It might seem hard to believe, but there's a delicate balance with a story like this. The reader has to both be able to sympathize with characters who are victims of circumstance (one might say too often), and keep an ironic distance from the over-the-top proceedings.

Having read a small handful of melodramatic shoujo manga now, I also think it's important that no one is seriously hurt. Sae having a is one example. I completely understand why that story arc was concluded the way it was-- might have tipped the balance too far into its being serious or dealing with serious issues, rather than being amusing and eye-roll-y.

this book was awesome. sae virtually goes insane trying to keep her first love. it's a shame that things just doesn't ever seem to work out for her. but if things worked out easily for people, it really wouldn't be peach girl. kiley tries to win momo back, but fails b/c momo is dumb and lame. okay, once again, i'm a kiley fan and therefore they must be together. besides, toji is just rebound boy. you'll see, momo just doesn't have her head on straight.

Wow, Sae was the star in this book! haha, ini buku kedua dlm serial ini yg kukasi 5 stars krn Sae. Kalo utk Momo, kukasi 1-2 stars.

Ryo is a scumbag (Okay, we found that out from the moment he appeared on the scene, but in this volume.. ugh!)
And it seems Kiley won't get a happy end... darn it.

Myslím kvůli tomu oblečení a pózám.

This series has truly nose-dived since it's early volumes...pre-Change of Heart. I mean, this volume was truly awful. What kind of message is this sending to girls? Again, I highly question the recommended 13+ age-rating. The volume opens with Ryo taking Sae to the carnival and giving her abortion pills since he really does not want her to have his baby. Sae goes crazy and literally tries to kill Misao thinking if she's out of the picture Ryo will love her. Misao is disgusted with Ryo treating Sae like that and breaks up with him having realize she'd built him up in her mind as someone he truly wasn't. As for Momo, she just can't shake the image of Kiley crying and running away from her from her mind. So, like everyone else in this series...she chooses not to talk to him about it and clear the air. Instead she just hangs out with Toji and tries to convince herself she still likes him. And Toji remains perfect...for now...because when Momo goes to finally return Kiley's handbook, he holds on to her and seriously refuses to let her go when Toji shows up. He, and this is word for word, tells Toji, "I want Momo back, I'll take better care of her this time, I promise." WTF. Excuse me? Stop. This is a series for middle school girls, and this is not an ok way for someone to talk about an ex-girlfriend...especially when Momo is right there and can speak for herself. Toji tells Momo she "must choose" right that second between the two, but they're interrupted because Sae and and Ryo were attacked in the park and sent to the hospital. Sae was never pregnant, Kiley begged Misao to come see Ryo...and apparently Momo picks Toji...
Only one more volume and then the 3-volume Sae spin-off...I can do this...I think...

*3.5*

I have to say, that confession and confrontation scene really took me by surprise. I really thought that Momo wouldn't find out about Kairi's feelings until the finale, and then she'd have to choose between him and Toji. Honestly I think it was really well done, and I felt my heart skip a beat when Kairi hugged Momo so fiercely.

Okay, now let's talk about the whole Sae subplot. It's definitely insane, and overdramatic, but that's what makes it fun. It's nice not having Sae trying to destroy Momo all the time (instead she was going after Misao). And as much as I hate her, I hate Ryo waaay more. I hope he might change in the future, and maybe he can have a happy ending of his own (possibly with Sae? They are a lot alike).

Trigger Warning for pregnancy, abortion, miscarriage, and assault.

This volume mainly focused on two things: the Sae/Misao/Ryo love triangle and the Kiley/Momo/Toji love triangle. I hate how this volume ended because...well, we'll see what happens in the last volume.

I feel bad for Kiley, then I don’t. I feel bad for Sae, then I don’t. I feel bad for Momo, then I don’t. I feel bad for Toji, then I don’t. This series is spinning my emotions around like I’m in a blender. Crazy.

Story: The perfect thing about this series is that it is a potential real life situation. There is bullying from the other people at school and misunderstandings set into a high school setting. This series is absolutely perfect for someone to read when they are that age and to realize that many people can make mistakes or take something the wrong way, especially in regards to relationships. There is a quite potent love triangle between Momo, a girl that gets bullied by others, Kairi (Kiley), a flirt of a guy, and Toji, a guy that is easily blindsided. It does not help anything that there is the slightly evil character of Sae that is always trying to get in Momo's way.

Drawing Style: One of my favorite things about the art style of Miwa UEDA is that she changes up the characters. Especially Momo, she always wears different clothing and has a different style of hair that is rarely seen in anime or manga.

Characters: The characters are highly in depth and developed throughout the series. They are all multi-dimensional with underlying reasons for how they come across and serious back stories that add to the series.

Overall: This is one of my favorite series by far, exceeding all of my previous expectations and blowing me away with the quality of production.

Note: This review was completed after reading volumes 1-18.

WHAT?!?!?!?!

I mean, yeah, there's a lot to comment:
- ryo being a douche as usual and paying guys to beat up sae and make her have a miscarriage
- misao putting him on his place
- sae not actually being pregnant
- ryo figuring out that he actually does (?) care about sae and regretting what he did

but let's focus on MOMO CHOOSING TOJI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

???????????????????????????????????? WHAT THE FUCK

FUCK NO

Momo's heart may be torn, but Toji's trying his best to mend it, promising only good times ahead. Kiley suffers from a change of heart... but is he too late to change Momo's mind? Caught between Toji and Kiley- What;s a girl supposed to do? Meanwhile, Ryo pushes Sae to extreme measures- will she do something she'll regret?

A cute story with cute art. It was a bit too teenage-drama-ish for me, but still an amusing read.
