No one knew who was the father of Carin Brewster's baby. She'd kept her secret for the entire pregnancy. But during the birth, she called out a name -- Raphael Alvares!
The powerful Brazilian millionaire rushed to Carin's bedside. But had Rafe come because pride forced him to give the baby his name? Or was it because the one passionate night they'd shared had left him longing to make Carin his bride?
I've been a writer, one way or another, all my life. Before I could read, I made up poems and my mom wrote them down for me. In elementary school, my teachers almost always let me write poems or stories instead of requiring me to do art projects. Always, I dreamed of becoming a published writer...and that dream came true! I write novels about sexy, powerful men and independent-minded women, and what happens when they find each other and fall in love. My books are sexy and romantic, and they've very often full of romantic suspense. I write the kinds of books I love to read, and I hope that makes my readers happy.
One night stand leads to a pregnancy which leads to a difficult delivery which leads to the heroine finally revealing the father's name when she is afraid she will die.
Hero is from Brazil and attributes his alphahole tendencies and speechifying to that fact. Heroine thinks she's feisty, but she's stubborn and short-sighted and tends to cut her nose to spite her face.
There is one scene which saves this predictable tale from a two star rating. The heroine is commanded by the hero to meet their neighbors of the Pampas and the heroine, in a fit of passive aggressiveness, decides to wear a lime green polyester bridesmaid dress with gold ruffles. Since having a baby it is too tight and pulls in the wrong places. She doesn't dry her hair or do her make up - except for purple lipstick. The hero is mortified, but then the heroine realizes she's shot herself in the foot since the hero's former fiance is also in attendance and is only happy to claim a relationship with her husband.
The H/h get along until they don't. They're each jealous of the other's former lovers although there is no cheating going on. I really don't like when all the series characters troop through to give advice to the H/h. Sexist I know - but two guys talking in depth about love and one giving the other relationship advice just seems so contrived.
Thank goodness they had a Benadryl baby and an army of nannies while they had lots of sex and shuttled between New York and Brazil.

I really didn't like her but by the end I did. She was a spoiled brat. The hero wasn't much better either. Inviting his old lover to dinner. Then thinking about how he would have the OW as his mistress, and stay married and how good the sex had been with her. I almost threw the kindle. I didn't though and persevered until the end. It was a good book just not great. I liked that he realized he loved her and he never touched the OW so that added a star to it but there was just something missing. I don't know what but it was just okay. They had passion for sure but this could have been a better read. It just needed more. Will not read again.
I liked this book but I was SO beyond annoyed with it. The hero was a arrogant pompous ass! He blackmailed the heroine and threatened to take their daughter away from her if she did not marry him. Then he invited his ex lover to the place where the heroine called home. He was throwing out orders left right and center. I wanted to kick him in the shins! When the heroine finally left him, I literally clapped my hands. When the hero finally got his crap together and realized her loved the heroine all I could think about was, it's about time!
Young innocent Carin realizes her one night with Rafe was just sex and he didn't care about her, so she decides to keep her child to herself. Even when family and friends apply the pressure she keeps the secret.
Until her life is a stake and her child could be parentless.
Rafe storms back into her life and takes it over with no mercy. Hard to like Rafe as he is so hard and merciless in claiming them both and the only softness he shows is to the baby. Carin on the other hand is so naive and has no idea how to stand up to him. You kind of feel sorry for her...as she tries to find her place in his alien world and tries to make a marriage.
Rafe of course has a past that had made him the way he is and it up to Carin to find the key to unlock his heart.
A nice sweet easy read which tends to lag in some spots but still overall good.
Pretty good read, did not like the hero much..the blackmail here was actually quite scary (custody / captive in foreign country pretty nightmarish). I found her family's betrayal very offensive...not sure why she let's them get away with it. But great jealous scenes...heroine really does rub his nose in her prior relationship when he is hurtful. I did like how he recognized when he made a wrong move and apologized, and ultimately set her free. I didn't love the treacly and abrupt confessions of love at the end.
My favorite thing about this book was the unexpected thread of humor that ran through the entire story. So many delicious chuckles to be had.
The h and H met at a party on the date of her ex’s marriage to her former BFF. The h got shit faced and was saved from making a complete ass of herself by the H. That led to a dunk in a cold pool and a thorough warming up by doing the horizontal mambo.
They go their separate ways with a bad impression of each other and the H hears nothing from the h until 9 months later when he received a call saying the h has just given birth to his child and, due to complications, may be dying.
The story then takes them to Brazil where there is much hostility and pettiness between the h and H. My favorite bit of petty was the lime green dress worn to meet the friends of the H. The gold ruffles and purple lipstick stained teeth had me LOL! The goal was to humiliate the H but it backfired and the h found herself more than embarrassed.
This book was an unexpected treat. I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. Glad I read it.
I didn't like it. Their connection was only good for a few chapters in the middle and at the very end. They for sure wouldn't have ended up together if she hadn't been pregnant.
The fmc was absolutely insufferable almost the entire book, I did not see what he ever saw in her. In the flashback of them meeting she was drunk, rude to employees, rude to the mmc and fought him (he was getting her away from the guest and trying to sober her up). They ended up sleeping together, again I don't understand what he saw in her. She was rude to him then locked herself in the bathroom, he left and then she was mad for the next 11 months that he didn't stay and never sought her out.
She decided not to tell him she was pregnant because she decided he was a terrible guy, refused to tell anyone who the father was. She almost died in childbirth so she revealed who father was when she said his name as she was losing consciousness. He came and she tried telling him he wasn't the father and wanted DNA proof baby was his. She was such a shrew, he forced her to marry him. Then she was a shrew for the next 6 weeks. She was nice for a little while then he hurt her feelings by not saying he loved her (even though she didn't tell him that she loved him and led him to believe she loved her ex boyfriend) and so she turned into a shrew again.
The mmc wasn't the worst considering the fmc's behavior, but he did have plans of having a mistress (making his ex fiance his mistress, did not happen) and invited her to dinner party at his house and subjected the fmc to her company and paid her lots of attention. Then even when him and the fmc were happy he still allowed the other woman to keep dropping by. He probably wasn't celibate in the 9 months that he was in the dark about the pregnancy, but I don't blame him. P.

Struggled to get into the book in the beginning, but it became one of my favs at the end. The scene between Rafe and Nicolas (the hero from the previous book) where the former realizes his love for the heroine is so beautifully written. I went through a range of emotions reading that chapter: I laughed, awwed, and smirked, it was so good. Was gonna rate it a 3 but just for that scene, I’m giving it a 4.
it is really wonderful how sometime men listen to their stupid logic and not their intuition? That is what Raphael Alvares is doing in this story, even when everything inside him shrieks that Carin is carrying his child.
Carin, like the usual frightened pregnant mother, fear for her baby thinking that Rafe should not have any participation in Amy's life, but as we all know, the happy ever after is inevitable.
Its mills and boons style romance so you know what you are getting, unplanned pregnancy, emotionally damaged hero, unable to love. When the heroine gets some back bone, she's great.
