Ai Yazawa (Japanese: 矢沢あい, Yazawa Ai) is a Japanese manga author and illustrator. Her pen name comes from singer Eikichi Yazawa, of whom she is a fan. Yazawa started her comics career in 1985. She specialises in shojo manga (girls' comics). Most of her works have been serialised in the magazines 'Ribon', 'Cookie' and 'Zipper'. Yazawa's stories focus on young, often rebellious women and their relationships. The characters are always very stylish, and Yazawa herself is known for her sense of fashion. (She even attended a fashion school for some time after high school.) Among her most famous manga are Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai (I'm No Angel, 1992–1995), Neighborhood Story (1995-1998), Paradise Kiss (1999-2004), and Nana (2000-2009), the latter awarded a Shogakukan Manga Award in 2003. Some of these works have been adapted into anime and live action movies.
so sad i finished!!!!! the artwork was so beautiful and the story was just as cute. i wanna wear happy berry clothing ʚ♡ɞ i can’t wait to start paradise kiss!! ♡
starting with the fact that I immensely love all of Yazawa's works, I think this one might be my all-time favorite; I originally decided to read it because of Paradise Kiss, which already has a special place in my heart but I ended up loving and seeing myself in these characters, especially Mikako. I loved the way every character has its own very unique personality and fashion style (this way I can also steal some outfits hehe), it's allowed me to find some traits of mine in every one of them. also, I adored the subtle cameos that Yazawa gave us, it feels like her novels are part of a whole connected universe. the only thing that saddened me was the lack of yuusuke & ayumi scenes (DON'T GET ME WRONG THERE ARE MANY SCENES BUT NOT ENOUGH FOR ME 😭) because I obviously ended up cheering for the side couple, as always.
What can I say about this manga? It is simply wonderful. It was such a great thing to see what everyone has become. A bit shocked by Ross's kid though 😭😂😂😂 but I love him and everyone of the new generation. I'm so in love with Tsutsomu and Mikako's relationship and I truly hope some day in the future we'll have a sequel about their child and Yusuke's. I must say, about Yusuke. I'm happy he ended with Ayumi, I just hoped to see them a little more together as grown ups! We understood they were dating and Ayumi got pregnant and that's how they decided to quickly get married but I just wished there was more explanations, maybe some scenes of these two? How they got married and stuff... but upon that I'm not disappointed at all. This manga gives me joy and hope. I simply loved it. Five stars, not even 4.5!

I love this series. I actually read Paradise Kiss first, and I was a little confused because I initially assumed this series would be about Miwako (one of the side characters in ParaKiss) and her friends, instead of her older sister Mikako (who looks just like her and has an extremely similar name). I wasn't disappointed though; I actually liked it more than Paradise Kiss. The characters that are in both stories aren't focused on much in the other series, but it's really cool to see them relate. I didn't even suspect who Miwako's buddies were until the end. I like that both stories prominently feature the art school both sisters end up attending, since there aren't a lot of overall similarities between the two stories. I love how absolutely driven Mikako is. So far I've enjoyed everything else I've read by Ai Yazawa and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.
This series is just too good to put down. Last night I stayed up until four in order to finish the series. I don't regret it at all! The whole series was just a classic Yazawa creation. Although it lacked an extremely tragic ending (this is not a spoiler, who knows, it could have been a slightly tragic ending) like in Paradise Kiss, the rest of the stories along the way just make the journey worth while.
Kurang tidur gara2 ga bisa berenti baca seri ini, tapi worth it bgt deh, haha. Oke, hari ini lanjut ke sekuelnya, Paradise Kiss, tentang generasi berikutnya dari Gokinjo. Kmrn sempat skimming vol 1 ParaKiss, hmmm, kayanya aku lebih suka Gokinjo....But, let's see...
