So what if there's a psychotic nut after her? Rowan Evans doesn't like the idea of being whisked away by her father's security chief for safekeeping. Jack Donnelly rubs her the wrong way, gets on her nerves, and the last thing she wants to do is spend two weeks under his protective custody even if he is tall, blond and delicious. Jack has spent a lifetime and then some keeping people safe. So when he learned his oldest friend's daughter was in danger, he knew there wasn't anything he wouldn't do to keep her out of harm's way, including kidnapping her. And if it gives him some time to get a little closer to a woman who's always gone out of her way to keep him at arm's length, so much the better. He knows she'll be mad, but he can handle it. Can't he? When a self-sufficient, independent woman butts heads with a stubborn Irishman, there are bound to be sparks. And that's before she finds out he's a vampire

Hannah has been reading romance novels since she was young enough to have to hide them from her mother, and decided to try her hand at writing one when she realized the book she really wanted to read lived in her head. That was a dozen years and as many manuscripts ago, and there are still more stories to be told.

She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband—former Special Forces and an OR nurse who writes fantasy fiction, and acts as In House Expert for his wife on matters pertaining to weapons, tactics, the military, medical conditions and How Dudes Think—and their daughter, who takes after her father.

Hannah loves to hear from readers, and will answer questions here on Goodreads.

I like Ms. Murray's funny writing, but it didn't work for me in this book. As I've mentioned before, I have a hard time with "funny" PNR books. I don't know why because I don't have the same problem with other genres (CR, HR, UF, etc.), but that's how I'm wired.

The plot of this book is simple: Jack Donnelly is the security chief of Simon Ewans, one of the richest, most socially active and politically vocal men on the planet. Simon's daughter Rowan is a kindergarten teacher who, having grown up surrounded by bodyguards, cherishes the freedom of not having someone breathing down her neck 24/7 now that she no longer lives with her father. Rowan has avoided Jack for years, aware that his dominant ways might turn her hard-won independence to dust, but when her life is threatened by one of her father's enemies, she has no choice but to fall under Jack's protective custody. The rest is history, as we all know what happens in Romancelandia when a hot, yummy man and a beautiful, (un)willing woman are put together in close quarters. Yes, you've got it: lots and lots of steamy, mind-blowing sex! ;)

That alone would be enough to make this book an enjoyable read, but Ms. Murray had to throw a curve ball: Jack is a vampire! I have nothing against vampires, but *starts rant* please, oh please, don't make them look like long-living human beings with added strength and a few "idiosyncrasies". Jack wasn't immortal, took melanin tablets to avoid sunburn and drank blook from a packet, for crying out loud! Why, oh why did he have to be a vampire? The plot was good enough without that. *ends rant*

Forgetting the fact that he was a vampire, I loved Jack. He was charming, funny and dominant without being domineering. He was also a hot, sexy love machine, but who cares about that? ;) As for Rowan, I really liked her too. She was smart, spunky and sassy. She gave as good as she got, but she wasn't TSTL: once she understood the threat on her life, she never tried to sneak away from Jack's protection - not even when she was bored to the bone in their little hideaway. Kudos for her!

The villain and the suspense didn't work that well for me. Stephen Job - I refuse to make a comment on that name, LOL - was a one-dimensional, stupid villain. He didn't scare me one bit, and the "big" secret he revealed in the end made me roll my eyeballs.

Overall, this wasn't a bad read. I enjoyed the funny banter between Jack and Rowan - some were even ROFL moments - and I plan to read more books by Ms. Murray. I just have to make sure they aren't PNR. In my book, PNR and humor hardly go well together.

Ya'll know that I love a good vampire story. There is nothing like a sexy, dangerous vampire hero to make excited to read about, and this book definately delivers in every way!

Rowan Evans has a normal life. A teacher who spends most of her time grading papers and chasing kids, her life is pretty dull and uneventful at times. Liking her ordinary hum-drum life, she has avoided her father's security chief and friend Jack Donnelly for years. Between the Harley he drives and the bad-ass reputation, she avoids him like the plague. Her attraction and feelings she has for him confuses and overwhelms her. So when her overprotective, political father insists that she be guarded for her own safety she agrees...until she finds out it will be Jack who will be guarding her. Even though she is stubborn and willful, she doesn't cut off her nose to spite her face, as many heroines seem to do in this genre, and eventually learns to trust and admire the man she has most feared.

Jack Donnelly keeps people safe. Working for Rowan's father, and being a long-time friend of the family, he is just the man to keep Rowan safe. He has been attracted to Rowan for years. Knowing she is skittish of him, and has been buying his time to approach her with his desire and feelings for her. Irish and stubborn, he kidnaps Rowan when she refuses his help. But then realizes by doing so she will have to learn his secret.

The chemistry and the banter Jack and Rowan had between one another sizzled! This book had some really funny moments as well as some heartfelt ones. I really loved watching the characters come together and finding a common ground between them.

I loved Jack! He is a straightforward dominant hero. Jack being a vampire is just a PART of the story. There is alot of suspense, action and romance to keep the story interesting, so even if you do not like paranormal romances, this would be a good book to read because it isn't the entire focus of the book.

Hannah Murray is rapidly becoming one of my favorite erotica authors. Her stories contain a good bit of humor mixed in with sizzling sex and "Tooth and Nailed" is no exception.

