shadowed most of her childhood (what can I say, I love a bad boy).

While the book finished in the absence of a cliffhanger, Michelle obviously has much more in store for Natalie, Rick and Stew, in what promises to be the start a fun new series from the self published author.

Verdict: Demon At My Door was a quick, easy and enjoyable read. I won’t hesitate to download a future sequel. Meanwhile, the count down to the release of Rock My Bed (Black Falcon book 2) continues.

Goodreads book Discription:

Becca's books review:

I have read alot of paranormal books, vampires, wolves, other demon books, and I have read all of Ms. Michelle Valentines books.. i wasn't sure she would be able to pull this off with the different books but you know what she took this book and she made it one of my new favorite demon books.

The relationship that Natalie and Rick has is something that i think everyone one wants. Natalie has been a social outcase since high school, now in her last year of college she doesn't see it changing. She just want to get one her her life, she knows that her demon is coming back for her soon, but she is still on the lookout for him and a way to save herself. she has been having a "secret" relationship with the boy next door for the summer, and now that school is back in session she doesn't want to keep it a secret anymore, but he doesn't see it the same way. but on a "chance" meeting with the hot new badboy at school. Rick walks into Natalies life, where he knows he is supposed to be. now the trick will be for her to accept what he wants and who he is..

I really liked this book and am looking forward to more from Ms. Valentine and any subject she wants to write about!

Demon at my Door by Michelle Valentine kinda blew me away. I haven't read a paranormal book in a while. I am a big fan of the genre. I have been deep into reading contemporary romance as of late. Not anymore this story brought me back.

We meet Natalie who at the present time is twenty years old. In order to save her mothers life she made a deal with a demon. She was only six years old and she promised her soul to a demon. Now it's only a matter of time before he collects. She is determined to control her souls future. Numerous attempts to kill the demon have failed. She even seeks out a fortune teller for assistance.

Things seem to be looking up for Natalie she meets Rick, He doesn't seem to care that she's a social outcast. Then after everything she has been through comes to find Rick is not at all what he appeared to be. Rick is the very demon her soul was promised to. Now we have a conundrum because now Natalie has a few things to figure out. Like how to save her soul from the demon she promised it to, And at what lengths is Natalie willing to go for releasing her soul.

So this book had the an err of mystery, suspense, and mixed with a whole lotta love and longing. And not just for these two. Also for the other characters in the book including her mother, sister, and the boy next store.

There is no denying that this wasn't your ordinary paranormal romance. I was intrigued by the inner struggle that Natalie was having. She has these feelings for this demon that she has hated for so long. She is confused. She wants a normal life. In reality she knows nothing about her life is ordinary. She doesn't want to give in to him. But in the end true love will always prevail, no matter the circumstances.

I would love to read more about Natalie and Rick's story. Not sure what Michelle has planned for these two. It looks to me by this read that it would be absolutely amazing. I am such a sucker for these kind of stories. There is nothing I like to see more than to people with so much love find one another. Michelle wrote such a wonderful story. And I already want more. That should tell you that this is the book you should definitely pick up and read.
