Think you know about gargoyles? The beautiful winged race disappeared eight hundred years ago. When they last walked the earth, they traveled in close-knit packs, their throats marked with ancient runes. Their greatest enemies were the ugly and brutal harpies that people today mistake for gargoyles.

When a fabulous winged sculpture mysteriously saves Elaina's life, she travels across the country in her search to learn more about him. But the good-looking gargoyle she finds in Colorado isn't exactly happy to see her. Too bad he's going to be her new college roommate. Now sparks fly every time Elaina and Reason look at each other.

I really liked this one. I think the series has definitely gotten better with each book. This one is actually my favorite thus far. I kinda love Reason and after gaining a little insight into what happened to him in book 2, I was pretty stoked to learn more about him.

Reason is so great. He's really snarky, cagey, and a little prickly but there were times where he's really sweet and caring. There are plenty of times where Reason isn't the nicest guy, but he has just enough charm to pull it off. I like how some background information is given on him as to why he is the way he is. Reason is actually revealed to be the type of person who is really duty bound. He always does what he's supposed to but nothing really for himself. He pushes everything away that could be potentially good for him including Elaina.

I really like Elaina too. She's really spunky and funny. I like that nothing really got her down and no matter what went on, she rolled with it. Dealing with Reason and his attitude isn't the easiest thing but she was always patient with him and showed him a lot more sweetness and sensitivity than he deserved most of the time. I really like that Elaina is older than the rest of the girls, being a college student and that reflected in a lot of her actions.

Elena and Reason are really cute together. I love that they're a lot less fluffy than the previous two couples. I think that's because they're both older and they live together. There is a little more tension in this one too and that's because the relationship is structured a little differently. Reason and Elaina bicker and argue so much and it's cute because they acted like they didn't like each other but they totally did. They actually remind me a bit of Bonnie and Damon from TVD with the whole semi-antagonistic-but-not-really type of relationship. Those issues lie mostly with Reason as he kept pushing Elaina away, but he always came through for her when she needed him most. Even though Reason can be a little cold at times, he really cares for Elaina and she cares for him too.

I thought the harpy issues picked up a little more as well and Chaos, one of the guys who had gone missing makes an appearance as well which is interesting and it looks like he'll be bringing a lot of drama to the story as it goes forward.

Wow! This series does just keep getting better! Reason is so different from the rest of his pack, and I found myself cheering for him as he tries to overcome himself! We need Defiance!! And Chaos, and Havoc, and Victor!! Please don't keep us waiting for too long. ( :
These are really great reads!
Mom note; a little more language than the first two, but still clean and appropriate.

Reason's story was well worth the wait - I think this one may be my favorite, perhaps because both were a bit older...I only wish it had taken me longer to read!!!

Well I guess we are going just jump right into this...oh wait, this is a third in a series, while this series is one that deals with different characters each books, i really don't think you can read them out of order as they are following the same timeline, most of the characters know each other, and are dealing with issues from the first and second book still. so with that said if you haven't read of the first or second one this will most likely have spoilers from them... sorry.

Song Choice: "All I Need" by Radiohead ;) just for Elaina (well also in a way describing their relationship. And also "Misguided Ghost" by Paramore.

First thoughts: Well out of the series, this wasn't really my favorite, but I have a special place in my heart for black hair, blue eyed boys, sorry Reason but you are a blonde ;). With that said there were other aspects about this book that i liked better the the previous two, which sounds odd i know. But i guess one of my biggest problems with this book was, as much as i love the hate-love relationships were the two "falling in love" are just asses to each other, really i do love that, its fun chemistry building, it also for me lasted too long in this one. I will elaborate later sorry i get carried away in first thoughts. So some aspects it was a lot better than the first two, and more personal reasons it wasn't.

Plot: So this is one of the things I loved most about this book, because in the first two the problem was Harpies and them coming in and stealing the girl to get to the guy. While this book continued with Harpies it also introduced a new "villain"/problem. My only thing is i think that this new problem was resolved too quickly, it could have been another running problem the pack had to deal with. Anyways! Harpies still are coming around but this time they are going for the direct source. Now for the romance part, while I do, i really, really do love the I hate you, i hate you, but really i love you romances because i think they are fun as hell i was a little annoyed on how long this lasted, or maybe it was that this book could have been longer...but i think if they had hit more common ground before the very end it would have worked really well as well. We all know that Reason had a bit of a crush on Mac and it caused problems in here as well, and i loved it!
So are you wondering about those missing pack members? Welllllll i can't tell you much but i can tell you this, i am looking forward to someone else's story now.

