This was unexpected. I enjoyed this a lot.
I went into this thinking this would simply just be some fanfic-y smut, but it actually hit me harder than I expected.

"What is this exactly?”
“A shit-show with a killer soundtrack.”

Plot:
Legion, controversial and anonymous rock band, are kicking off their sold-out US tour with three nights in LA.
Jade, seeking revenge on her cheating ex-boyfriend of eight years, steals his tickets to see his favourite band and even meets the members backstage. Before the band moves on to their next stop, they offer Jade a unique opportunity: to join them on tour.
Having grown up religious, Jade has never been one to take risks. But faced with this opportunity, she decides to take the leap. As she gets to know the men behind the masks, she discovers there's more beneath the cracks of their immense success.

Was this smutty? Very much so (and very hot too).
Was it fanfic-y? At times, yes. But with the plot being what it is - a girl following a band on tour - I think it's impossible to avoid those vibes. It didn't make it any less enjoyable, however.

Where this book truly spoke to me was in the characters and the underlying themes of religious trauma.
How prayers can be used as weapons, the perfectionism and fear of stepping out of line that comes with it.
It was strangely comforting, refreshing and validating to read about it so openly. It's not something I've encountered prior in my reading, and I want to give credit to the author for covering this topic.

"Things were far from perfect. We were far from perfect. But right now, suspended in time under the canopy of a song, we were one. And somehow, that made me feel closer to God than I ever had in a church."

Going into this it took me some time to get used to the writing. Especially as it was written in past tense - but once I got into it I truly enjoyed the plot and characters that Brannon created. Reverse Harem can definitely be a hit or a miss, but I loved seeing Jade build unique connections with each of the band members, her understanding their dynamic and needs, and them eventually finding healing as a group.

The pacing was good, it kept my attention and I never really got bored. There were times I wished for slightly more in the writing when it came to dialogues or certain reveals in the book. Including the guys perspective is something that I think could've perhaps given that extra oomph.

I think it's important to state that this definitely isn't for everyone.
It is a dark romance, with heavy spice and traumatized characters.

The premise is giving fanfiction and I don't really have high hopes...

I decided to pick up this book after the author made a tiktok about a family member reading it and Im glad I did. I was beautifuly written and tackled heart topics in a respectual and poignant way and showed that just because you have trauma does not mean you are broken. The character dynamica were phenomenal and watching as everyone entertwined and grew together to evolve was simply amazing.

I really loved this book. I’m usually not into rockstar type romances. But I picked this one up after watching the authors tiktok about how a family member was reading it. It made me laugh so I figured why not. I LOVED how she just jumped right into it. There was no slow burn to get to the good bits, no over explanation of things or dragging out stuff to start it, but for sure a solid beginning build up.
The emotions and topics discussed in this book are super intense but it was so well written and I LOVE how you get to know each character a bit and their past and traumas. I really really wanted to give this book 5 stars because it was such a great read and the spice, my god so good. But I feel like the ending was rushed. I mean the paternity cliff hanger!? Wtf? I sure do hope she’s writing a sequel though I’m not sure where she could go with it but I feel like there was a bit left unsaid and I was shook it ended when it did. 10/10 would recommend though.

I don’t think this book is getting the attention it deserves from the dark romance community. It’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, but a rock n roll band full of flawed men, with some dark subject matter and RH should be bumped to the top of quite a few TBR’s in my opinion.

Deep, heartfelt plot, beautifully damaged characters AND spice!?
Ivy Brannon is a genius. I already knew she was from her previous books The Veil and The Veiled Prince, so when I heard she was writing a contemporary book about a rock band I confess I was at first skeptical. How do you go from writing about fae and magic to writing about rockin' guitar solos?
But oh my gosh does she do it and WOW does she do it well.

The Song of Fallen Angels follows the story of Jade as she signs a "deal with the devil" to follow a "Satanist" rock band on tour. From reading the tag lines and the trigger warnings, you kind of feel like you know what you're getting into but believe me, you don't.

What on the surface could be just another reverse harem smut book is instead a much deeper, darker, beaut of a book, woven with themes of religious persecution, belonging, trauma, found family and at its heart, love. Ivy has a way of creating characters who you know because in some way, you are them and they are you. I could identify pieces of myself in all of her characters and seeing them fight through their traumas and succeed made me feel stronger in myself. It's like, if they can do it, I can do it.

Ivy's writing is engaging, full of humor, and she never fails to surprise me with her plot points. I absolutely adored The Song of Fallen Angels. It was so well written, such a great story and so much hot spicy spice......just 10/10.

Thank you so much to Ivy Brannon for the ARC. I wrote this review of my own volition and without compensation.

Jade is crashing with her best friend after a bad breakup. Her ex is blowing up her phone and using their dog as collateral. As one last F.U, Jade decides to go to the concert she got her ex tickets for, to throw in his face. While at the concert she meets vee, selling merch. They click instantly, and vee helps her out by getting her backstage passes to meet the band to send a photo to her ex. But the band likes her and asks to see her again. And offer her a contract the Christian girl in her should be scared of. She should be scared of the Satan worshipping rock band, but her inner demons see theirs, and they want to play.

