This brief and economical text shows students with relatively little mathematical background how to understand and apply sophisticated linear regression models in their research areas within the social, behavioral, and medical sciences, as well as marketing, and business. Less theoretical than competing texts, Hoffman includes numerous exercises and worked-out examples and sample programs and data sets for three popular statistical software SPSS, SAS, and Stata.
This is a thorough, brief, extremely readable introduction to generalized linear models, offering instructions for performing analysis in Stata, SPSS, and SAS.
An incredibly helpful and fascinating little book. As a second-year grad student engaged in both theoretical and statistical macro-sociology projects it gave me the information I need to test several working hypotheses as well as the mathematical background to further understand and explore more complex statistical models.
Well, I read as much of it as was assigned to me in my graduate methods class, and it helped contribute to my desire to conduct qualitative research! :)