Rowan is so mad! Just because there's a psycho nutjob after her to try and get to her father, he's saddled her with his Chief of Security Jack! The one man who just seems to rub her the wrong way. At least that's what she always thought, until she actually experienced his 'rub'. Now she's more confused than ever!

Jack has had a hunger for Rowan for several years now. With his 'special' abilities, he's even known she's attracted to him too. Since they have to spend the next few weeks together anyway, he can think of several 'pleasant' ways to pass the time!!

Lots of humor, zippy dialogue, fangs, and hot sex. Don't miss "Tooth and Nailed" by Hannah Murray.

3 1/2 stars for this erotic, funny (at times), minor suspense, vampire romance that started out and ended in Los Angeles, California, but the majority of the book took place in Slade, Ireland. The writing was good and I enjoyed the author's humor, but there was a point in the ending where the humor was inappropriate. When writing a gruesome scene and trying to put suspense in a plot, unrealistic crackpot comments while being tortured ruin the moment.

Rowan Evans was a Kindergarten teacher and the daughter of a politician targeted by a lunatic religious leader, Stephen Jobs. (I rolled my eyes at the name of the villain being the same as the founder of Apple Computers.) She had a feisty personality with a smart mouth, and she detested being surrounded by bodyguards. For 18-months she'd been lusting over--and avoiding--her father's head of security, Jack Donnelly (vampire).

They were very attracted to each other, but Rowan went out of her way to stay clear of Jack because of his love 'em and leave 'em style. She did not want to become one of his many former girlfriends. The villain, Stephen Jobs, decided capturing and torturing Rowan would be a great way to get to her father, so she is whisked off to Slade, Ireland until the threat is dissolved--by Jack.

Things got hot and heavy quickly--and often--while they waited for the all clear and she could return home to her job, which she wondered if she still had since she left with no notice and Jack wouldn't let her contact anyone while they were hiding. The middle part of the book was a lot of vanilla sex and Rowan whining about getting out of the flat or going home. It got old and I was just as ready for them to get out of the flat and stop having sex as the heroine.

I have to say, the author completely rewrote the "rules" for a vampire, if there are any. Dispelled a lot of the normal myths, cross, sunlight, garlic, drinking blood to live, not eating real food, being immortal, being a lot stronger, etc. Rowan asked a lot of questions about vampires during her sequester....

The suspense could have been built up, but the author seemed to have intended to play that part down. The suspense author, J.D. Robb (AKA Nora Roberts) is mentioned. The ending was so ridiculous that it was like drinking a much desired glass of water on a hot, summer day to find a fly in the bottom of the glass.

This is one spicy paranormal tale. Jack and Rowan are very likeable. Both are very stuborn. Jack has always been attracted to Rowan but she always avoided him. After Jack kidnaps her the sparks start to fly. I loved Rowan. She was witty and very outspoken. The sex between those two was hot. Jack is one sexy vampire who can bite me anytime.

Fun read - the dialog reminded me of a modern version of the the Tracy and Hepburn movies - you've got to love a heroine who refers to the hero as 'Chitty Chitty Fang Fang'... The action definitely takes a backseat to the sex/relationship...

I'm not going to give my take on the synopsis because plenty of others have already done that. I will however say "Tooth and Nailed" has become one of my favorite books. I love the author's sense of humor, it made for an interesting, entertaining and highly erotic read. Plus the chemistry between the two characters...
description.

There are a few scenes that come across a little corny but nothing that makes you want to quit reading. And honestly I think the chemistry between Rowan & Jack more than make up for anything cliche or corny. So to Hannah Murray I just want to say

I had a bland waiter ask me once, after I had finished his restaurant's equally bland food, "Did you like the food? It was okay, right?" I didn't burst his bubble, but confirmed for him that his food was okay. Just like his service.

Tooth and Nailed gets high marks for a great cover and a catchy title, but that's about it. The romance between Rowan and Jack just doesn't feel right to me - it's more about sex than anything else, and Rowan's character is just annoying as hell. I hate it when that happens. Jack's an Irish vampire who's over 100 years old, but his character fails to live up to his background. Saying I was disappointed in this book would be an understatement. Perhaps I should keep my book cover/book title expectations low, so that I don't have to respond with, "It was okay, right?"

Vampire Erotica

Good suspense story. Rowan's wealthy and politically influential father is a target of a bizarre religious cult, the Army of God. When Rowan also becomes a target, the father's security chief, Irishman Jack Donnelly, must protect the independent kindergarden teacher.

Oh, and Jack's a vampire ;-), unbeknownst to Rowan.

I liked the book and characters alot and give it four stars. More suspense plot and less sex would have made it even better.

This was really good, better than I thought it would be.I sort of stumbled upon this by chance when I was looking for another book by this author but I knew after the first 10 pages that this was my kinda book and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good laugh as well as scorching hot inventive love scenes and lots of witty banter between a very likeable H&H.

At this time, the content of this book has nothing to do with the description. This is only one story about a vampire, not different stories.

That being said, I enjoyed it a lot. It was a bit different from the usual which is always a plus. I recommend this one.

I don't usually like vampire erotica, but this was alright. The heroine had way too many snappy comebacks for my taste. That chick had an answer for every remark – it was almost distracting.

I hate characters that are whiny. This book to me was tacky and poorly written. Just my opinion

Despite the terrible title this was actually a pretty good book. Characters were developed and although the story line was predictable it had a few twists that were unexpected.
