Tim Clarke, the handsome and rich playboy vet, doesn’t believe in happily ever-afters. Women are to date, bed and leave - in that order. Then along comes plus-sized party girl Cindy Lawson, with her devil-may-care attitude, wicked humour and tender heart, and suddenly Tim’s chosen path, while not very smooth to start with, has become a whole lot rockier.
So close to 3 stars. Horrendous lack of editing - repeated use of the same words, use of cliches, & a frequent use of phrases more suited to a Brit historical romance than a contemporary Aussie one. On the plus size side its nice to see the philandering hero be treated the way he would be treated in real life: with justifiable suspicion & disdain because everyone knows he's a slut. It's also good to see him try to get to grips with why he behaves the way he does instead of the usual romance novel cheat of oh, I've just been waiting for the right woman to heal me with her magic quim and now my broody, philandering days are over.
It's rare & impressive in a romance to meet a heroine who has had a life before the story starts (its an ex who made her realise her confidence wasn't misplaced because there were men who found her attractive) and who therefore comes to the relationship a mature adult instead of being some wibbly little girl trapped in a woman's body waiting for a man or for twu wuv so solve her emotional problems so she'll be grown up on the inside too.
I might read book #1 in the series (woman who needs a man to service her), but think book #2 (woman who needs a man to fix her) needs to be dodged.
This story was very good. I truly Love the attitude of Cindy Lawson, she is my She-Hero. A Voluptuous Woman should walk with her head up high and tell the world, that even though she is not skinny she is still beautiful, sexy, inside and out. If people around you do not like what they see well that is there opinion and your opinion is more important. Tim Clarke what a Handsome, sexy ass hell, he was so emotional unstable, because he was not seeing that what was in front of him he deserved. His mother was such an awful awful woman, she was unhappy with her life that what she want everyone to be unhappy with her. She was much trying to dominate her son to her wishes. I was so proud that Tim stand up to her without any hesitation. Love his Aunt Hannah, how comical was that woman, but she was offering advise that he need to take to the heart. Oh and how about his boys, Mike and Rick (Including Tim are no doubt the Three Musketeers), how they joke on each other, but they are truly Brothers at heart. And let's not forget Marty and Alex, love the way they loved there sister to death. How beautiful they come to defend each other regardless any remorse. And last but not least, let me not forget the baby "Al" if it wasn't for the prince, he wouldn't have his mommy and daddy together. I applaud Ms. Verdenius, very good book. Can't wait for another one. Loved all the I read from her. Thank you for give us Big Voluptuous Woman, pride and understanding that we have to love ourselves unconditionally.
Last book in the series, finally Tim the vet and his luscious babe Cindy get their story, starts out rocky but a cute little kitten called Al brings them together, loved that the four characters from the last two books get mentioned and are involved on the stories Mike will always be my favourite. You get to hear about Cindy's brothers Marty and Alex and how chuffed was I to learn they have there own books and there ready to read, I'm thinking I'm going to like Alex...great lighthearted fun series, definitely worth a go.
It was refreshing to see Tim doubt he could deserve Cindy and that he, like the other heroes in this series, sort of had to “earn” their heroines, in a way – especially since these men were prizes and the women were categorized by society as undesirable. Knowing that Tim had the looks, connections, his name/reputation, and money to entice almost any woman, I really liked that he had insecurities because he knew Cindy would be able to see through his façade – and what lay underneath was not the happy-go-lucky guy he presented himself to be.
These two are such a charming pair because they were so similar – on the outside, they were social, care-free butterflies, but the truth was they were lonely. Such a good take on the old adage “Money can’t buy happiness.” I was also happy to see that Tim will finally be part of the Lawson family – a loving family that he was deprived of all his rich/privileged life.
One thing I need to mention about this last book is that it felt like it was written with a little more rush, a little less care, and certainly less depth in the characters (IMO) than the first two books. There were typos/errors and the ending was so abrupt for a standalone, and even more so for a book that ended a series. That was very disappointing. It didn’t ruin the story, but I didn’t get the satisfaction I expected, as a fan of this series.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this series. There’s such a sense of community with the ensemble and you feel invited into their bonds of friendships and family. I’m excited to read on about The Lawson Boys! Alex and Marty have the makings for wonderful heroes.