Characters:

Elaina: She was very, very different from Mim and from Mac which I really liked. This is going to sound a bit like an asshole sort of move, but I like to know that authors can do a wide spectrum of characters. Elaina is also a bit older than the other girls she is 19 but looks like 14 ;) haha, but she is very mature, she is very outspoke and seems fearless. I think she has a bit of the Napoleon Complex to be honest, hahaha (i like to think i am funnier than i actually am so you don't have to laugh its okay) Alright ANYWAYS Elaina, she is really fearless, but hilarious as well. Unfortunately there were times when she seemed a lot longer than 19 and i get that she is somewhat self-conscious cause she can obviously see how Reason felt about Mac. But i guess because i know more than she does that i wanted to just yell at her and tell her that she is wrong, so very wrong that they are so good together!! I mean come on, both are art kids. There is just so much right about them.

Reason: He always never stops surprising me. I guess since its been awhile since i have heard the first two, (i stopped cause i heard a rumor that this was going to be the last one, not the cause by the way obviously so i was scared to start it because i have this thing about ending series, books, tv shows, etc, etc, if i don't read/watch it, it never has to end. I mean duh!!!) again moving on. For some reason...hehe pun...anyways...i always thought Reason himself was a bit of a flirt and fun, and just not so serious. But he is, he takes his place as second in command very seriously and i respect him for it. He is so selfless anyone can see that. He is always putting the pack before himself and when he does finally does stuff for himself oh my i am just so happy for him! its just perfect!! PERRRFFFECT he really does deserve it. :) i am super happy for him, and God can he be sexy as hell!!!

So we know alot about the other pack members right? Well i am just going to do a little bit of Defiance cause his book is next.

Defiance: is less than a bad boy in my eyes now, as more of an asshole. I don't understand his obvious distaste for humans but i am very eager to learn about it. I am sincerely hoping that the next one might be in his POV? maybe alternating between him and Whit...mayhaps? Anyways he is a mystery to be solved and lets hope Whit can get through that asshole, bad boy shield he has going on.

The ending, well there is still the missing pack members to worry about, and a new mystery to be solved so, a bit of a cliffie but no big deal as the next one is already out. YAY!!!!

Alright i don't like doing this anymore. I hate writing about how you should come check out my blog just cause i waited until now to tell you about it. if you want to come, come. if you don't, don't. No big deal. Would you be able to see some awesome-sauce stuff, yup, yup. but here is the link enjoy! if you chose to. ;) http://theviolethourbookreviews.wordp...

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
4.5 stars — oh dude! I had no idea in the previous 2 books that I would love Reason’s book the most! But that all has to do with one thing — ELAINA! Holy crap does she kick ass. She’s the PERFECT foil for Reason — she’s spunky, a smartass, and generally very down to earth. She was just the fire needed to light Reason up. I seriously loved being inside her head, she made me laugh and she kicked butt like I wanted her too!! Every time she stood up to someone (mostly the agents), I just wanted to cheer! And I loved how insecure and innocent Reason could be at times….it was just such a contrast from what we know about him and his personality. Yup, even loved the overall plot arc advances with the missing gargoyles. <3

On a side note, REALLY looking forward to Havoc’s book, even though since he’s so young it will probably be one of the last ones. That kid is HILARIOUS.

ON REREAD:
4 stars — I still loved Elaina for sure, she was so different from MacKenzie and Mim…so much SASS! But Reason annoyed and frustrated me a bit more this time around. He’s just such a dick, it’s hard to fall in love with him! I did appreciate that for once the trope was spun on its head, and Elaina made a bit of a boneheaded move that she had to apologize for.

On a side note to my above side note, this time around I didn’t notice how young Havoc was! I mean, how young is he? Why don’t I know? Did I gloss over it?

I gushed about Valor (Book 1), I raved about Dare (Book 2), but Reason has by far been my favourite in this Greystone Series. I LOVED IT!!!

Reason is such a great character and I really loved reading about him from Elaina's viewpoint. The tension between them was awesome and had me reading late into the night. I so wanted to see them sort it all out and tell each other what they were both really thinking and feeling!!

There is plenty of action in this story and (I don't want to give away spoilers) some very cool developments in the overall plot of the series.

The ending was fantastic and I can't wait to read more. Once again, Taylor Longford has done a stellar job at writing a fast-paced novel that made me fall in love, filled me with curiosity and left me wanting more. I was almost sad I read the book so quickly, but I just couldn't help myself! It was impossible to put down and I was left thinking about it for days afterwards. To me, that is the sign of an awesome book.