Run! don't walk. Get this now. It has a shipping list of warnings, so please check. But if you like the idea of 4 guys with very different ideas of time with a girl, a tour bus, roll play, dom/sub, mmf, forced proximity, relationship contracts, mine, touch her and die vibes then this my friend, is also for you 💋

The guys? Say less. Each one had their own back story and brought something very different, but Dante has my heart ❤️

🩶

"You have no idea the pleasure Id take in breaking you." "It's cute you think you could. The world's tried, but I'm still here, so take your best shot."

"We could tell you,"
"or we could show you.

"People are broken, but that doesn't mean they're fragile. It just means they need to find pieces that fit with theirs."
"My pieces will cut you."
"And I told you I like pain."

I don't want to sh*t on this book entirely, so I will start out with what I liked. Ivy, has a way words and when she wanted too really made the work intimate and immersive. Her ability to bring you with her as if you are sitting on the characters shoulder while the world around you happens is fantastically done. However, most scenes felt rushed and hollow and considering the very heavy themes that was a huge let down.
I will also say that I understand what she was trying to portray with the broken things finding a voice and comradery with others like themselves. Honestly, it felt like the main character was being sexually assaulted and increasingly so throughout and was on a journey to convince herself that through taking abuse it not only healed these broken men but healed her through these acts being her choice. Shoe on the head, belt on the neck, breath play is a dangerous game and while yes this is a work of fiction, let's not try to convince people that you are healing anyone through abusive submission.
Enjoy your kinks, but let's not do the "he hit me and it felt like a kiss" crap.

I used to think men who spent many hours desensitizing themselves watching unrealistic gonzo porn wrote this kinda stuff but then I realized that the women experiencing these men where also experiencing that same level of desensitizing.

Also, Sleep Token being abusive assholes who love you if you "take it" gives me the ick. Let Falling in Reverse keep their position.

rant over.

I picked up The Song of Fallen Angels because it seemed right in my alley: a Why Choose Dark Romance full of trauma, healing, and a rockstar band dynamic. Jade, still reeling from her ex’s betrayal, finds herself swept into their chaotic world. As with any dark romance, make sure to check your triggers, this one also deals with religious trauma.

Honestly, I loved this book. The characters are layered and complex, and while they reminded me a bit of Den of Vipers in vibe, they’re fully unique here. What stood out most was the balance between darkness and healing, the rawness of trauma paired with genuine moments of connection. The character dynamics felt natural, never forced, and I found myself hooked on every interaction.

That said, this book isn’t for the faint of heart. The emotions run high, and there are moments where the characters nearly break under the weight of it all. The ending did feel a little rushed, but it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment.

Overall, if you’re into darker romance and don’t mind the heavy themes, this one’s worth picking up. And honestly, why settle for one when you can have four devils ready to worship the angel they found at a rock show?

This book!!!🥵😍 This book made me like reverse harem for the first time okay?! If you’re hesitating reading this, just do it!! I have tried other RH series and standalones, they always felt meh, not really my style. But this book ?! This book reminded me of the dirty wattpad books I read as a teenager about all my favorite bands, but this had yummy, scrumptious SPICE 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

It took me a minute to remember so many people and their personalities but once you do, you’re hooked.

I also enjoyed the mental health aspects of it all!

I did have a few negatives but not really anything too serious.
There could have been so much more spice. What we get is good but I was definitely expecting more especially from Dante 🌝😍 I wanted to see more of Cal and Donovan’s tag teaming her 🥵🙂‍↔️🤭 I think this book is a standalone ? But man I’d love a part 2 even if it’s just a little novella 🤣
My other thing, it ended on a weird note. Like it was technically a HEA but it wasn’t ? It just ended without explanation of what their relationship will be and I’m still wondering after waking up this morning 😆

When I say this book will stay with me forever!!!! I will think about this book constantly. If you like a good why choose and reverse harem this book is for you. From the first chapter I was hooked maybe from the first page. I am absolutely head over heels for Jade, Luca, Dante, Callum, and Donovan.

I highly suggest reading the trigger warnings in the beginning of the book and not going in blind. This book brought on some really strong feelings from all of the characters. Half way through the book I had to sea4ch out the author on social media (btw she's super nice) and let her know I never wanted this book to end.

The plot is top tier and there is no shortage of spice. I was hooked and forced myself to stay awake because I just couldn't put it down. Ivy Brannon will forever be listed as an auto read.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily

“Things were far from perfect. We were far from perfect. But right now, suspended in time under the canopy of a song, we were one. And somehow, that made me feel closer to God than I ever had in a church.”