Vet's Desire begins with Tim being out on the town when he runs into Cindy Lawson, party girl who is friends with his friends. He doesn't understand Cindy, and he really doesn't like her all that much either. Especially after she makes a fool of him in front of another woman. But after that night he can't seem to get her off of his mind. And Cindy is finally seeing Tim for who he is. She's actually attracted to him now, but she knows he wouldn't go for someone like her, and pushes those thoughts aside.
But when something pulls these two closer together, the sparks fly, and some things happen that they can't turn their back on. But each of them will have to figure out their feelings before it is much too late.
This book was a major surprise. I thought it was going to be a light fluffy comedy type of book, but it turned out to be a whole lot more. I truly adored the whole plot line. And I really liked Cindy as well. I did get a little annoyed with her towards the end of the book, but other than that I loved her personality!
And Tim, while being frustrating at first, I really learned to like him a lot. He ended up doing a lot of things I didn't expect and I really loved him for it! These two had a great romance, and this was a great ending to this series!
I was glad to finally read the last in this trilogy - although it would be great to have more books like these where the heroine is a plus size girl (an actual plus size not just a size 8 instead of a 2!). I had enjoyed Tim's antics from the previous books and was not dissapointed by him in this one. Ya gotta love a hot vet!
I liked the parts with little baby Al (adorable kitten!) and Cindy's brothers (they need books!) and of course the interactions between Tim and the hero's (his friends) from the previous books - all great. I can't give this a higher rating mostly because it was too short and there just didn't seem to be enough of the relationship between the two leads... it started off quite funny and I was hoping for more of that give and take between them...
I LOVE ANGELA VERDENIUS'S BOOKS! Not only because i'm a big girl myself, but because the way she wrote her books are just.. Genius! I LOVE IT! Vet's Desire is the third book of Big Girl's Lovin' series and thank God I've read 'em all. But overall, my favorite is the second one. Don't know why, I just love the way Mike's authority style. Very.. Intense. Anyway, I can't wait to purchase the fourth book, The Virgin Sex Queen. Allan's story now! Gah!!!!
Nicely done!!! Not my fav of the BGL series, but a great one nonetheless. Love it when sexy boys adore girls with an extra somethin' somethin' xD hahaha Fun, sweet, sexy series...u gotta read it! Besides, being the author Australian, learned lots of slangs :D So thank u Mrs. Verdenius for helping me improve my vocabulary ;)
I have enjoyed this book series so much ... I so wish the characters were real people because I would love to hang out with them if they were ... :) if you want to read a feel good turn your frown upside down series this is a fantastic series for you to read ... :)
LOVED it!! Cindy is the kind of person I would have liked to aspire to. Actually I would like to a combo of all 3 women in all the books. Please tell me there will be more books for this series!!
A re read and a favourite because the H and h and secondary characters are so relateable. Love the Australian setting and the authors use of everyday Aussie words.
I bought this trilogy years ago, read the first two and just never read the last one (I think it’s been sitting on my kindle for about 5ish years), but I needed a light fun romance read last week and saw it sitting on my kindle shelf and went for it. It’s a bit predictable after the first two, but that’s exactly what I was looking for, some push and pull, but with a guaranteed happy ending
hm it was okay , i don't find it hard to imagine like the previous books. it's your typical rich boy and rich gal but in short story. i don't have any difficulty in finishing this book, but it doesn't give me any excitement either. what interests me the most is the cat in this book! Al is such a cutie and spoiled cat lol
I had to finish the trilogy and have to laugh now that I'm done that all the men in all three books (they are all best friends) ended up with BBW! I enjoyed this book as much as the 1st 2. This writer is fun and makes the books easy to digest!
I like this one better that the other 2, felt very refreshing after reading the other 2 books back to back, I aspire to be just like Cindy to have her confidence and just be me and content with myself
Okay, forgive me for being super lazy, but I am going to review all the books in this trilogy in one review, this is to stop boring you with repetition as what I have to say about each book is pretty similar.
The trilogy goes in this order:
I normally reserve the first part of my review to give a general synopsis of the book, been as I doing a three in one deal I will give a general run down. In each book we have a heroine with body issues who unwittingly ensnares a hot man who then has the task of convincing his BBW heroine that he likes her just as she is.
I am in a BBW mood at the moment, I tend to go through phases so I have been lapping up Angela Verdenius like a fat chick let loose on a 6ft chocolate fountain. I feel safe saying this as I am that fat chick and if I was ever let loose on a 6ft chocolate fountain...then beware, I would suck that thing dry.