This was another really amazing read from Taylor Longford. This was one that I thought I was not going to enjoy as much because I only got to see Reason in the first novel (Valor), and he really did not leave a good impression with me. But lo and behold, he's a great guy after all, even if he is a little too serious about his responsibilities to the pack.

This is the third book in the Greystone series, and it's well worth the time it takes to read. I loved the way Reason became when he was around Elaina. You could almost see him struggling to maintain his composure as she pushed his buttons for a response.

And the trouble around these time-misplaced gargoyles is really starting to heat up as more harpies start showing up and people start to take notice.

All in all, a great read that I would highly suggest diving into. I guarantee that you will have read the entire series before you even realized it.

Beginning with Valor and Dare, Taylor Longford continues her Greystone series with Reason.

Gargoyles are real; did you know? LOL. The story about the gargoyle brothers who turned to stone and enclosed in a building for hundreds of years is a great read. Unable to touch sunlight to turn back to their living, breathing forms, the brothers awaken to a transformed world of computers and EBay.

Reason’s story begins with after he saves a young woman from drowning. He returns to his brothers in Colorado but the young woman isn’t so easy to lose. She follows him to discover who – and what – he is.

The Greystone series is a surprising treat. Well-written and always surprising, it is a page-turner. Don’t pass up this author and books.

A big Thumbs Up.

LOVED LOVED this book! First off I just want to say my mother always told me a girl should keep a crowbar down the seat of her car and a cast iron frying pan in the kitchen because they are reasonable places for them to be but you can beat the crap outta someone with them if they tried to hurt you! I HOWLED in laughter when I read that scene! To be scared shitless screaming like crazy but still swinging away with all her might! AHHH! If I didnt already love Elaina by then (though I'm pretty sure I liked her) I most definitely did with this! And that flip Reason did on the sofa! WOOOOOOOOOOO baby! I loved that they were both into art and just this whole flippin book!

I love this series. The world that Taylor Longford has created is wonderful. The gargoyles are freaking awesome and I loved hearing Reason's story. I have to say I really liked this book more than the other two probably because of Lainey. It is always nice to read books with romance in them that have the female lead not being a pushover. Lainey was a strong female who didn't have a problem standing up for herself even when she was feeling vulnerable inside. I loved how she stood her ground. Fantastic book! I highly recommend this series from an awesome independent author!

What a great way to continue with the Greystone series! Reason is filled with action, romance, and Taylor Longford's wonderful sense of humor - which comes across nicely thru the main character of Elena. If you are looking for a paranormal romance that is more action & wit than it is swooning and mush (while still holding its own in the romance department), then this is the series for you. It is refreshing and well written and Ms. Longford's story telling improves with each novel that she puts out. I'm very much looking forward to reading about Chaos in book 4.

Reason was worth the wait; the minute Taylor released Reason on Amazon I hit the buy button! I think I devoured this book in a day and a half. I couldn't out it down. This series just keeps getting better. Seeing everything from Elaina's point of view as an outsider of the little group was refreshing. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Taylor, if you read this review, don't stop writing this series! There are so many possibilities with this family of gargoyles! You've got talent!

A good friend told me once that I looked older than I was because I took life and things too much seriously. She said, "you should laugh more and think less", and guess what? I listened and thought a lot about that. You should enjoy life more and sometimes, let the others grow up too. That's why I'm reading so much now and enjoying it. Because for a long time I think of myself first! Way to go Reason!

Reason has always been the more serious of the Greystone "family" so it is nice to see him viewed from someone else's POV, that someone is Elaina. A smart stubborn girl intent on learning more about he "man" that saved her. There were plot twists in this book that I did not see coming but they made it awesome.
Taylor Longford has done an amazing job of keeping each gargoyle separate and interesting! Truly cannot wait for the next book!

I love how it started slow for the love to kindle together. it kept me on the edge to finish because I didn't want to miss a moment where they would reveal each others feelings for each other. Nevertheless, I wish it lasted a bit longer because I finished so quick, then again I love Taylor Longford's books!

This was a very good read! I really got into it after the first chapter and I couldn't put it down! I had some last minute Christmas presents to wrap, and I couldn't put the book down to even finish the wrapping! :)
I think that Taylor is a very talented writer and she will just keep getting better and better. I look forward to reading the next book in the series!

I really enjoyed this book as much as I did the first two. I feel that I was able to relate more to this one (maybe the fact that I'm a college student) but I liked how it wasn't just meeting and falling in love. Instead, there were fights and arguments and anger that made it feel more real compared to the first two.

I love this series. Reason is a sweet, but serious, gargoyle. He feels the burden of responsibility to the point of denying himself everything for his family. When he falls in love with an equally stubborn girl, things get complicated. This series is definitely worth picking up.
