De zondebok

Rate this book
This is a short novel in which Strindberg's major themes are covered very well with an almost tolerable dose of his misogynism (he went through three ugly divorces and some affairs). But the story itself is beautiful and reveals some of his characteristic criticisms of society.

Eerste lezing 2019: 4/5

Tweede lezing 2023:

A short novel by August Strindberg. Better paced than even his plays and none of the misogynistic rants you find in his other novels.

This was the first thing I've read of his, I don't know if it was the translation but does he not believe in chapters or sometimes paragraphs? This is really short but it was a chore to read.
