Every time Nicolas tries to do something, people give him a book. Now, he has so many books that tell him what to do, how to do it and why to do it that he can't stand them anymore! But could books also be fun?
Gilles Tibo has written or illustrated over seventy children’s books, including the Simon series by Tundra Books, the Pikolo series by Annick Press, the Clementine series by Michel Quintin publishers, as well as texts for the Noémie series published in French by Éditions Québec/Amérique. He has created over a hundred posters and screen prints for theatre and for different cultural events. His illustrations can also be seen on the covers of records, novels, and magazines. He was a Canada Council Fellow and recipient of many awards, including the Governor General’s Award for Children’s Illustration — French for Simon et la ville...
A nice little reminder that everything can be learned about in a book. Not sure whether riding a bike was the best example though. Flo liked the wet cat.
There's really no such thing as too many books. They teach us how to do things, but our favourites will always be the ones that align with our passions.
Of course, we are in complete agreement with the idea of this book: that books can provide valuable information and great entertertainment. We must admit, however, we’re a bit mystified at how much our girls love this book. They can never get enough of it.

We've been reading a lot of Gilles Tibo books in my classroom and really enjoying them.
We loved how Nicholas has a book as soon as he needs to learn something :)
Book summary: Everytime Nichoals tries to do something - like brush his teeth or ride his bike - someone gives him a book on how to do it right. And he does. But when he's read too many books that tell him what to do, it's time for something new!
We just received this one as part of the TD Grade One Book Giveaway for TD Canadian Children's Book Week (in November). It's a REALLY cute book, with great illustrations. I can't wait to read it to the kids tonight!
Particularly good for Early Years storytime, this tale of a boy being "over-educated" by books to the extent that he now finds them boring goes over well with young children. It reminds us all that reading should be about fun as much as learning.