Anyways, back to the books, I enjoyed each one, they had their emotional moments, their sexy moments and their funny moments. Each of the heroines were likable and relatable for anyone who has few body issues, especially with those of us who have more "love" handles than a bike shop has regular ones.
But, the books themselves didn't really differ, the heroes, heroines and plot line were exactly the same in each book, as was the language. Ms Verdenius has her favourite words and they are used with frequency in each and every book.
This was an enjoyable trilogy though, I did enjoy each book and have a soft spot for Mike from Cop's Passion and I am going to continue my BBW obsession and read some more Angela Verdenius books.
Book 3 in 'Big girls lovin series'. Let me just say, this book is hot. Hotter than the first 2. I enjoyed the story about the Doctor & the Cop, but by god this story about the Vet is the sexiest.
Vet Tim Clarke, we met in book 1, he's a good friend to Dr Rick Reed, they are old school friends. Tim has the best sense of humour. His romantic story was a joy to read, he's very sexy, hot & makes the reader laugh.
Cindy we got to know in book 2, she is the best friend to Maddy fiance' to Mike the Cop who is good friends to both Tim & Rick. These stories can be read as stand alone, but are way too much fun to miss any of the love stories. I actually read book 2 first & loved it so much that made me desire to read the other 2.
Tim is a playboy, hot as hot, with the ab's & sex appeal to go with being the eye candy that he is & he has no desire to settle down. Cindy is a party girl & has a fantastic attitude to life & acceptance of her plus size body & confidence to live her life as she pleases. They know each other through the circle of friends that they share & also they both come from money & are in the same social circles.
Tim & Cindy both have issues about getting into a relationship with each other. We get to work through & share their problems. They are fantastic together, this is a great story, with loads of passion & heat. A bit of kinky & quite a lot of humour, makes it a great read.
Totally enjoyed this story, love the Vet & his funny T shirts & love the hot & sexy plus size babe he falls for, excellent.
There is more to this group of friends & family with the Lawson brothers, Alex & Marty. They have their own stories, so have to give them a look at & maybe get a little more of this fantastic group of people as they are both Cindy's brothers. So hoping we get more of Tim with his funny T's & Cindy with her great outlook on life.
Although there was some parts that lacked editing this was simply an amazing book, I loved it. It's one of the few books that I didn't lose interest at some point, that's hard to do for me. This is the best book in the trilogy, they truly got better as you got to the next one. Cindy won my heart, normally the plus sized girls are so insecure and being bigger than the skinny girls myself that annoys me because not all plus sized girls are completely insecure. I simply loved her and she's my favorite plus sized and one of my top female characters in general. I think if you're a plus sized girl you should read this book because Cindy should be an inspiration to you because she embraces who she is with only some insecurities. And her family is awesome I loved her moms parts and her brothers especially Alex although Marty was a close second, the characters in general were written wonderfully even the bad guys. I loved Mike, I thought he'd be my favorite but shortly after I started his book Tim took that spot. Time was simply impossible not to love, you'd get to parts where you'd think he was a totally jerk but then you'd be sucked back into love him. He was a manwhore and normally I'd have issues with how that worked out but in this book I didn't, it's possibly the best work through of a manwhore I've read and I've read about plenty. I say if you haven't read this trilogy you need to and don't start with Tim's book because the other two are good too and plus to get the complete awesomeness of characters you need to read the other ones.
Vet's Desire shows how a man has power over his own heart, but does have the power over what to do once his heart shows him who is right for him.
Tim Clarke is cynical and rich. His mother always told him he was not good enough, somehow being a veterinarian was not as a doctor, and so he has always gone for the hard edged women that way No'One was hurt when he walks way the next morning. History has taught him that mostly they want him for his mother's money and his last name.
Cindy Lawson is a plus size heroine that has heat of gold, if a wonderfully snarky attitude at times. She is not found of the playboy vet, as Tim is known. But one Saturday evening when she and her brother find two days old kitten fighting for their life Tim is the vet she trusts to call. While they lose Princess, Al, her brother is a fighter and hangs on. Tim is impressed with how much time and effort Cindy is willing to put into the care and raising of the little guy. They are drawn closer as they care for little Al, and as Mike - Tim's best friend and the fincee of Cindy's best friend - warns Tim away from Cindy because she a good girl (one you marry - not have one night stands with) Tim can't keep his distance from the fiesty blond.
