This is definitely to go to resource for anyone who wants a readable, accessible manual that explains the different areas and skills of DBT, in a language that people can actually understand. This is in contrast to the Linehan skills training manual which personally I found to be bloated and overintellectualizing a fairly straightforward skillset. I also appreciated the disclaimer in the intro which rightly points out that DBT can be applied effectively in a variety of settings, and does not have to be a long term therapy with group sessions, out of hours phone calls and all the other elements of 'true' DBT. Any individual who is their own worst enemy will benefit from this approach.

I had put off reading this one because it looked so intimidating but I shouldn’t have judged a book by its cover. This was excellent. I’m assuming I’m reviewing the second edition here. At times the acronyms became almost Buseyisms but overall they were useful. And I like the shots fired at Marsha Linehan!

Helpful, but without a therapist or the group therapy you're only going to get so far. Still, I would recommend it to people who need something to help them journal and integrate whatever DBT skills they're working on.

This is a very helpful book but it's extremely clinical. If you're looking for help as someone who needs the therapy it's almost useless to you it provides all the paperwork but nothing really as far as the treatment

Clear and concise, worth the read for counselors or those who want to better understand DBT. Pretty beginner level, not for those already familiar with the groundwork of DBT.
