Maddy Smith writes for a trendy website in Washington DC, has two fabulous best friends, and her own apartment. When her handsome new colleague Travis Emerson moves to town, Maddy soon finds herself wishing for something more. After a misunderstanding between them occurs, not only is her hope for a relationship ruined, but their friendship is in jeopardy as well.
Is any chance that Maddy had with Travis over? Or could he possibly be what she’s been looking for all along?

Maddy Smith has a good life, two besties, a great apartment and writes for a Washington, DC magazine! Life is great with parties and friends, until one night while out she sets eyes on a handsome stranger, but she never has a chance to talk to him until he shows up at her office the very next workday. For Travis, the new guy in town, even though he and Maddy hit it off immediately, nothing seems to be moving along except a great friendship, then there is a misunderstanding and that may mean the end of the relationship that has never begun. This was a sweet story where eyes lock across a crowded room and there is love at "first sight". Sounds cliché, it's not and I'm living proof of that! It was fun to read and reminisce along with the story of Maddy and Travis, and even though they both frustrated me at different points in the story I had no choice but to keep rooting for them both. Cute, warm fuzzy story that will leave you with a smile, whether you want to believe in love at "first sight" or not!

After locking eyes with a handsome stranger during a night out with her girlfriends, the last thing Maddy expected was ever seeing the handsome stranger again. Not until he shows up at her office first thing Monday morning.
In First Sight, we watch two people, destined to fall in love with one another, trying hard to resist their temptations. Maddy isn’t sure she should be getting involved with someone she works with, and really, how well does she know this handsome stranger- this Travis? Just because she feels as though they’ve got an unspoken connection to one another, doesn’t mean she’s willing to throw away everything she’s worked so hard for. Even when her closest girlfriends try to convince her otherwise.
Does Travis have feelings for her? Maddy can’t tell. Or, maybe she doesn’t want to see it. It’s safer to remain friends, even when she feels as though there is a lot more going on between the two of them. And when a terrible misunderstanding occurs, threatening even their friendship, will there be an easy way to come back from it?
I thought First Sight was a sweet read, with a realistic, flirty plot line, following the budding friendship/romance between two people who really can’t see the forest in the trees where relationships are concerned. It’s hard to believe this is Laura Donohue’s debut novel! I could easily identify with the main characters, hoping Maddy and Travis would make a decision, no matter where their relationship took them or what the outcome turned out to be.
First Sight by Laura Donohue was a great book. I love that this was a shorter book to read and that makes it easy for me to fit into my schedule. This was such a great story and I can’t wait to read more books by her in the future. This book was easy to read and understand. Her writing also made me want to keep reading because I had to know what happened and how the story ended. I loved the characters and the setting of this story. I think one of the reasons I loved this story so much was because I have always wanted something like this to happen in my life so I felt like I could relate to the story & characters. This was a sweet love story that I would recommend to anyone who love romance novels and is looking for a super sweet love story to read.
FTC:I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Maddy is instantly attracted to Travis, but this is more of a connection at first sight story than a lust at first sight. It is obvious to everyone they work with that Maddy and Travis like each other, but will they realise?
This sweet, clean, slow burn romance was a pleasure to read. I liked and related to both Maddy and Travis, and hoped they would figure out how the other felt. The characters and situations all felt realistic. I enjoyed this debut novel from Laura and look forward to her next one.
I'm surprised that this is the first novel published by Indie Author Laura Donohue. It is carefully written and the editing is exceptional! The story line flows effortlessly with all of the action taking place around Washington DC. This was a fun, Chick-Lit read, and I couldn't put it down! You will definitely fall in love at FIRST SIGHT with Maddy and Travis. Sophie Kinsella fans will enjoy. Great first book from a new author!
A wonderful story about the sort of relationship we wish would happen to all of of. An instant connection, a solid friendship and the chance for something more. I loved both of the main characters. They're easy to connect to and root for and their relationship progresses extremely realistically.
Short and beautifully sweet, a love story for all to enjoy!
I've just finished reading this book and Ilove Marissa- she speaks her mind and is keen on the sparks between her friend Maddy and the new guy at work Travis.