Great story of love,self-image, society's image and defeating your fmily's image of what you are supposed to be. A mst read fun romance.
I'm loving Angels Verdenius books, I'm thinking of reading the lawson boys books next ^^
- I was really shocked with Tim in this book, in the previous ones he was the funny joker guy in the group, but you notice glimpses of the sadness within. In here he really opened up, he looked within himself and took a closer look to his surroundings and finally FINALLY talked about his feelings. I liked how he became upfront to her, he might have stumbled in the beginning but caught up and spilled his guts, for once in this series the guy here is the one who was afraid of a broken heart when he spilled everything for her.
- Cindy was a breath of fresh air, she was happy and has a great family, I liked her confidence, I liked that she has the balls to stand up for herself and doesn't take crap from anyone. I liked how she made Time feel.
- Couldn't help but fall for Al like the rest of her family.
- Loved the guy talks, and even when they had each others back, like when Mike talked to Cindy, how they told him the truth about his feelings, and every scene they appeared in was nice, cause it showed how happy and in love the previous couple are.
- I liked how Tim faced his mom at the end once and for all.
- I liked Cindy's brothers, especially when Tim was in the picture.
- The only negative side is that there is no epilogue T^T
This is a reread. I just love Cindy. She's every fat girl's dream. So at ease with her big body. Id give anything to be this confident. Tim's great too.
Having got that out of the way, stuff that irritated me were 1. Lots of repetitions both in dialogue and thought process. Infact sometimes its instant within a sentence of each other. 2. The boy gang wanting to talk feelings is a bit much. It starts out cute but then really gets on the nerves. 3. There is no story continuation..Cindy wants to start an animal Foster care which is so commendable but its not implemented at all. In fact there is a cat that needed a home and Tim doesn't think of Cindy fostering it. This was disappointing since I'm sure the story would have really taken off. 4.Tim' s mother's interference was a tad.bit melodramatic.
Even with all these irritants, I would heartily recommend this series to all romance lovers.
I'm not sure this book can be truly appreciated unless the first two books have been read. Tim is typical playboy leading male finding love for the first time, but the story was better than your typical because you really got to understand WHY he was very love 'em and leave 'em. The interactions between Tim and his friends were fantastic through the entire series and this book was no different.
Cindy was a great example of a woman who accepted and liked herself as is, but still suffered the insecurities nearly all woman feel. From Cherry, to Maddy, to Cindy...the series covered how women can handle themselves with self-image to relationships. Cindy was a great character to read about as a stand-alone book, but even more enjoyable in the context of this series.
I liked "Doctor's Delight" and "Cop's Passion"--the two prequels--much better than this one. In this story, Time, a vet, acted more like an adolescent than a grown man, especially for someone who trained to be a vet. He always wore goofy, sexualized themed t-shirts in order to brag about his sexual prowess. Only a 16 or 17-year-old male would do such a thing in reality; a grown, mature man wouldn't need to advertise that he was a sexually mature man and would be above wearing such apparel. Also, I thought the ending was rather corny. The whole idea of him advertising his thoughts and feelings on national TV was goofy. Again, these were the actions of an adolescent male, or someone in great need of attention.
For me, the second book is the best from all three.
This is a story about Cindy Lawson, the local party girl and yes, plus size, with Tim Clarke, the local playboy vet. Quite interesting but a bit lack of conflict. But I still enjoy reading it though. There are of course Rick and Cherry also Mike and Maddy here. And the funny thing is those three best buddies actually get the plus size girls. What a coincidence :)
Next, of course I can't wait to read the story of Alex and Marty, Cindy's yummy brothers :D
I really liked this book, simply because it was so unexpected! The hero never thought that Plus Sized Women could be his type, and his heroine never expected to be attracted to him! I loved Cindy's flamboyance, her lack of concern about what others thought of her size, and her desire to just be herself. I really need to take a lesson from her! This was a very funny read, and I was sorry to see it end, but my Kindle tells me there is hope on the horizon: stories about her brothers!
It started full force with great potential for an epic read. But towards the middle of the book all started go down hill for me, despite that it sould have me bouncing in the seat from giddiness from what was happening in the story.I haven't finished it yet, i'm giving it another chance and hoping for the remaining chapters to be good.
March 15th 2015 I read it from the beginning again. It's not a bad story, but once again was difficult for me to continue reading it.I was bored and sidetracted very easily.