Y’all I loved this book. I was worried going in, it would be nothing but smut. Much to my shock, it had a great storyline too. 🥲👏🏻

Jade just found out her boyfriend of 8 years is a cheating POS, so she takes concert tickets she bought him for his favorite band, and goes alone. At the show she instantly befriends one of the crew members for the band, and gets to go backstage and meet them. What started as revenge against her ex, dives into a job opportunity being the bands number one groupie for the entirety of their tour. 🤪

The story touches on a lot of darker topics, but the healing in this book is beautiful. Plus the spice? It’s spicy. 🔥

Can’t wait for book two. 😝

I enjoyed this book but 2 things kept it from being 5 stars for me. 1. I prefer multi POV. While I’m not sure what Cal and Dono would have added in that regard, other than better insight into their relationship, this story needed the angst of Luca and Dante’s struggles. 2. The sub-plot of Luca’s baby mama drama was pointless if that’s how it was going to be (un)resolved at the end. The readers needed that answer. And to just have it set up as ‘no matter what there’s a trust fund’, ‘the kid has been my son for 3 years’ when NOWHERE is there a mention that he’s even met the kid or wanted to and wasn’t allowed to for that matter. That plot thread was lazy and not flushed out at all.
Do I have strong feelings about 1 and 2? Yup. But, I still flew the story.

“ maybe your dark recognizes mine, and they come together to make something beautiful.”

Ahhh I need more of this book! I need a second one ASAP. I need to know what happens next. As someone who is a big Sleep Token fan who’s constantly going to concerts and loves a good dark romance I felt as though this book came from my dreams! The spice was a 5/5 🌶️ watch for your trigger warnings if needed. The characters were perfectly written I could see them in my mind. The two who were the dark edgy ones and the other two lovers all flowed together making me flip through these papers so fast. Great read

Surprisingly great

Because of a recent social media post by the author about a religious family member reading her book, I had to look it up. The synopsis sounded interesting enough, so I gave it a try. I do not regret it. Because some of the more degrading BDSM scenes weren't for me, and I rolled my eyes at them, I skimmed over them - however, they seemed well written like the rest of the book. Watching all of the characters grow and work on healing their traumas was tough but worth it. I really like that author included a list of resources for help at the end of the book, too, and not just US resources.

Read this off the back of a recommendation from one of my best friends who has also written a “Why Choose” book for a first dabble into the troupe, and was presently surprised.

As other reviewers have mentioned, it does feel fan fiction at times, but I think the plot alludes itself to that and I didn’t have a problem with it.

It started to lose me about 80% in during the 3rd act turning point, but it managed to bring me back in shortly after.

Would reccomend to anyone who is a “fan-girl” especially if you couldn’t pick a favourite from your boyband crushes!

To be completely honest, I really didnt have high expectations for this book, and thought at first I wasn't going to like it..
Boy am I glad I gave it a chance because I absolutely LOVED every second of it.

I was surprised at how emotionally invested I was in this book. The characters were easy to relate to, the plot was engaging and the spice was great.
you can tell the author poured their heart and soul into the characters and their developments. There's so much raw emotion, trauma and vulnerability that I truly was not expecting.

I really hope the author a continuation of their story because I couldn't get enough of it, and didnt want the book to end!

I got this from NetGalley as an arc and I’m so glad I did! This was absolutely a pleasure to read and had such an amazing time doing it. The story progression was fantastic and I loved the pace in which we got to really see who each character was under their masks. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to read this glorious piece of work and I want a physical copy to add to my bookshelf to read over and over again. I hope there is more from this amazing group of characters in the future. This was an awesome ride!!

I absolutely loved this book!! I was hooked by the first chapter and didn't want to put it down. I even read it during a hockey game :D The topics in this book were handled beautifully and the characters' emotions felt so real. I loved the plot and felt like it flowed very well with no lulls. This is easily one of the best why choose books I've read in a while. I hope there will be more books because I want more time with Legion. :)

I never write reviews but this book... I want more. I was sad it was over. Hoped for just one more spicy scene or maby just one more chapter. I am secretly hoping on a part two with the europe tour and the way they will handle trying to keep their identity a secret. Really sad I have no more pages left. I felt so close to the FMC and everthing about her felt like I was reading about myself. Truely loved the book.

3.5 ⭐️ but rounded up because it was Sleep Token-esque and I’m obsessed with them. My abandonment issues were showing throughout this book with how drawn I was to Dante and Luca 😂 I did love each of the characters and how Jade was able to relate to them on different levels. But really? A paternity cliffhanger, cmon now. We didn’t need that!

I really enjoyed this book. You have everything you would expect from an RH. Funny guys, sad guys, angry brutes. I love how they dug deep into trauma and overcoming self destruction. I am however, confused about Luca and his mess with the paternity test. I feel like we were left with a lot of questions and there wasn't actually any closure there. The spice was spicing!!! 4/5 🌶️🌶️

great read

I was hooked from page one and couldn’t stop reading. But I’m a little bummed we never did get the answer about Lucas ongoing “problem” so to speak, is he or isn’t he!?!?
Anyways I’d highly recommend reading this book but please check trigger warnings there is some “darker” themes in the book but if you’re ok with that then just read it!

If I had a nickel for every time I read a reverse harem about a masked band who hires a random girl to join them on tour as their “entertainment”, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice. Anyway I ate it up both times. My only gripe is I WISH this was a multiple pov.
